I currently own an XH2s and an XH1. I used to be a prime lens user since 2013, right around when Fujifilm started in my country with their X Series. I actually just tried the 16-55 just now, and it is glued to my XH2s. For my EDC, I also bring along a prime (either a 23mm 1.4 or 33 1.4). What’s glued to my XH1 is a 10-24 f4 lens. I also have a 50-140. But honestly, when I started using zooms and even from time to time, I still can’t get out of the habit of sticking to a focal length with my zooms. I keep on forgetting that I can zoom. 😅

All Fuji glass is stellar, so it is easy to adopt any prime or zooms to attain a sharp picture factory.

I definitely agree with this. My sigma 56mm 1.4 is my main prime (I do have a sigma 16mm too). As for zoom lenses, I actually can milk quite a lot of an older Sony f/4 18-105 or 18-135 during daytime shoots, since I stop down to 6 anyhow. For nighttime, or indoors, I’ll grab one of my 2.8 zoom lenses (at the cost of focal length). The only time I bring three lenses, is when I’m going to need extremely tight shots from a long range, in a addition to some wide shots. In this case, I’ll bring my 16 and 56mm lenses, and my sigma 70-200 2.8 lens (probably my favorite lens).

Yeah the viltrox 27mm is great, I will add it’s a bit big and is simular weight and size as my Full frame lenses. I’m using Flog 2 @ 24 or 25 fps I’ve been testing a new Flog2 LUT pack that I’ll be dropping soon also so keep an eye out for that

100% agree, I started with prime lenses, and now the 16-55 is glued to my XH2 99% of the time after understanding the characteristics of different focal lengths.

Um it really depends, for weddings I would not shoot with the XT5 as the autofocus isn’t there plus it isn’t built as well ect. But for creative portraits I feel I like the XT5 more as the user experience is great and the lenses are decent, f1.4 is like f2 Full Frame and I hardly use f1.4 on my FF lenses. So like if it’s for fun and small campaigns both a great, but if you’ll be shooting more than once a week for paid jobs I’ll go safe with the a7iv

As a fan of Sigma lenses if the weight is not an issue get the Viltrox 27mm F1.2

Hey I haven’t used it on x mount only on Sony but I bet it’s great with the xt5 The viltrox 27mm f1.2 is really really big ahahaha basically the size of a full frame prime. While the 30mm is tiny and there is no major difference in f1.2 vs f1.4. So I reckon the sigma is a better buy

Well reasoned, experience-based viewpoint, although thumbnail “GREAT” a bit of click-bait, IMO.😊 Don’t recall you speaking outdoors to viewers in prior vids - works well to hold attention and adds variety - nice. Experience should teach us our own best visual “field of attention” we can match to suitable focal lengths. Manufacturers keep pumping out new lenses that don’t differ all that much - more hype than help. IMO There are lens characteristics other than f/l and max aperture that come into play - e.g., unique renderings of vintage lenses. Cheers!

I like that more hype than help, I’m gonna use that in a video and credit your comment 😊 I got the rode Pod mic, the audio is good when I have the carpet below me and the sound proofing on the celling, but the last video I had a lot of reverb from the computer monitor and desk ect. I do need to find some better Final Cut Pro audio presets, if anyone can recommend please DM me

I didn’t really understand the question, but I think if you only want one good lens, then a 50mm you can do a lot with, or just a mid range zoom. You can do pretty much any thing with a mid range zoom

35mm1.4 and 18mmf2 is all you need unless you photograph wildlife and sports. Smaller, cheaper and more stealth. I would never recommend a Zoom. I was shooting with zooms for 15 years and I really regret that alot.

Definitely preference and Depends if you don’t want to punch in more than a 50mm. Zooms are pretty boring but they get the job done 95% of the time, 28mm and 50mm is a great creative combo

@@gerardneedham I found zoom too big and the images too flat with no pop. Also with a zoom the camera scares away people in a way a small prime don't. People feel more relaxed around the 35mm1.4 than the 16-55 2.8. I'm doing a wedding with just the XF35mm1.4 in a few weeks.
