Labels are greedy!! They suck their artists dry. Have you heard that artists earn pennies for their streams? Labels work you to the bone despite investing millions on you. It's harder for black women to break into a market with a label that doesn't take them seriously especially with the heavy colorism and racism. As a songwriter you should keep to yourself and protect your art. You can make a profit of your own without having to rely on a corporate company to sustain you. Many labels slave artists away too; artists have to pretty much fund their careers if they don't get financial backing from their label. I'd advise you to not try your hand at the music industry; it's a ruthless marketplace.

@@kamialexis4831girl bfr, this happens with every artist.. like are we going to ignore the fact that britney's vocals are present on telephone by lady gaga and beyonce? or nu-di-ty by kylie minogue? it's just a common practice that doesn't necessarily mean one artist is "less talented" than others, just labels doing shady stuff.

Outrageous! Muni has got it all, voice, star quality, voice, songwriting! She writes the song, the ones that steal it from her can’t even sing it. And it’s so true, white singers have always been praised for hmmm ‘soulful voices’. Since forever, and then it’s often because it’s not even these singers voices.
@cory549517 күн бұрын
The thing is, these aren't even just songwriters, these are SINGER/songwriters aka the real stars. You can't call these mainstream people "singers" if the people hiding behind the scenes need the singer/songwriters to sing the vocals so their act doesn't sound bad. Most of these songwriters are the better singers.

Nicki been saying for the longest Atlantic is a sheisty label!!! Looking at Muni long writing record and seeing how they play in her face is insane like the epitome of it doesn't matter how good you are if your black. Same way Sza's label held her sophomore album for so long and look at the numbers she is doing right now.

If you want to do songwriting and producing then go for it, but just be cautious about this side of the industry. Remember to fight for your voice/rights etc. because it’s important and people will always want to hear it! Good luck to you + ur dreams 🧡🙏🏾

Ive had so many songs stolen off my google drive, I dont even use my phone or computer to write anymore, straight notebooks. And they are hit songs. I can list 5 different artists that have stolen a song from me or a concept to a song ive written while My views get supressed. Thats why theyll have 1 break out hit(my song) that actually talks about the real stuff and the rest of their discography sounds like the ish they really write that is materialistic, or down right degrading. I am so over trying to be an artist in that capacity because of the trauma. It really affected my mental health for years until i caught the last one red handed. Im my mothers 7th child, i was born on a Friday in 1995.... Do with that what you will. But Ive truly lost all respect for the music industry and its been pretty nice watching God handle everyone thats taken from me.

Same thing Ciara said about Britney, Nivea said about Ciara.
@disneytoysr4fun97517 күн бұрын
Yep, they wanted to give her hit Okay to Ciara because they felt she wasn't f#ckable anymore and they wanted to invest their money into the new teen star on the block.
@IIXIIXIIX17 күн бұрын
Except it wasn't Ciara trying to steal her song, but the label Ciara actually writes her own songs just like Ci said it wasn't Britney but the label.
@Lika.aliyah_17 күн бұрын
So, its the same thing. Nivea and The Dream (her husband at the time) wrote Okay feat Lil Jon before ciara ever came out and started doing crunk. They wanted ciara to have it and when nivea/dream refused, they were blackballed and Nivea’s career was never revived. And just how Ciara said “it wasn’t Britney”, Nivea said “it wasn’t Ciara”. It was the labels. But if it had gone through with her label taking Nivea’s record AND sound, would Ciara have cared or would she have taken the record/sound? Exactly. Everybody complains about what almost happened or happened to them in the industry but they don’t talk about how their own careers/labels affected others. Britney and Ciara both still around. Nivea was BLACKBALLED.
@IIXIIXIIX16 күн бұрын
@@Lika.aliyah_ I know how it went I saw Nivea's interview on it that's not on Ciara on whatever that label did to Nivea forget the if ands & buts she has the song that's all that matter Ciara been through all what Nivea went through too but 10x more with also being blackballed but she chose not to give up without label support with all the daily hate she gets that's why she's still around Nivea gave up too soon.
@Lika.aliyah_16 күн бұрын
@@IIXIIXIIX I’m not talking in circles. Saying Ciara been through 10x more than Nivea is crazy if you saw Nivea’s interview with Kandi. And Ciara has Goodies too, just like Nivea got Okay, so that’s all that matters both ways. Same thing applies yet she’s still talking about it.
