I think they're really trying in Florida. When I spent time at the beach, I'd see the conservationists come by every morning to check the nests. They also have laws about lights during nesting season. Of course the coasts are so crowded that I'm sure it's hard to keep them all safe. I also heard that they don't mark all the nests because people would steal the eggs.
