Sorry Ken. I like your show, and the good intentions behind your messages. But you’re wrong on this one, and not a very constructive way to help your audience. I can confirm the ghost jobs out there, as recruiters have admitted to be that many job postings were not actual jobs. I also host my own podcast and discuss the industry of motion design, and studio owners and freelancers can all confirm that projects have been getting canceled and bookings cancelled due to budgets being cut and layoffs affecting business relationships. Nothing new to the business landscape, but there has absolutely been a huge slow down over the past year in our field. Regarding “the data”… You shouldn’t blindly read stats and assume everything is “good”. What jobs are being counted? What income do those jobs bring? You should elaborate and shed light on the ACTUAL data before calling your audience “lazy”. I have peers with stellar resumes / portfolios that have worked at all the major studios and tech companies… And they are struggling to find work. So don’t follow “the data”. Ask your audience what their everyday looks like before just throwing out a blanket statement.

I can vouch for this. I work in staffing and have see multiple industries such as manufacturing are in hiring freezes or cutting back on work Ken, like Dave Ramsey, is out of touch with mainstream workers. He has a relatively safe job that pays well so he doesn't know what it's like for people who don't have job stability or are in industries at risk or layoff. Him reading "data" from the government when it's being manipulated is disingenuous, especially ad most of the jobs are either part-time, or go to industries which don't generate wealth, namely government, healthcare, and social services.

This is what I run into! There are a lot of job postings that are scams or mlms. It’s hard to filter out the noise. And some of us don’t have the resources to go to reputable job sites that are legit and not flooded with scams. When I do find job postings that are legitimate, they are asking for people with 5+ years of experience. I graduated from university a year ago. This entire year I have not been successful. I keep trying though. Maybe one company that is legitimate and not a scam that is willing to hire new graduates and want to train employees will hire me. Who knows?

The job market is terrible! My son and his girlfriend both lost their jobs that they had for years when Rite Aid closed. They cannot get a job to save their souls. They have applied to tons and tons of jobs, even part time jobs, and completely ghosted. They won't respond to calls or emails. Just dead silence. They are about to lose their apartment as they have been burning through their savings. They are extending their reach to other places but so far not even an interview. So, tell me again how good the job market is. Also, I am 66 years old, and I have had a few jobs. Yes, I had to apply at multiple locations, but it never took me long to get an interview and a job. Completely different from now. It's also very unprofessional for companies to not have at least some response to an applicant. Even if it's just a small email or text.

That's the problem. You need to narrow your job search and personalize the resume and cover letter to each job. Leave off things like " honest, hard worker, creative." Your resume will go in the trash if you do that. Highlight what you have accomplished at each job. Consider city, county and state jobs as well as school district jobs.

Does anyone actually believe the government data? We know inflation is vastly more than they claim and every single time they release unemployment numbers they have to adjust it later showing fewer jobs available. Next question is what kinds of jobs are available? Many people are forced to work multiple jobs just to pay for basics so when many have multiple jobs, it skews the numbers as well.
@BamaPatriot61
@BamaPatriot61 10 ай бұрын
@@maddy-zzz So having a job does not remove that job from the numbers? Seems logical to me that any job that is filled makes the overall number lower, so the fact that many are working multiple jobs would impact the overall rate.

@@maddy-zzz yes they do skew. If you take a part time role it counts as another job created. If you get laid off and take 3 part time jobs to make ends meet it counts as 2 jobs created. That shows a tighter labor market. That is a lie. Also if the only jobs in 2022 were minimum wage unfilled but people have to take it then that counts as jobs filled and a lower unemployment rate. How many applicants how been screened? 2) What is the high, low, and average of said job(s)? 3) Of the people that are employed how many are working multiple jobs? 4) The jobs that were "created" has anyone verified that these are real openings, or is these postings used to create a company pipeline? 5) If the Job market is a strong as you say, it should go w/o saying that Biden and his cabinet will be reelected, right?

Job market does not equal recession. It is lagging indicator after a recession has already started. When the recession already starts is when we found out after the layoffs have started. Likewise during a boom employers lag creating jobs unless they have too. Where I work we have a hiring freeze but all but the most essential roles which are just refills. My brothers company had 2 rounds of layoffs and got rid of bonuses. My Linked In has become quiet and only temp contract roles paying less than what I make occasionally contact me. I see it. So do others. 6 months from now we will see the real numbers of layoffs and be officially be in a recession
