My friend was working as teacher in school, he brought a bike on EMI which did not fit into any rule according to his salary at that point. After buying the bike he started giving home tution in the evening as traveling to tutions via public transport was buring his time. Now he is earning more money in the tution business tha his school salary, even after changing his main job and getting higher salary than before. If he at that time followed those finance influencers he would still be doing monthly sip of 1500 rupees instead of earning 3 times of what he was earning. All because he bought a bike which provided him the mobility to earn more.

Most of the people who consider cars as a status symbol are those who have recently entered a financially stable condition. My family were Zamindars and had multiple cars since the British period, many were imported like dodges etc. for me a car is just a mode of transportation. Even now none of my family members cars are more than 15 lac even though most of my family can buy 20 lac cars in just 2-3 months through agricultural income. Your car doesn't speak about your social status at all, it comes down to actual money and your family history.

Fintech guys are not wrong. I wasted a great deal of my hard earned money on iwing and maintaining a car since 2005 and regret it these days. Back then cabs were expensive and aggregators were not available, however now a days there are ao many options. Yes some times you will get struck but planning helps at cost of convenience. Also remember that a large part of the population park their cars on roads as they lack parking. Its heart wrenching to see your property damaged or stolen when you cannot safeguard it. My Diesel car is actually cheaper than the petrol car of the same trim when I include running costs. The actual difference between a petrol and diesel car in my case was roughly 1 lakh (= ₹2000/month in EMI) BUT, in the early 8-10 months, my usage was so much that I was saving 4000+/month in just fuel expenses. Soon after I got a raise and the extra ₹2000 didn't even matter anymore 😂.

Sir. I chose car as mode of transport. I purchased Tata nano 2 years back for 35000. Spend 15000 as maintenance since purchase. 5000 as insurance. Drive approx 10000. Average of car is 17kmpl. So petrol cost 58000. Using car for 2 years cost me around 113000 Indian rupees. I had plan to buy Honda Jazz for 350000. That was on hold seller asking for 385000. In between I found 2010 model Tata nano in very good condition. My decision was absolutely correct because initially people was making fun of me including my wife. But after sometime they was asking if I have any contact for tat nano. 😂 I am still getting 45000 for this car on OLX. Hope this will help you.. I am fan of your work. Price of used cars in 2024 has gone up unrealistically, I always bought used cars before because a car is a depreciating asset, I bought a 2008 Swift with 8,000 kms on the ODO at 3 lakhs in 2014 and a 2011 Sx4 with 35k kms on the ODO in 2018 for 1.5 lakhs, now in 2024 I was looking for either a used Maruti or Hyundai sedan, premium hatchback or compact SUV with criteria being the car should not be more than 6 years old and not have more than 50k kms on the ODO, couldn't find anything less than 6 lakhs that was worth buying, even a 2016 Baleno, an eight year old car with 15K Kms on the ODO had an asking price of 5.7 lakhs. Made the decision to go for a brand new car considering the amount of discounts being offered and Just booked a Fronx with an on road price of a little north of 8 lakhs, with the asking prices of Used cars today it just makes more sense to put an additional 2-3 lakhs and buy a new car, btw I sold my SX4 in 2024 for more than I bought it in 2018, that should tell you how much of a sellers market the used car market has become in India

Used Honda City is the best option, i have owned 2 generations of City, except for the ground clearance part, those cars are made to last and very comfortable as well. I had a used Skoda Rapid TDi after 2 used Honda Citys and I now own a Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT. Its been a year since we bought it. Total VFM. Yes, the interiors may not be to everybody's liking, but 4 star safety rating, space and most of the creature comforts. Very underrated product by Nissan.

Maine bhi 4-5 mahine research kiya with 3 basic requirements - ABS, Airbags, a good audio system and criteria - Age 7 saal se kam, running 50000 se kam and no repainting done. Bahot dhundne ke baad mujhe meri Tigor mili OLX pe - Top end version, 4 years and 20k km run, direct owner, mint condition. Sirf 5 lakhs me. I am very happy with it.

if you are someone who has knowledge about cars, best thing is to go for second hand car. Use olx, directly contact owner and do the inspection. I purchased i20 2013 model for 3.2 lakh in 2019 at 34k running which today is running at 89k without any issue.

It will be 9.15Laapko sell karne ke baad 7.1L mile, jiska use aap new car lene ke liye hi karoge. Aur ye 7.1L inflation adjusted bhi nhi hai, nominal return to 11L hai,2nd case me.

वीडियो बिल्कुल सही हे लेकिन इसके साथ साथ लोगो को ये भी समझना चाइए की गाड़ी की जरूरत कितनी हे। अगर साल ४ से ५ हजार किलोमीटर भी गाड़ी नही चलेगी तो नही लेना चाइए। और अगर पार्किंग की समस्या हे तो नही लेनी चाइए। अपने देश में आधे लोगो की गाड़ी घर के बाहर रास्ते पर खड़ी होती हे जिससे सबको तकलीफ होती हे। और अगर गाड़ी बाहर खड़ी हे और किसी कारण वश आपातकालीन परिस्थिति की संभावना हो गई तो विमा कंपनी वाले पैसा नही देते हे। शहर में कितने गाडियां रास्ते पर खड़ी होती हे चलने में तकलीफ होती जो कभी भी नही हटती वहा से। जरूरत हो तो गाडियां खरीदे।

Tbh car’s should not be taken on EMI. I bought 3 used cars over the period of 11 years before buying my first new car and all were bought on cash. I didn’t even wanted to buy a new car but my spouse forced me😢😢….my used cars were fantastic plus I used local garage for maintenance of my used cars which was much cheaper compared to brand garage the only catch is you should know cars before buying a used car. And if you are doing maintenance in local garage then I would recommend you buy spares on your own and give them to the mechanic instead of asking him to buy it for you. My used cars were as follows Honda City second generation 2010 for 150k (don’t remember build year) Hyundai Accent 2012 for 200k (2008 model) I sold it for scrap in 2023 as 15 years were completed and the guy drove that car to scrap yard Mahindra XUV 500 W8 2016 for 750k(2012 model) still in my native and my bro using it as can’t drive it anymore in NCR

Hope peoples will be more mindful towards their choicees and decision making. What they really need and what they should buy based on their needs.

We bought used, Qualis, Clocked 3,00,000 kms, sold without having any engine issue, Verna Fluidic Diesel, 1 year used ,top variant , still running 1,50,000kms, Xuv500, w10, 8 months used, still running 1,10,000kms. We just bought brand new Swift Vdi in 2008 and i10. There is no shame is buying used car and being financially smart. There is only one condition- Do through research before buying used car.

Right now there is a massive increase in inventory days for the dealerships. They are pushing off their inventories in discounted rates which are supposed to increase in coming days. Make a video on this. I think if we can crack a better deal for the 2023 model in their inventories with 15-20% depreciation that will be a great deal, an easy 25-33% off deal. And no hassle of buying a used car. Make a video on this bruv!

This is just an opinion and better suited for youngsters. If we really think in terms of children, family, home loan and pension fund investments what Ankur says isn't wrong. Also petrol prices are rising (and in 5 years surely gonna jump) and so is the cost of car so calculation could be adjusted for a couple of factors. Finally, people use public transportation for 70% of their commute and cabs / autos for rest 30%. This really does saves the cost.

In 2021, I bought a CRDi i20 from Spinny for 6.2 lakhs, a bit high price for 5 year old then. But boy oh boy, It has given amazing performance till now and nothing made me this happy in last 5 years. I am thoroughly enjoying this BS3 diesel without any new generation gimmicks. And I would say that was one of my best decision.

Another point ... using s ride for my daily office commute I get back decent percentage of my petrol cost back as carpool money.. I help reduce 3 taxi rides by taking 3 of my neighbors to office and back.. At the same time 2L petrol costs 220 and I get back about 150 back in rideshare

This is also not taking into consideration the cost of living. If you work in such a place, chances are your income is also high (er than the average) and therefore it makes more sense to save as much as possible and invest elsewhere (your hometown, business, real estate)
