Lowering standards is the cruelest thing you can do to a child. Basically tells them they're not good enough.

Removing proficiency standards from schools will create much more unequal outcomes in the end, because families with the most economic means and resources will be more likely to continue to hold their children to higher standards outside the school system with supplemental education than families with lower economic means and resources. Schools need to maintain standards and expectations that help all children prepare for the real world. It would be great, though, if we could equally emphasize college AND vocational training as equally respected options.

The animal parable is also disturbing when you think about it since it assumes that having a different race is similar to being a different species.

45% of White kids reading at grade level, 23% of Blacks kids, they see racism, I see pitiful teaching. Bravo Mr. Rowe.

Yes, and also, kids from poor areas usually have parents that either don't care, or are too tired (from working hard) to care!

Not all dog breeds are the same. They evlolved to have differnt talents. Humans are no different.
@jamesbarton1969 Жыл бұрын
@@bluechex7881 wrong, humans are not deliberately bred for specific tasks. There has not been time for anything but minor cosmetic differences between groups of humans. While different cultures reward different skills the potential of groups that we call races is very simular. Greater bulk favors those in cold climates while slender frames favors those in hot climates we still have White fashion models and Black football players.

@@moniphy Teaching. Mostly middle class teachers with no understanding of the poor thinking that what and how they were taught is what the poor need. In a country short of electricians, plumbers, wood workers and pretty much all other trades these teachers try to prepare these kids for college just like they were prepared. They bore the shit out of kids who know they will never go and who don't want to go to college.

The saddest aspect of “equity” as practiced is that proponents are admitting overtly that they believe that black children cannot achieve at the same level as other children. Is that not racism defined? It is a race-to-the-bottom approach to education and a highly efficient one at that. To say it is evil is to be too kind.

Equity is a synonym for theft. Opportunity theft, authority theft, material theft. You name it.

If the child cannot keep up, provide remedial education. If that doesn't work, they need special education.
