@@tomgirl366In a country where majority of population goes tripsy on a damn 2 wheeler, a nano is anyday way safer than that. And we can't talk about build quality where most of us don't even wear seat belts properly and where people boast about 5 stars ncap but don't have a life insurance. Perhaps we collectively drive more sensibility rather than call anything a tin can or a tank?
@tomgirl366

@@anujartt depends on budget I will never buy Nano if I have budget of 8 lakhs. Nano may save much of my money if I only go to office comes back homes with short city distance n repeats everyday or u have no option for tight budget. I travel far a lot on different road condition and compact suv is only option also nowdays base models are giving airbags crash detection etc with global ncap 5 star 4 star etc. So why not to take advantage by spending few lakhs more. Because car is car and bikes are bikes they are two wheeler but if u buy a car nowdays make sure they poor built quality can rise ur medical bill equals to bmw car even with insurance the car can make you forever disable.
@anujartt

@@tomgirl366 My point is that build quality isn't the only factor in making a purchase decision, rather its just one of the ways to be safe out there. Bcz even a 5 star rated car can turn out fatal due to another idiot driving rash. So let's just be a responsible driver whether driving a 1 star or a 5 star rated car. Only then will the safety rating make more sense.

That is actually a valid reason. In India, especially the north, I found that many places that are not central locations have somewhat inferior roads compared to metropolitan locations. In such cases, taking a car with a high ground clearance even if it costs more than a regular car makes sense since it plays into the safety aspect of the passengers. Less vibration and shocks received by the passengers = no health complications such as spine problems or neck problems.

The mantra for Buying a Car should be - "The Cost of the Car that we Buy should not be more than 50% our annual Income".... For Eg - If Someone's Annual income is 12 Lacs, it shall spend Maximum 6 Lacs on its Car.... With this math, there will be no Financial Burden on the Buyer.... I personally follow this principle, my Annual Income is around 20 Lacs and my Car price is 9.7 Lacs ....

I still drive it till date and will continue to do so until I squeeze every inch and drop of the car and its not road legal anymore. i think another reason for increase in the sale of SUV's is Indian market's shift towards better safety, which we have observed in all of Tata's models, which shows a sign of maturity and understanding of practicality of an Indian Consumer. Spending 8 -10 Lakhs on a Car like Punch or Nexon (which is a crossover of a hatchback and SUV but essentially has that SUV feel ) instead of Swift or Baleno or Brezza which offers shit build quality but high mileage, seems much more practical or better for an Indian Consumer. THere is more nuance in purchasing decision than just 'show off'. Also Financing a used car is shitty process and has a very high interest rate.

And one thing, don't spend too much on EMI...like if you could able to pay all the EMI's within 2 years that would add more stability to financial management and mainly gets rid of your EMI headache. I'm waiting for someone how could correct me if I'm wrong at this... It would be highly appreciated to share their knowledge here.

Lot of wisdom packed in small video. Hats off to the team for similar great content on your channel. I went against the market trend of show-baazi and bought Tata Tigor petrol. Literally No one buys this car. But it has spot on handling, steering, great suspension. Cabin comfort is great. Big boot that satisfied my touring requirements. Engine is not spunky and is not that refined. But the car is 4* safety rated. It is also very compact so I feel no stress when driving through tight spots, city traffic etc. With BH registration it costed me just ₹8L. Which is much less than 3 times my annual earnings. I don't worry too much on mileage as I know I haven't spent crazy amount upfront anyways. And I only took 40% of cost as loan, that too to save some liquidity. I may look small, insignificant in front of other 95% financed hulking "SUVs". But I know I have made the most practical decision both requirement wise and money wise. In a way I am standing out in the crowd now and I like it 😅

One perspective I like to add is, see car is a big one time purchase and will improve social status as well as specs. Lets say you buy a car with low spec - you will end up thinking to buy a better car in next 5-8 years. Rather then that paying twice. Proper model car even if its a bit expensive need to be bought so you can keep it for next 15 years. Small car will always need an upgrade down the line. I do think Indians are making right decisions because we are known to be good with money. Atleast compared with others.

I always buy a second hand car. My first car was Renault kwid (used) bought for 2.5L and sold it for 2.20L after using it for 2.5 years. I currently own a ford aspire Tdci titanium which I bought for 4.9L. You can always go for used cars to have a better deal.
