I plan on continuing to work several days a week after starting SS at 70 1/2 years. I will work as long as I can because I love what I do. I will still put max in 401K and ROTH IRA during this time while at the same time keeping an emergency fund of 2-3 years of financial requirements. I will remain frugal in all things.

Austin, buddy, when is the last time you’ve been across Latin America? Delivery services are ubiquitous across many countries, including Mexico. I can get tacos delivered to my Airbnb in most cities in Mexico. Apparently Latinos love our habits. Not to mention Walmart, Costco, McDonald’s, Starbucks just about everywhere in Latin America. In Lima, not only do people seem more harried than in New York, they love their Starbucks that helps them move even faster. However, I agree with all your points.

Agree with all of that, except the walking slow concept. I love walking fast. Americans are already too sedentary and car dependent. When I’m walking…I’m moving and moving fast! It’s exercise baby. It’s how I get my 8,000-10,000 steps in daily. It keeps me lean and fit. Me? Speedy Gonzales!

I'm turning 62 in a few months, and my biggest regret is thinking I would be young forever. I didn't budget, and ate out all the time with my friends and colleagues. Finally I'm living on a budget, while working side hustles, but I wish I had managed my money better when I was in the workforce.

Thanks for all the great content. I was unemployed last year for about four months. It was scary and I never want to feel like that ever again. I’m just now getting caught up on bills. I’ve learned how to go without things that are not really needs. I am doing no spend January and it has reset the way I spend money as well. I think I will be able to save money way better now! Or atleast spend it more wisely. Also, I love Trump and so grateful he’s in office xo❤

I use like 4 dollars in gas a month. No water/sewer/trash bill either. 200 a year in taxes/no insurance. So done with the grind.

I'm a high-income earner, and I'm looking to optimize my investment strategy. I'm currently maxing out my 401(k) contributions, but I'm wondering what other investment accounts I should consider to maximize my returns and minimize my tax burden.
@JonesmatsunagaКүн бұрын
Middle class and High-income earners have unique investment needs. In addition to your 401(k), you should explore options like a Health Savings Account (HSA), a Roth IRA, and potentially a SEP IRA if you're self-employed. These accounts offer various tax advantages that can significantly impact your overall wealth accumulation.
@Adam-dm8wgКүн бұрын
As a high-income earner myself, I've found that a diversified portfolio is crucial. I've invested in a mix of tax-advantaged accounts like a 401(k) and an HSA, along with a taxable brokerage account for more aggressive investment options. I also work with a CFA who helps me navigate the complexities of high-net-worth investing.
@CaptReedКүн бұрын
I'm currently investing primarily in my company's 401(k), but I'm not sure if I'm maximizing my investment potential. I'm interested in exploring other options, such as a Roth IRA or a taxable brokerage account. Do you have any recommendations for a financial advisor who specializes in high-net-worth individuals?

Retiring comfortably in the US these days is almost impossible. I'm planning to retire at 59 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life and good healthcare. Here in the US more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
@lawrencedykeКүн бұрын
The cost of living keeps going up, up and up!! Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. I'm worried about whether individuals who weathered the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.
@PASCALDABКүн бұрын
I completely agree; I am 60 years old, recently retired, and have approximately $1,350,000 in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. To be honest, having a portfolio-advisor for investing is genius! What I figured out years back what that with proper guidance, we can predict some of these situations and take advantage of them. Have you considered seeking the help of a financial advisor, the are vital towards retirement planning.
