I found out only a couple of months ago how much I love tofu. I picked up some pre-marinated Chinese 5-Spice tofu just to see if I would like it and surprise! I just stood over the pan and half of it was gone. I've made a couple recipes since then with breading, and I think my next step needs to be grilling! The timing of this couldn't have been better. I really appreciate how flavorful your recipes are, but also the sense of humor that accompanies these videos. "Is this your first time grilling?" made me cackle with laughter and I'm glad that didn't get cut out. Even when I was a meat eater I didn't grill often so I related to that hardcore. XD Really looking forward to trying these sauces, especially the combo at the end. (PS - I'm really looking forward to your cookbook!)

Recipes are excellent (as always) and I plan to try them all, and the video has your usual wit, style, and ease-of-understanding! Glad you are back, and as excellent as ever. 👏 As far as the Aldi sponsorship, I’m a little surprised, but I trust you are being truthful and honest about your opinions, so I have no direct criticism of you accepting the sponsorship. I will say that personally I have 4 other grocery stores closer than the nearest Aldi, and a Trader Joe’s that is just a little bit further, and *every* time I have tried shopping at Aldi I have had to go to another grocery store to finish up because the Aldi didn’t have several items on my list. My time (and gasoline) have value, so driving farther to then have to drive to yet another store to finish shopping costs more than any minor savings I might have realized at Aldi, so I have ignored Aldi since 2002.

I watched this and learned. I will probably never cook tofu exactly like this or add all these wonderful sauces (some sauces I think I will make - time, money ... ), but I learned to really barbecue the tofu well. What a difference from the wobbly tofu I've made before! I'm impatient so I slice my tofu and squeeze the liquid out of every piece by hand. Yesterday I marinated it in a little oil, light soy sauce and lots of harissa powder and then barbecued until firm and dry on the surface on a well prepared grill. What a difference from before! A tiny change in technique and it's actually tasty and pleasant to eat. Thank you!

So happy to see you back and making me giggle with the whole French artist part - and way to go ninja turtles! 😄 As usual, everything looks and sounds amazing! 🥰 I have one tiny little suggestion/question for the future. I‘ve learned that apparently it‘s due to genetics if cilantro tastes „how it‘s supposed to“ or like soap ^^ unfortunately I belong to the latter camp… of course I can make assumptions and experiment 😊 But sometimes I‘d be very grateful to hear your opinion on which herb would suit best to substitute. If it‘s a garnish I don’t really bother, but in a pesto it makes me wonder 😄 However, I‘m aware that you might get asked about a thousands of „suggestions“, so just know that I love and appreciate your work either way ☺️ (BTW, I seemed to rock your Dal Makhani, my friends cooked it again like 2 days after having it at my place ☺️ - guess that‘s one of the best compliments ever 😄) Hope you‘re having a great time and still find time to relax after your holiday 🌞
@RainbowPlantLife2 жыл бұрын
🥰 I’m glad you enjoyed the little touches! You’re so right about the need for subs for cilantro. I forget some folks have this intolerance because I just love it so much 🙊 For the pesto and chipotle sauce, I’d use flat leaf parsley. And same for the salsa - it’s unconventional to use parsley in salsa but I think the taste will still be nice, just different.

Great recipes! There are conflicting schools regarding pressing and marinating tofu however: Sauce Stache tried all different ways to firm up tofu and actually found that pressing was unnecessary, and marinating for longer periods of time did nothing to enhance flavour. Apparently the tofu didn't soak up any flavour by doing so, and I have tried and found the same result as well. The best way should be to glaze the tofu with marinade to get more flavour, or cut thinner slices to get more surface area. The important take was to make the surface tasty.
@Sonosoz2 жыл бұрын
People always way down tofu with books or other weights and wait for a long time to get the moisture out. If you can give a first aid heartmassage, you can get the moisture out in 2 minutes. Serious; just heartmassage the block, it stays whole and you get it dry. Try it. Been doing this for ten years, works like a charm (Tofu is my favourite food, versatility is king)
