Emeli, Marsha Ambrosius, Corinne Bailey Rae and Lionna Lewis are the most underrated Pop songstress of the past 25 years in UK pop music. I love Adele and Amy Winehouse, but the UK needs diversity. Hopefully Raye and Jorja Smith can commercially blow up.

I don't know about Leona Lewis. Amazing talent but I wasn't moved by her music. But then I'm not a fan of the hit parade style approach of Simon Cowel and his predecessors. I feel like an artist needs to grow organically and find their own way whether success follows or not

It is sad that it appers to me that if you are white and "sound" soulful you will fair far better than if you are soulful sounding and black. Just my tiny observation of 55 years on this tiny planet. Not wanting to sound bitter, but look how amazing Beverly Knight is, and look at her career. It is what it is, so on a lighter note, I wish anyone reading this a happy, healthy 2025

She's still singing. I met her in heaven nightclub in London where I live, she was in the crowd dancing and I went right over immediately broke out dancing with her. Our warmth really met immediately in that moment and all her friends immediately joined us, we had a heart to heart and I'll never forget. It was truly a special moment for me, particularly considering her album (along with florence and the machine) were the only albums I went out to the shops to buy. This lady is a true artist and a gift of talent and spirituality.

I remember back in 2011-12, one of my friends knew people on her management team, and apparently, they were lowering her age by something like 10 years. She was already in her mid-30s at the time. So now, whenever she makes TV appearances, so many people question why she looks close to 50 when she’s supposedly 37.
