@@kyereCat She was instantly intuitively keenly, satirically perceptive. She did usually play her characters as preprogrammed stock comedy figures, e.g., the straight shooting/talking straight (wo)man. But in real life her remarks could be uniquely morally serious, not "glib" -- as when (although a friend, as well as costar of Joan Crawford) she remarked wryly to an interviewer that Joan should never have tried to be a mother.

Eve Arden was a one of a kind actress. A natural flair for comedy filled with wise cracking and come back quick one liners frequently a co-star as a side kick to many actresses and with actors like Jack Carson and SZ Cuddles Sacall For years enjoyed her on radio as Connie Brooks using her famous comedy routine with the elderly Mrs. .Davis. and others.

Why do you and others completely ignore her major TELEVISION series, "Our Miss Brooks"? The television series was as, if not more popular than the radio series but it's being ignored by you and the narrator. This is how history gets rewritten with time.
@dudley5533 Жыл бұрын
@@caraqueno I didn't ignore her TV series, I just never saw it. I worked many nights, plus when I was home, my wife and three kids preferred other shows to watch. I sure would have enjoyed it. Hoping I can find her TV shows on U-Tube to see what I missed.

@@dudley5533 There are episodes of the tv series on KZbin but Me-TV runs "Our Miss Brooks" at 5:00 a.m., PDT/EDT. If you consider "I Love Lucy" and "The Honeymooners" classic television, "Our Miss Brooks" has to be there. It was both the forerunner and model for the smart, sly, sophisticated sitcom, along the lines of "The Adventures of Dobie Gillis", "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "Cheers", and "Frazier". Eve Arden's stock-in-trade was her sarcasm that made light of a potentially serious situations; She had a non-depletable coffer of one-liners. She was peerless at investing an often innocent sounding quip with the bluest of linings. I just had to spot her name in the cast of any movie and be sure I saw it. Often, she could carry an entire film on her shoulders. I just loved her to bits. She brought so much of sunshine and happiness into our lives. May her soul rest in peace !!!

I’ve asked before that is it a problem that you can’t have your pictures coordinate with your words? like when you were talking about Eve Arden husband couldn’t you have a picture of him so we know who you’re talking about? it’s not enjoyable to just see a bunch of pictures and saying oh if she went here or she went there, but you don’t see any pictures of that! I’m sure you can get a picture of a husband or the one she had an affair with so we could get a good idea of who you’re talking about.
