The Ghost inspired track was really well done! I've never really been a tele guy, but I do want to get a Fender Mustang or a Cyclone, something offset like that for some stuff that isn't the usual crushing metal riffs

I have a cyclone also, they are pretty cool guitars if you like that sort of mustang sort of thing. Maybe I'll finish that one of these days.

I can admit it. I'm a long haired, bearded Metal guy who also owns a Telecaster! It was scary when I realized my affection for it at first and didn't want to open up about it for fear of rejection. But, now, I feel safe opening up about this. I no longer feel it a threat to my metalinity.

I played that tele in GC a few years back. And loved it. I agree that having a guitar like that in your collection is a good thing. Doing Chugga Chugga Choo Choo with an active humbucker is always fun. But changing it up with a single coil sometimes can inspire some different sounds and riff ideas you would get otherwise

I dig the video! I'm someone who has always felt like I'm too "metal" for fender style guitars (my favorite guitars usually end up being from Ibanez), but I just said screw it and bought a SquierJ Mascis Jazzmaster last week. I just got it in the mail and I'm so glad I did! Its a really great guitar for the price. Being a guitar with a way different sound and feel, I suddenly feel so inspired playing it. I feel like I'm already a more well-rounded guitarist after only a few days! 😂
@finishin.my.coffee87803 жыл бұрын
The good thing about that particular model is that it not only looks cool but aftermarket pickup companies are beginning to make humbucking replacement pickups for Jazzmasters now, so if you get sick of the single coils, they've got you covered.

I have a 2018 Schecter PT Apocalypse Rust Grey, which is kind of Tele format (it has a Tele bridge etc) but it has a 12-16" radius ebony fretboard, stainless steel frets, and two high output humbuckers. Not very Tele in my view besides the shape. I also have a 2021 Squier Contemporary Telecaster RH, which has a 12" radius, a full-size humbucker in the neck, and a rail humbucker (Tele size) in the bridge. Neither is typical, although both have some Tele DNA. For a video like this you should really have used a more traditional Telecaster, especially one with the Telecaster style bridge pickup

Absolutely folks need a Telecaster. Probably more than 1. I love the way high gain has such a unique character through Tele pickups.
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, like I said I actually put the stock pickup back. I had a black winter (Wayy too much high end) and then a JB (you'd think that'd be the one), but the stock pickup had slightly less gain, and the character was just more.. twangy and present. Like it really just sings in a mix. Even the JB dulled the sound a bit.
@americafirst8473 жыл бұрын
You got the mudvayne “dig” video playing in the back. I don’t really like the look of the telecaster but I do love the strat, so I bought one a couple months back. Your right about having a different guitar, that’s not meant for metal. Sometimes you want to put down the 7 string guitar and play something mellow. Lol
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Glad you noticed 😂trying to pay homage since they announced their reunion. Yeah, strats are similar in sound, but teles have that twangy thing going on that is hard to replicate. Definitely good to have something different though!
@americafirst8473 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorDanley I totally agree! I got to admit, the tele you have sounded great in the song you wrote. I would probably do the same as you and change the bridge. Mudvayne is sic and I’m excited to see them live. Keep up the awesome videos and I’ll keep watching!

The only guitar I own at the moment is a Fender Vintera 70s Telecaster Custom with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge. And I‘m all about the downtuned metal stuff! I guess the Tele is the only guitar you need as it can do everything you need it to. Just love it’s versatility and also I think the bigger radius and smaller frets really suit chording and chugging! Great Video, now I have to go and play my Tele! :)

JR Telecaster as in Junior Telecaster? I totally understand. My favorite guitars ever are Kelly's and Telecasters. In about a month, my Kelly is going to be converted to a 7 string with a Floyd. Jackson doesn't produce them and would be a complete custom job $3k+.

Hey Taylor, thanks for this video! I have a modern player telecaster plus (for metal and other genres as well) and I also wanted to upgrade my modern player telecaster with that same Hipshot bridge, but the drilled mounting holes don't line up at all with the Hipshot. The string spacing seems fine though. I've had to give up and stick with the stock bridge for now. Did you have to use wood filler and drill new holes by chance? Would really appreciate some insight, thanks!
@TaylorDanley Жыл бұрын
No, the bridge I bought was a direct replacement, no drilling necessary! I do remember it being tricky to find the right model, and this was pre-pandemic so I don't even know if they make it anymore, but I'd just email them.
