They are a brilliant plant. Indestructible and great ground cover. The Welsh word for it is Crib y Ceiliog or Cockerel’s Comb, because of the flowers obviously.

I live near Victoria British Columbia and I've just watched your first video on crocosmia. I have watched many gardening videos. I really appreciate your commentary and delivery. Your appealing accent, your narratives, and bits of information are unique and informative. The hangy downy and the standy uppy scientific notation is refreshing and direct. Thank you John. I have subscribed. Please don't change your ways. ..even the way you talk about different yellows and colour combinations is briliant. Beautiful South African Crocosmia’s. The yellow look wonderful with blue agapanthus. Red look lovely with white agapanthus both bloom at the same time.

I bought a two half dead crocosmia plants here from a big box store, nobody was buying them here where I live in the U.S. so they were all dying. I never even heard of this plant until watching another UK gardener and was so happy to find it. I'm guessing that's why they were not being purchased, as not too many people are familiar with them here. One died anyway but the other lives on, so I'm so happy to have discovered this beautiful plant.

This guy is legit! These things will take over anywhere that there is good soil and light! After a few years you may find yourself hacking always at a clump with a pick axe! Unbelievable genre in general. What cultivation. For art, we are standing in the shoulders of the giants that developed this species! Brilliant descriptions of how to compose stuff and how to not hold back. A person who hasn't failed, hasn't lived :0)

Question. When you have a big clump with bulbs stacked 3-5 on one stalk. Should you a) split all the bulbs off, keep them and plant in Spring b) just split and replant further appart, with the corms as they are c) Split and split off corms leaving the last one and replant, keeping the rest for replanting in Spring. I've mitigated some risk by planting about 6 stalks (already cut down from this end of season) in one area. I've split off less than a third of the existing stalks and I've produced about 3-4 corms for each one, so going to store and plant somewhere next spring or give them away.
