@@nole74 Miami beat Texas A&M worst than any SEC team defeated A&M ...coming from down double digits twice to win by 15 points....a game that probably oped the exit door for Jimbo A very nice win for the ACC...even if A&M finished 4-4 in league play. UNC defeated USC by more points than UGA defeated the Gamecocks. USC finished 3-5 in league play FSU and Clemson have been the benchmark teams of the ACC over the last 11 seasons no doubt........but an overall league head to head wins advantage over the SEC last season isn't anything to lightly dismiss. Take the best two teams out of the SEC or any other league and then see how that league holds up. In the College football Playoff Era the ACC is 44-53 vs the SEC...which covers the last 10 seasons ...bowls included. During that span the ACC has defeated every SEC team at least once. As an ACC fan (NC State ) I wish the record were better but still it's much better than the Finebaum addicted would have you to believe. Back in 2021 Pitt beat Tennessee at Neyland Stadium and BC defeated Missouri in Boston.....nice wins for the ACC but still both SEC teams were 500 in league play. Your question had several qualifiers to it but when I get a chance I'll look it up

@@nole74 Refer to my above post ....I said that A&M had a 4-4 record in the league.....I stand by the fact that it was still a nice win over the SEC by the ACC.....Bama only beat A&M by 6 I researched and sent a very long response to your request for ACC wins over the SEC teams with winning records in the SEC ......wins notched by ACC teams that aren't Clemson or FSU. For some reason my response failed to post. You had four different filters in your question....so It took a while to find the last game that met your requirements...here it is The Orange Bowl game between Georgia Tech and Mississippi State would be the last game to meet those requirements GT 49 MSU 34 I don't have time to go back over my complete search last night but there were also others......The ACC had plenty of quality wins over the SEC that didn't include FSU or Clemson but often the SEC team came in at 4-4 which wouldn't meet the criteria that you requested. ESPN choosing to not opt in, that does not equate to ESPN cutting ties completely with The ACC. It most likely would mean that they are renegotiating a new deal to cover for the increased risks that the conference is facing from now until 2036. If that contract has considerable changes made to it, then yes a new GoR would be required. That is not an anti-ACC position. That's just what it is. I think what the ACC becomes in the future could be quite surprising to folks and I say that in a good way. It's just that right now its going to look bad.
@trclark7689

I fully expect ESPN to realize that Clemson/FSU are gone and to re-negotiate their deal with the ACC accordingly. The ACC would be wise to negotiate a settlement to replace the money that ESPN is about to take away. If they play their cards right, they can continue to live as a conference with similar money and still remain relevant with an ESPN agreement through 2036.

My gut tells me that whatever happens Clemson, Florida St and anyone else who wants to leave the ACC will not until 2027 at the earliest.Why ? If ESPN opts out the $ payment to the ACC goes down, because the contract ends. If ESPN opts in, the ACC will demand schools staying at least an extra year:

@shallojalloh I only spotted one thing. When he said nobody wants to drag this out. It's in the best interest of the ACC to drag this out as long as possible. @@tremoore61 | gotcha. I took it as in general.. no major corporation wants to be in litigation. Cornell Law put did a study in 2019 which stated that their research found that 95% of corporate lawsuits end in settlement. The ACC knows they aren't winning in neither FL or SC. The best option is to come up with a number that's high enough to prevent the flood gates from opening and build a conference around UNC UVA MIAMI VT & NCst. My number 1 option would be to 1st redo the ACC media rights that keeps the number at or above the B12, while settling a $250M per team with FSU & Clemson. This prevents B12 from trying to pluck their teams. While getting an infusion of cash. Win Win for both parties

@@shallojalloh I understand you logic. However the cost-benefit for the ACC tells a different story. The ACC could potentially lose way more by them leaving. Until they known definitively what ESPN will do, it's in their best interest to make them stay as along as possible. So February 2025 is the deadline for ESPN to make their decision. That will be the deciding factor of what the ACC should do. Anything other than that wouldn't be in the ACC's best interest. Unless they agree on a dollar about that would keep the ACC revenue intact until 2036. And FSU & Clemson won't agree to that.

I don't see ESPN exiting the contract either based on how much they're earning from the ACC network. I can see them settling but I think the ACC has more leverage and patience than Attorney Doug is admitting. FSU and Clemson can get out of the ACC by 2026, they're not joining a P2 until the priority targets of the P2 determine what they want to do.

ESPN won’t continue the contract as it’s currently written. If they were, they’d have done so in 2021 before all of this started. ESPN will continue with the ACC, but it will be a new reduced contract and won’t include FSU and CU. That will require a new GOR, thus FSU and CU walk with nothing but the exit fee owed, likely at a reduced rate. The ACC has its head in the sand.
@505premoto
@505premoto 2 ай бұрын
@@heartbreak25 The ACC’s leverage is not what you think it is. ESPN is going to require certainty that FSU /CU will be in the conference for the full nine years before proposing any numbers and that is the one thing that the ACC can’t guarantee. Without that certainty, ESPN’s numbers are going to reflect the diminished value of the conference with the only two teams in the conference that are national brands.
@jansonroberts2616
@jansonroberts2616 2 ай бұрын
@@tdfsu1Actually, the ACC and ESPN are in a 60 day negotiation that began on August 2 due to the composition clause and the fact that the ACC just added three new members on August 2. That clause in the media contract states that there will be a monetary negotiation when there are two or more schools added to the conference or when two or more schools leave the conference. If they don’t reach an agreement monetarily within the 60 day window, the contract states that there will be a third party arbitrator brought in to make that monetary determination. The composition clause is tied to the existing contract and only affects the league with monetary payouts. It does not change any part of the existing contract but does allow for an increase or decrease of the monetary payouts without changing the deal. ESPN will not let the negotiations go to arbitration. They will reach an agreement with the ACC with a small increase in payouts and the agreement will continue on to 2036. Watch and see.
@heartbreak25
@heartbreak25 2 ай бұрын
@@505premoto FSU, Clemson, and whatever other school wants to exit will have to pay a hefty fee. Whatever decline in the ESPN deal will be offset by the hundreds of millions from exit fees. Meanwhile, FSU, Clemson or whoever else will be losing $50 million+ a year while stuck in the ACC without any ability to recoup. And if they were to join the P2 it would be as a reduced share member to start so the the immediate gain would not offset the monetary loss for at least 5 to 7 years. FSU has a math problem. The P2 are happy with their current math without FSU. FSU fans simply can't understand why UNC and ND are more valuable assets in realignment which is why FSU is in this situation in the first place. The ACC is not incentivized to settle when there are still 12 years left on the deal. And ESPN has no incentive to end a profitable deal that would negate the GOR.

If the ACC doesn’t give a damn about fspoo leaving, then why are they fighting so hard to prevent them from leaving? Could it be because fspoo had 23.5% of the viewership of the entire conference last year? And that is how ESPN makes their money. Without fspoo and Clemson, the ACC is a G5 conference. Nobody watches those other teams and ESPN knows it. Come February, ESPN will be offering the ACC a deal that reflects the diminished value of the conference. I am soooooo glad you don’t care.
