When they were revealing trailers i was skeptical about even getting into a tekken, but then her trailer dropped and it reminded me of the cool things i like about Makoto in street fighter and it sealed me getting the game and playing her no matter what

My first tekken game, what made me main her is the fact that she's a mishima and isnt jin, kazuya or devil jin, the feeling of hitting a successful electric combo just isn't matched by any other character for me. Also the design it top.

Picked up for voice and attitude(headbutting, stomping and dragging people across the floor), stayed for moveset. All her buttons look and feel great with auto parry being a cherry on top

Reina is definitely fantastic addition to the cast. She’s charismatic as hell and Asami Seto does an excellent job bringing the character to life especially when her voice shifts from cutesy to menacing. She has a flashy, brutal, and well animated fighting style. It helps that she mostly has her own style instead of just being a Heihachi clone. Her visual design is simple yet feels distinctive. I’m glad Reina is going to be a mainstay in the cast. She’s a cooler and evil version of Asuka. Ironic as the purpose of their creation is thematic as Asuka was created as a replacement for Jun moveset-wise while Reina was created as a replacement for Heihachi moveset-wise. Reina is essentially how Asuka would turn out if she was a Mishima rather than a Kazama.

I never played a ranked in fighting games and never thought of buying Tekken 8, especially at full price. However, Reina's reveal trailer sold me the game in seconds. Everything about her is fantastic, no fighting character has ever made such a stunning impression on me. Still learning her, at Garyu now, but sure I will make it to Fujin at least.

She gives me vibes similar to that of Armor King. I love that arrogant trash-talk she does and can back that up! Her animations are amazing and her voice is perfect! IF I HAVE TO NITPICK, I'd say that maybe they could've gone for just a tad bit older version but I think that wouldn't make much sense story wise imo. I still love her as she is though. Her banter, her trash-talk, the movement and animations, her fighting style. A very VERY special character indeed.

She's great. When i saw the character for the first time, i got the motivation to relearn mishima fundamentals. My favorite thing in general about Reina is her diverse and fluid moveset. It always pains me to see fellow reinas only use ff2 since they only have explored not even 10% of the character.

I came over from street fighter during mid tekken 7 to pick up akuma, and I kinda fell in love with tekken. I honestly wasnt going to get Tekken 8 because i was a bit disappointed not having Akuma in the roster, but after seeing reina's trailer, i pre ordered it that day. Something about disrespectfully dragging kazuya across the floor made me so happy 😂 And as of last night, im only a couple ranks away with reina from where my akuma ended in tekken 7

I think spammy gets mixed up with what they get hit with is actually pressure. She applies a lot of it with plenty of mix ups. But so many of them are interruptible & as popularity grows, players will grow to counter her. I like Reina, as I main her. but for me, learning fundamentals & tackling a complex character as a intermediate player; the ceiling is so high lol

Haven't tried her yet since I've primarily played Jin. Though considering the core of her gameplay is a Mishima style character, I've definitely considered looking into her later on after I feel confident enough in my Jin. Also helps that her design actually looks like a cool female character as opposed to many "cool female characters" created by a lot of western developers. Though she'll be waiting in the background as the third or fourth character I'll sink my teeth into after Devil Jin and Kazuya. Though when I reach experimenting with either Kazuya or Reina it'll be a coin flip. I'd made up my mind to main both Jin and Devil Jin for T8. Hope that it goes well.

Im a Reina main myself, i chose her because i LOVE her design especially for as a female Mishima!! She has LOTS of mixups and ofc pluses😏, and i like characters who use bith hands and feet for a fight. The moment i saw the crazy amount of stances she has, thats when i took the game more serious and LABBED the hell out of her each and every single day since lanuch😈 rn im in the very middle of Orange Ranks and i want to continue but ima be completely honest, its not ONLY the plugging but the point system HAS to be fixed. @@BoogardSure, that'd be sensible but as the game wears on and when you look at the success of story follow-up DLC in other fighting games like MK Aftermath I just don't know if they can resist. Especially if the game's lifecycle is going to be as long as T7's. Sure, she'll probably be the main antagonist of the next game but if she appeared as a boss only for example that would still build hype for her to be a full character later.

I doubt she’ll get nerfed, her win/loss ratio isn’t great and her gameplay is so fun. I’m guessing after Evo is when Namco will unleash the true balance patch. Bring some of the top tiers down a bit. Side note imo only 1+2 grabs should be able to catch sidestep.

The biggest issue with Reina genuinely is her popularity. She’s one of those characters I’ve faced so much I kinda got it down how to beat her at this point. Which honestly her being so popular is a good problem to have

People play Raina because she plays the game for you. She doesn’t seem to be top tier but more like you’re using special controls She has a degree of auto pilot built into a Mishima/hwoarang style

The endless plus really makes her unbearable to deal with. When it's your turn that ff2 just catches you across the map and from there you just eat easy execution mixups. I block it's never my turn. I step, she's halfway across the map to punish.

Her FF2 Sentai 3 is her most common option since it leaves her plus on block, but it's duckable (which means you can launch her for it) and you can trade by jabbing. Her second most common mix with sentai 3 is sentai 4 which also leaves her plus on block, except you can float her out of it by, again, jabbing her which gives you a combo. Sentai 2 is faster than sentai 3 and is good when you want to start ducking, but is punishable on block, and sentai 1, 2 is punishable as well. Her unblockable grab is duckable. You never feel like it's your turn because you don't know the frames, Reina nearly always has to take some kind of risk to be plus (FF2 into Sentai is one of the only cases where she's just plus but her options afterward have counterplay) Not to mention if Reina decides to FF2 from Max range it's steppable and doesn't track after the move comes out.

@@tmscribble5889 I like how you just highlighted the problem while simultaeously underestimating the fact that even the scrubs are now learning. In fact most Reina's I come across actually FF2 sentai 2 to mid check me and is relatively safe due to pushback and the frames, not every character has the right punish for the right situation, some punishes lack range. Another thing, some Reina's actually do not commit to the sentai sometimes. And you are making it sound as if fighting someone automatically makes you able to know whether they will mid check or high... Doesn't help that her Sentai 2 is 12-13 while her sentai 2 is 12. Meaning flash ducking gets you clipped more than necessary and most reinas I face rarely do the grab. The sentai into 4 is manageable but leaves me to be stun locked with f4. I do not like to press. But now the issue is 1: you can never really know when that Reina will FF2 cause God forbid God Step 3,2 exists and that is a plus mixup. Stepping isn't heaven sent because she has other tools to catch you. and when she has control it's plus plus plus. Do not assume everyone playing Reina is a newbie because there are still really good players who pick her up as well. Cause the scrubby ones are manageable.

@@Perry_Talion I get not liking to press against Reina, but the fact of the matter is that all of her options out of FF2 have some kind of counterplay. This isn't a Dragunov WR2 that forces you to eat his mixup options that are pretty safe all round, or he just WR2 again to make you guess a second time and mix you up. Most of her options out of FF2 sentai are launchable on prediction (Sentai 3 and grab, and you can float her out of 4, sentai 1, 2 is launchable) which forces her not to be predictable and deters her from using her best option which is sentai 3 (and more and more players are expecting the sentai 3 to start anyway which means sentai 2 is actually the better option to begin with) but what does she get off it? If you guess wrong, she's in heat off sentai 3 which is scary, but otherwise the most she gets is a EWGK which is... Decent, but isn't scary enough that you can't challenge her. If she doesn't commit to sentai, she's minus on FF2 which means it's back to neutral with an advantage your way if she decides to press. You are right that you need know when Reina will FF2 and it's far easier to say "Just step it lol" than to actually do it, but I would say most low level Reina will default to FF2 and just mix you up from sentai rather than wind step 3, 2, and higher rank Reina with the execution would probably rather wavedash into you which since it covers far more space, allows for EWGF pressure, hell sweep into HW or EWGK if she thinks you're gonna duck, which is standard Mishima tech and is less a Reina problem and more a Mishima problem. A lot of the time when Reina is plus on you she doesn't have huge damage if you take a risk on her, taking a risk once or twice on her FF2 mixup is infinitely less scary than Dragunov, Jun, Xiaoyu or anyone else who is considered a top tier. She has a lot of plus frames, yes. But that threat is reduced by the fact she has approximately 0 threat in lows apart from CH 2nd hit of Hellsweep 4 which gives a small combo with WS3 at close range and when she IS plus on you, unless she has the hardest of reads and goes either EWGF or DF2 expecting you to press, her mixups aren't ultra scary and you can even eat them a few times given she's only getting 30 - 50 damage off them. She's a pressure monster, sure. So is half the roster, but I think she's far more manageable than people seem to make her out to be and her options aren't as scary as people make them out to be either. But Reina heat is terrifying, miss me with that.

@tmscribble5889 I would rather face off with Drag and Jun honestly. The only issue I have with Reina is that her speed of play just makes dealing with her horrible. The amount of options she has most being under 13 frames is the real problem. It's not a matter of " I cannot win" against her but more of a matter of having to play a game of fast paced chess against her. Seeing how most will always go for Fast - Safe options. Occasionally I launch her options but the real problem is how fast those options happen. Even for a Mishima. Reina is still a problem because at any point in Neutral. Anything is possible with guaranteed followups. At any point in Wavu- She will parry my jab, go under fast highs or do an attack faster than any of my kicks most of the time or her FF2 which is faster than my fastest mid 12 vs 13. Which most of the time the trade is in her favor should we cross or have her put in a "minor" inconvenience should I win. I am not disagreeing with you but I do agree. The issue I have is the options she has just in Neutral, and pray you don't eat a launcher.

Overall 6/10 Character to me personally. Personality and moveset are what you'd expect/want out of Heihachi's daughter, but the default design is just too generic for me. A more robust physical build with spiky hair and some lightning motifs in her outfit would've been sold me on her more. Still a welcome addition to the cast.

Reina even used Mishima-Ryu Karate in story mode like Heihachi, so there's no big surprise there. Her outfits are subjective (to me, her overall design is a 6/10), you do you I guess, on that front.

It's insane to me the amount of cope the community has when it comes to Reina. She is extremely mash friendly and has amazing frame traps,great pressure, and movement for free. Not to mention you can do easily do a wind god step. She's is overrated in terms of difficulty she's low intermediate at best.

Get those 13f electrics on ws3+4, CH HW1 and CH ws2 in matches and then you can talk about her difficulty. Everybody can mash in Tekken 8 that's not an argument. The windgodstep input is useless to a real player since it doesn't allow just frame Electrics, I guess you still have a lot to learn before you can argue on this subject.

Really well designed and great moveset. It's a shame however that 99% of Reina players just spam the same flash punch into sentai throw string, double/triple rolling cartwheel kicks and hellsweep into hunting hawk into heaven's wrath throw over and over and over and over and over again so she is actually a total snore fest to go against online mostly.

If 112 sentai is working then why would people change or not use it? I use Paul and I only mostly (spam) death fist and demo man pseudo mix up to knowledge check low level players. If the "mix up" works, i don't feel the need to change my tactics.

I actually don't like reina. She's an uncreative mash up of modern tropes. A cocky young Asian girl waifu with a purple streak wearing some kind of vtuber like cyber punk getup. Her gameplay is literally forced mixup over and over again with ff2. (Julia ff1 + mishima tools). Heihachi is a million times the character she is.

Reina is the antithesis of Azucena which is currently winning the worse Tekken 8 character design. She's got an awful animation (eyes don't blink and her facial expressions don't match her jumpy persona), she has no personality other than coffee, and people only play her because of the busted while running move.
