Danni was such a heartbreakingly real character. I almost hated her because of how often she reminded me of myself.

Awesome video. I love Florence Pugh, and I can’t see anyone else playing her character. She’s a fantastic actress.

It is truly a testament to everyone involved how this film has stayed with people and how its themes are still debated. The deeply complicated and conflicted emotions brought by the ending alone are masterful. Have you considered doing a video on Beau is Afraid?

I feel like it was a crime she wasn't nominated for this; and I do really believe her Oscar nom for Little Women was a way to compensate the snub for Midsommar. She's such a range actor. I know she's on Dune now and her next gig is a Marvel thing; but I really do hope she gets to comeback to these kind of indie and well well writen films

Thank you so much for bringing this channel to fruition. What a great balance of humor and insightfulness about film....in my way....I feel like a spoiled child lol I never could accept this movie as what it was intended by "critics". I cannot draw myself away from the various messages it sends the viewer. I had not seen Ms Pugh in anything before MidSommar. I went into it blind. I was so moved because I saw myself. I had experiences of that "obligated" love. I had felt the pain of heartbreak before a relationship reached its final curtain call. The character of Dani encompasses the heartbreak and the hard road of self realization that leads to the healing process. She embraced HER life. Finally. Ms Pugh made it look so natural. Yes, she did deserve an Oscar. Thank you again. Keep up the fantastic work.

I found Midsommar after a really bad break up and you have no idea how attached I am to that movie, that was my emotional support script for months, I kinda wanted to live that second half of the film and yes, burn my ex out of existance, but then I just went to therapy and realized I just wanted to erradicate every bit of myself that was hurt and him was a huge part of the hurting, so I guess in a way Dani did that too, she got rid of the last bit of her past life and got to be reborn as a new (brainwashed) self with a new family and a new boyfriend who had planned it all along and it's super obvious after watching it a second and third time... Ari is a genius writting wicked stuff and I'm so glad he separated Hereditary and Midsommar into two because if he had merged those like he previously intended, it would have been a messy half assed thing, like Christian and Dani's relationship

While I can absolutely love revisiting movies like Midsommar through retrospections like this, I can never go back and watch them again because they affect me too deeply. Were it not for the cornier aspect of some of the characters this movie would have been too overwhelmingly haunting for me. Bear suit? In the context of the movie it was literally a gutted bear he was inserted into and burned alive in! Utterly horrific.

Thanks for this appreciation. I loved the movie. I saw the re-released extended version before I saw the original theatrical cut. I think the former is better, if only because there's more -- more Dani & the gang, more of the crazy Scandi's, more movie. Pugh really was phenomenal.
@TheBackFocus7 ай бұрын
I still haven't seen the director's cut because it seems like the overwhelming feeling from fans is that the theatrical is better. But I still might check it out eventually.

I've never experienced such a visceral reaction to a film in a cinema than I did with this. I'm talking walkouts, audible gasps and stifled laughter at some of the more bizarre scenes. One of those that stays with you for a while afterwards. I remember being so upset that Florence was snubbed for the performance of a lifetime! Thanks for the deepdive, greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦

One of the reasons I was anticipating Dune Part Two that much, is because three most beautiful and undeniably taleneted women of modern cinematography are in it: Rebecca Fergusson, FLorence Pugh and Anya-Taylor Joy (even that last one is episodically, but sgurely shows up in final third movie). Totally in love with all of them. And Flo's and Anya's voices pitch...goosebumbs

I probably won't stop watching movies anytime soon. And I guess it all depends of personal preference. I'm sure some of your personal favorite movies might not resonate with me as much. It really just depends on the person and the film and maybe a certain point in one's life.
