The OG's had a forefoot zoom pod too, but Nike skimped out a couple of years ago, 2017 to be exact and put foam in the forefoot. Chinese bloggers at that time actually uncovered that fumble by deconstructing the shoes, and when that happened, people who bought the 15's (from that previous retro) cried out since Nike described the shoes with having both the forefoot and heel with Zoom Air on their website. What happened next was, Nike actually offered refunds and an additional 25% off for all those dissatisfied customers.

I'm one of the weirdos that actually like 15s for being so different and think they look great on foot. That being said, I never wear mine because 15s are hands down the most uncomfortable shoe I own and my chief complaint is that raised arch in the outsole. 😂😂😂 appreciate the breakdown.

Reading the story behind the 15s is kinda depressing though given Tinker's losses at the time with Nike co-founder and personal coach, Bill Bowerman, passing away around that time along with his dad and MJ's dad a few years prior. No wonder he considers this his worst design, what a heavy load of baggage one had to go through designing something along with burnout.

Had these from when they came out and used them for high school basketball. Some of the best basketball shoes I have ever had. I remember it was like having your ankles taped so I never rolled one in them. Not sure if they helped any aspect of my game but I never worried about something I couldn't do in them... and they were definitely one of the most comfortable shoes after you fought them alittle to get them on. Definitely felt like the perfect glove.... if I see them in black on black definitely getting them again....

This was the Jordan that made me stop buying Jordans. I literally bought every Jordan in all 3 original colors from 1991 until this thing came out. It was hard to get on, the sole was rock hard and in an attempt to prevent supination (rolling your ankle outward) it forced you to over pronate - forcing your ankle inward. Plus it was just ugly. There's a reason they don't release any retros after the 14. These suck. Full stop.

Dude, did you even PLAY in the 15s (OGs specifically)? There were some QC concerns but I didn't find any fault in my 2 OG pairs. The biggest problem was forefoot support, possibly the fit as well due to how narrow the eyelets were placed on the shoe. This meant folks couldn't get tight enough of a fit in the front 2/3 of the eyelets hence the lack of support in this area. Coupled with a very rigid heel counter, this created an imbalance that not a lot of folks could get used to. Material could've been better for strength & ventilation, but OG pairs were buttery and plush with the Zoom units, along with excellent traction and outriggers for torsional stability. The slightly raised midfoot (9:04) was more for heel-to-toe transition than traction, hence it was a softer material. Since most folks tend to strike their feet and stop motion with their forefoot or heel, I'm not sure why traction is a emphasis here. That's like complaining traction isn't good in the same area for a pair of boots with a substantial heel block. The slim shank was meant for guiding forward momentum rather than for rigidity (10:52) and unlike in boots, you DO need the front of a BASKETBALL shoe to bend for that first step or any activity (ex. jumping) that requires a toe-off movement. Arguably the placement of that bend isn't optimal but given how wide and substantial that midfoot section is, there was plenty stability & rigidity. Ankle support came primarily from the dominant heel counter, the super-sized outriggers and the big-boy midfoot section. While the ankle collar focused exclusively on range of motion and freedom of ankle movement, it went completely against the grain of the popular belief ankle lockdown=ankle protection that persisted mainly until Kobe 4. The 15s may honestly be JB's biggest flop ever, but this vid completely fails to properly offer a valid review because it is based on the expectations of a walking shoe/boot not for the 15s intended use and target audience. The OGs were some of the most underrated Jordans ever and JB didn't do any service when they switched the forefoot Zoom with a rubber puck.
@bravado28094 ай бұрын
He reviewed them as lifestyle shoes. Which is a valid viewpoint to share, because they're Jordans. Of course it's not the full picture, and I think the review could do more to convey that. But it's unfair to say the video completely failed at doing something it didn't even attempt.
@justinc50434 ай бұрын
Fair. Then I find the title misleading, because clearly the OG 15s weren't the same as the retro 15s and the OG 15s were NOT a lifestyle shoe but a performance basketball shoe. The review absolutely could be from a lifestyle perspective (in which case, no one strikes their feet in the midfoot section and stops their motion from that area still), but the 15s weren't the biggest flop because they failed as a lifestyle shoe.
