I've never heard the alarm at my PF and there's always super buff dudes there. The dumbbells are all rubber so you wouldn't even hear it if you dropped them. And the whole reason they want you to be gentler on the machines is so you don't crack the weights since I'm assuming they're cast and brittle. I do agree that if your setting of the alarm regularly it's time to go to a more body building focused gym

as someone who’s worked at planet fitness going on 6 years the tootsies are mainly for people with low sugar and are new and come to the gym and overwork themselves. pizza monday was invented because power was out at one of the gyms and to stop members complaining about not being able to work out they gave away free pizza on the monday. it got great feedback from the afternoon crowd so they continued pizza mondays 5pm-8pm. morning gym goers got upset they didn’t receive anything so they introduced bagel tuesday for the morning crowd to shut them up basically. if you wanna know any other questions just ask 😂

Why does PF have arbitrary rules location per location? I understand some might be franchise but as a “gym” there’s some rules that shouldn’t be arbitrary. I've been the GM of two PF Clubs. The target PF member is a woman between 40 and 60 who only want to walk on treadmills or elipticals. This is why there is a strict dress code, no heavy weights, and the whole "lunker shaming." The tootsierolls are there literally to get you to stop at the desk so you can be up sold or sold something new. The pizza and bagels... the corporate story is that a PF in Connecticut has their hot water gobout during the winter, and to say "sorry" the club bought pizza for everyone who still came to work out. Then they kept doing it, Corporate got ahold of the idea and decided to do pizza one a month. They added bagels for the morning to keep the AM crowd happy. If 1 slice of pizza or 1 bagel, once a month, ruins your whole life, then you have other issues... at least that is the corporate line. The contract is crazy and they charge crazy fees for canceling early and have huge annual fees. Though, you do have 3 days to cancel without fees.

At the end of the day it’s an affordable space that has its downturns due to the cost such as the people (people doing bare minimum, kids and teens hanging out in large groups with friends, body builders hogging two or more machines at one time, ect). I’m not looking to be a body builder by any means but I will say I’m getting to the point strength wise where the weights aren’t heavy enough, however I have learned other exercises that can work around the weight being to low for specific movements. Overall, planet fitness isn’t great, but if you can plan out the times you go effectively and understand what you need to do for your specific goals before you get in the gym, it’s hard to complain about a $10 price tag.

Lol dress code is fine. You don't need boots sandals jeans or string tank tops to work out. As a body builder I find the hate it gets silly. It's a great gym and for most people it has everything they need. If you want to keep going you can always switch after

They target people that does little to no workout so they can oversell their gym membership.
@dead_vibes Жыл бұрын
If $10 a month is an oversell that sounds like a skill issue. You can get a medium sized pizza for $9.99.

Ah yes 10 dollars a month is oversell, gtfo with that shit

God forbid a gym caters to a majority of the population. It’s a starter gym. Most Americans have never truly worked out outside of PE class. A lot of more “serious” expensive gyms are incredibly intimidating for someone who’s never picked up a dumbbell. Let people learn and get acclimated to the world of fitness in peace. Everyone starts somewhere

I can honestly say that I've never experienced or witnessed anything crazy here at the planet fitnesses in WA state! Maybe other states are more strict, but here, there are all types of people in the gyms in little shorts and muscle shirts. Ripped/buff people, fat people, skinny people, average people. I have seen women AND men in crop tops and booty shorts. Thankfully they seem to be very relaxed in this state. The worst I've ever experienced was an employee tell me that I'm not allowed have gallon jugs as my water bottle, and then she handed me a free regular sized water bottle lol she was super cool! I've also never seen junk food being served and the people put in the work. I actually lost 30 lbs at planet fitness lol 😅 oh yeah! I've never actually seen the lunk alarm go off! The one time I've seen teenagers literally throwing their 25 lb weights hard on the floor, the staff member just kindly asked them to stop doing that 😂 Am I trippin or are some PF worse than others in different states?

i think planet fitness is a great gym for beginners, especially because they have free summer passes, allowing you to just walk in and workout.(pretty sure its like 14-19 only though). at the one i go to, their stuff isnt very limiting, they dont have any barbell type things but they have a ton of machines that i see usually go up over 200-250. and usually the staff really dont care what you wear i see people in tight clothes and people with tanktops and shorts.

In my planet fitness in maui it is actually treated as a gym. I can walk in there wearing stringers and lift as heavy as I want but ofcourse just don't be shouting/dropping heavy weights only exception really. They will never use the link alarm at all only as a alarm to tell everyone we are closed. Honestly the coolest planet fitness I go to it is just the equipment that is lacking and the weirdos there. Other then that it is a good place. Other planet fitnesses anyways is a no and in maui they don't give candy out or pizza. Tell me if other planet fitnesses in your area are actually cool.

When I was homeless, a planet fitness membership was worth more than the asking price. I was able to shower, eat for free depending on the day, and gave me a safe place to go at night because of being open 24 hours. The money I got from selling plasma to other odd ball ways to get money. Planet Fitness was the staple in my life that enabled me to survive on less than 100 dollars a month.
