I think BTS and The Weeknd are perfect examples of how corrupt the Grammys are. You can't tell me these two artists that are selling out stadium tours in the US aren't nominated for muliple Grammys. This has not happened to other artists. And I'd say nominations are actually worse now because artists who are now winning in major categories can't even sellout an arena tour, much less a stadium tour. Example: Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish cannot sell out even arena tours and yet they get multiple Grammys because they are industry darlings. The weekend snub could have been a blessing in disguise if it's causing changes to the academy voting system. Still a shame it had to be him. The Grammys are literally just a popularity contest where a bunch of celebrities pat each other on the back (for the most part at least). I think a big reason less and less people are watching is because people don't get their music from the radio anymore, you're not restricted to only hearing the music that DJs decide to play. Of course there was always word-of-mouth music discovery, but the age of the internet definitely expanded that by a lot since pretty much everyone on Earth is connected now. With places like KZbin and Soundcloud becoming the biggest sources of music discovery, people are able to discover different genres and smaller artists they enjoy that don't really fit into the categories or the image of the Grammys. It's easy to not give a fuck about the Grammys when you listen to none or even just a couple of the nominated artists. That's pretty much where I'm at, I haven't actively listened to the music of a single Grammy nominee in several years. Not trynna pretend like I'm super cool for that or anything, people like what they like, but I definitely think that the resources we have now to discover new music have for sure had an effect on people's desire to watch the Grammys.

Perhaps bc in the 80s-00s huge pop artists were not awarded and the academy often picked aging rock artists. It’s rather ridiculous how few Grammys legends like Madonna, Prince, Bowie, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson have in comparison to artists were present in the 2010s and on. These artists only boycott at this point when they get snubbed. I get so frustrated looking at black artist whine about the Grammys (which has been racist since is conception) only to continue to submit their work over there, while ignoring award shows like the soul train awards in the bounce trumpet awards. in my opinion, the reason no one watches award shows anyone or even cares it's because now they feel fake, everyone thinks they are entitle to one and the award shows started giving them out because of that, like "Make the Oscars more black" twitter thing, now it has no ratings and anytime someone of black or brown skin wins one you get tons of people thinking they got the pity/appeasement award and didn't earn it, Awards used to be earned, hell even Michael Jackson lost grammys many times before and after thriller, that's life you can't just demand to win, you win if you win and that's it. in the end it's just some rich asshole getting an award, why would any normal person care is beyond my understanding XD

Its all about the voting process. Most award shows ALLOW THE PUBLIC TO VOTE ON WHO THEY WANT TO WIN. The people who won grammys have been voted by their peers in the industry not by the public. If the public gets to choose who should win a Grammy the show would be a little bit better.

Lemonade is a straight up clone of the albums Beth Hart puts out. Adele's career has been trying sing like Beth Hart. The reason Beth Hart doesn't get nominations is because nobody in the U.S. knows who she is. The Grammys gets it money from ad revenue which is based on viewers and they think the viewers want to tune into watching the biggest stars.

I just don't like the Grammys because I feel like it doesn't properly represent what it awards, hell I don't think any music award show properly presents what it awards (but hey maybe I'm just a bit biased on that). They Grammys have made a ton of bad decisions that would've destroyed their reputation but they still somehow have stayed relevant all these years.
