Right, everythings become so hard! I didn't get into the PhD program I wanted, noone would answer to my applications and CVS, so I focused on writing my novel and then I had to start creating my own opportunities: I found a room to host an acting course from September and I'm now promoting it, the people who rent me the place liked my CV so I did some random collaborations with them as interviewer and teacher, which led to some other occasional jobs at a summer camp as video editor and language/acting teacher. Moreover I had the idea of writing an article about an event they let me partecipate in and I went to a local newspaper office just outside my home the next day to see if they were interested. They loved it even if it was my first article ever and by chance they were looking for someone to hire part time (at the beginning at least) so they asked me if I wanted to start an intership right away. I never dreamed of becoming a journalist but I love writing and learning and I'm interested in the publishing world as well as many other things. So I'm happy cuz I didn't just wait around. Today you need to push and push, act on ideas, go for it, do the work and make people see you can do it. The acting academy helped me a lot with the interpreneur mindset, how to market yourself. We need to be brave if we want a chance. Times have changed

The biggest problem is that too many people have diplomas. Before you had to work harder than most people to be accepted or you needed to be able to afford to study. They removed that barrier of entry and we got a much worse one, which is the job market itself while you're likely buried in debt and with a degree you can't use to get a comfortable job that pays well because you're easily replaceable after hiring, and you're an abundant resource before.
@mrbanditos35834 ай бұрын
Another problem is that many fields do require degrees. There may be too many workers of actual fields where you need a degree, because of the dangers related to it. To put it simply, some countries have restrictions that X cannot work without Y. Ofc it does not apply to many of the fields.
@TheSimArchitect4 ай бұрын
@@mrbanditos3583 The problem is that we need a certain percentage of people doing unskilled work. Those were traditionally the ones who could not score well on tests or that preferred less responsibility for a lower pay. There's plenty of low skill positions open and many people are working on those even after going through the pain, effort and expenses involved with obtaining a degree. That's also why the rich want us having tons of babies, because the more abundant we are, the lower our cost is. Plus they get more consumers to leverage profits. Even if society benefits as a whole, we don't.
@TheSimArchitectАй бұрын
@@mrbanditos3583 Most people want to make more money while providing the lowest return (less effort, less risk etc). It used to be difficult to be accepted at college, and graduate. The reward was a market with low competition and high salaries. Now anybody can sign their financial freedom to get a loan (instead of working a few summers) to pay for college and there's too many available spots to study things with pretty low demand and relevance (yes, I dare to say a plumber is necessary in much higher numbers than people that study philosophy and gender studies, sorry). Same happens with housing, though. There's absolutely no shortage of medium and upper class homes. The bottom tiers, the non discretionary fraction, of everything, is the problem. Being that food, basic health care, transportation, insurance, you name it. I wish I were wrong but that's I see, sorry.

Well, 90 percent of video's that, I have seen on KZbin of unemployed professionals have all been in the Computer Science (CS)/Information Technology (IT) field which, for some reason is now coded named "Tech". In the early 1980's, I earned my B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. But, I am not seeing many video post of 9-month to 18-month unemployed civil, mechanical, industrial, and electrical engineers looking for a job. Sometimes jobs that were in high demand one year a few years later they, just are not in demand anymore. However, I will say as someone who was unemployed in both my 30's and again unemployed in my 40's, it has always been hard finding a new job but, staying active in various professional associations within ones field makes a major difference (smile ... smile).

Don’t stress over these employers playing ghosting games, trying to lowball and still get quality (desperate) applicants. Job losses are hitting multiple industries, and when people can't pay rent, landlords feel the pressure. If the landlords miss mortgage payments, the bank can repossess the property, which happens often in downturns. Many landlords are also employers, and there are consequences to playing games with job applicants/renters. Honestly, we all shouldn't bother working anymore-let robots take our jobs and use the "robot tax" on companies to fund Universal Basic Income for everyone. Employers constantly remind us we're replaceable and would outsource our jobs in a heartbeat. You know they would. Let them lose their office buildings and residential complexes to the banks, who are waiting on the sidelines currently. That's why they want people back in the office-to maintain the value of those properties. They don’t care about us, so why should we care if they get foreclosed on? Let robots take our jobs and banks take their properties. We already own nothing-let them join us!
