I agree. I think Fantasia should've blew up longevity wise. Her voice and personality is one of a kind. I think better song writing and being more diverse could push her to be a superstar; she's like a adult contemporary artist this time around. The industry did Fantasia wrong, she was very underappreciated but she has a very unique sound, every time I hear one of her songs on the radio, I immediately recognize it's her, because of her signature voice. Now I'm not sure if colorism or feuturism comes into it, but it's very common for many black female artists to succeed because they are lighter skinned than other darker skinned black female artists.

Fantasia did alright but she boxed herself in trying to sing simple r and b and gospel songs. She never quite found that identity outside of black tailored r&b music, Auntie music. When I see you, is a certified classic.

Idk about this one. Technically her growth may have been stunted, but I think there are too many others who couls be highlighted over her. She's still relevant. She's not a superstar on Beyonce level, but she's still out here and I feel like if she put a new album out, she still could sell really well. I think American Idol just didn’t know what to do with her. I think she could have been the black version of Kelly Clarkson with the right team around her. Also, she could have been just a bit too hood or a bit too illiterate to seek out the right people around her. American Idol couldn’t market R&B or soulful contestants that won, and Fantasia was miles ahead of Reubon Studdard or Jordan Sparks. I truly do think she could have gone as high as Kelly Clarkson with the right team around her. Way too talented not to.

If songs like, "when I see you" "Truth Is" and "Free Yourself" are just average generic R&B songs I must just be ignorant and hood then because in my opinion those are some of the best songs of the last 20 years from ANY genre. Go to Trap Karaoke or R&B or shit even a brunch and see if people don't go absolute nuts singing their hearts out to those songs. I feel like this page is usually pretty spot on but, the statements in this one are wild. I can see an argument for the personal things and drama negatively affecting her career. But to say that she was basically mediocre talent wise is madness. Fantasia would DESTROY Adele and Beyonce too vocally. I guess she didn't go out of her way to pander to colonizers but who cares about them. Not everyone should have to completely sellout. I'm honestly shocked to see her talent assassinated like this.
