I can understand why people think mayweather is TBE, and I even think he belongs in the discussion. But people always try to argue that his resume is super amazing. I just can't agree with that. A lot of the "champions" floyd beat would NEVER be champions back when there were less belts. I mean he beat a lot of good fighters, but not many great fighters. People always try to bring down Rocky Marciano by saying he fought in a weak era, but floyd isn't an exception to that. so if you're going to say marciano isn't one of the greatest for that reason.. you have to be fair and do the same with Floyd. Quantity doesn't magically trump quality.

He has made some comments that great competitors should not make. He is the reason why Khan, Garcia, quillon and others are doing things in boxing that would have been unthinkable in the days of ali, hagler and hearns. I'm 100% sure he is only flighting Manny because the public Will not let him get away with it not because in his heart he really wants to. In my eyes he will go down not as tbe but as a fighter that never truly fulfilled his potential simply because he didn't fight his rival when he was supposed to but rather let a fighter he beat easily knock out his arch rival then allowed a b level fighter to test his rival to the limits and then made the fight happen......what an anti climax. He should have expressed his disappointment that Marquez and Bradley got there first.

This is how I well pretty much always remember Floyd. He fights JMM, who I personally think is the best name on his resume, but he does it at a weightclass JMM has never fought before and doesnt even attempt to make the weight on the contract, even though he wouldve already had that advantage and pretty much every other advantage a fighter can have over another and on top of that he doesnt ever look like he would ever KO JMM. I'll tell you right now that if you put a guy into the ring that is smaller, slower, older and at a weight class hes never fought at, ALL of these guys Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Leonard, Duran, Heans, Hagler are knocking that guy out. Thats Floyd for ya, hes really good, but the way he goes about fighting and building his resume is to take as little risk as possible, just like in his fights.

Saying he dodged Kostya Tszyu and fought Gatti instead is not true because Tszyu was fighting Hatton and had lost to Hatton on the same month. There is no point in taking on everyone who calls you out because that is not how boxing works these days, its about the money and if the fight will sell. Floyd ended up fighting Hatton who beat Kostya and beat him badly. The only real case that could be made is him fighting Shane Mosley too late and likewise with the Pacquiao fight taking too long.

It's too late for Mayweather to salvage a "Best Ever" rep. Maybe he could have, though I doubt it. He was so methodical in either not facing the best, or waiting until they were older, slower, and more "beaten" because they were fighting the best. He's Michael Nunn with no heart. Nunn was boring as heck, but he fought the toughest fighters available. I would have loved to have watched Ray Leonard vs Mayweather fight. Or Hagler. Or Pernell Whittaker in his prime. Thomas Hearns may have been the most attractive as he probably would have knocked him out in rd 1. He may not have had the best chin but he sure was not afraid to get hit, and I do not think Floyd could have knocked him out. Of course the no knockdown TKO against a man who could be out-pointed in most golden glove tournaments is silly. It is what it is. I feel for his kids. I know that he paid dozens of women millions to settle and not be the dad, but shoot, money or a dad? I'm not well-to-do by any means, but at my lowest financially when my wife had all our accounts transferred to her mother's name, had not given my rent check to the landlord for 2 months so when she left, I was essentially homeless. I was washing up at McDonald's every morning before work and sleeping in my car afterwards. If she would have offered me any amount of money to sign over parental rights to my son...well it would be pointless. That bugs me more than his record. The awful guy he is. He laughs and says "Yeah I gave her 2 million. She dances great. Nope that one ain't mine". All the paperwork and no paternity test crap he makes the girls sign, how is that even legal? Like I said, he is far from the best ever, and a relatively rotten man.

He fought a prime Genaro Hernandez, a prime Mosley, a prime Gatti, a prime Felix Trinidad, a prime Vargas, a prime Mayorga, a prime Mayweather and a prime Pacquiao. He even went up to middleweight to fight a prime Hopkins. Will Floyd do that to GGG? Hell no! Pacquiao is really a 135 pound fighter or 140 at this stage of is career. The fact that he campaign at 147 to find challenges is commendable. It's like Floyd campaigning at middleweight and taking on GGG.

neotech888 I agree with some of what you say, Pacquao is not a 135, or 140 in my opinion. And for me some of his fights were suspect, until he was callled out by Floyd for being on PED's. Suspect fights: Miguel Cotto Joshua Clottey Antonio Margarito Shane Mosley I think Pacquioa is a good figter, but Floyd is potentially better, but what's potential? Pacquiao certainly hasn't fought way better oppostion than Floyd The whole peoples champ thing Pacquiao has going on is cool, but for me, dude has no character (he's just happy that he's not broke). I do agree with Mayweather when he says Pacquioa was being groomed to rival him. I believe Bob Arum, is really annoyed with Floyd, and still can't believe he was smart enough to buy his way put of his contract. Floyds problem is that everyone sees how good he is potentially, so it frustrating to see him, fighting for money - but in the grand scheme of things who can blame him?

Ik this video is old but I disagree and wanna give some rebuttals. I think Floyd faced better competition on a regular than any of the fighters u listed. Sure they may have faced a fighter that was better than all or a fighter floyd fought but him facing better opponents regularly evens that out. U brought up the Ali Liston thing however that's literally because he was a heavyweight... so of course the power difference would be a thing of recognition. It's like me saying Ali never fought anyone as fast as Pacquiao. Like of course he didn't because he fought at heavyweight. However, Deigo corrales was the boogeyman at 135. Also, many people thought Floyd was over his head when he was fighting a younger stronger canelo. Another thing is the level of skill Floyd has faced. Floyd has faced more skilled fighters - his opponents were not flat footed like Alis, they used more angles, less predictable in the sense that they use different types of shots. Ali didn't go through the level of skill Mayweather did. If u shrunk someone like Foreman or Liston to Mayweathers weight class he literally wipes the floor with them because they are too flat footed and won't handle Floyd's IQ. Remeber Ali struggled against most top competition but Floyd easily beat all his top competition. Another major thing was the all comers point. Idk where the narrative came from that fighters like ray Leonard fought all comers. Maybe I think its enhanced by the lack of media or social media then but U should know Leonard didn't fight someone like Mike McCollum who was the top contender at that time.
@DealerD8vE2 жыл бұрын
Let me oblige on Hatman's behalf 😉 So it's unfair to compare the punching power of a heavyweight to that of a lighter fighter, just like you can't expect a heavyweight to match the speed of a Pacquiao. Funnily enough, Hatman just released a vid comparing Tyson Fury's posturing to Mayweather's and IIRC he does indeed mention that lighter fighters develop different skills than bigger guys... So perhaps you might be on to something. Alas, you go and mess things up by blasting Ali's opponents for being flat footed compared to lightweights. Contradict yourself much? Regarding dominance. Irrespective of power or skill sets, are you really trying to say that facing Canelo was as/more daunting a challenge as facing Liston or Foreman?! Brother please. But here's the kicker. Imagine if there was a heavyweight that did indeed possess the speed of lightweight, had amazing fight IQ plus charisma and courage in spades. Let's shrink him down like you suggest. With all that freakish ability now distilled into a smaller package, all the money printers going brrrr couldn't make Mayweather step into the ring to face him. Can you think of a suitable candidate for your shrink job? I know I can.
@maskedsage28712 жыл бұрын
@@DealerD8vE you can be slow and not flat footed. Flat footed means u dont really use angles. Fury is slower than some flat footed lightweights but he isnt flat footed. So it's not a contradiction. They dont have to have the same level of risk, but they can be comparable lol. I'm not gonna buy into ur bs of trying to guilt trip someone. That's NOT an argument. This was an irrelevant hypothetical.
@DealerD8vE2 жыл бұрын
@@maskedsage2871 Indeed you can but flat footedness is more common in bigger fighters due to energy conservation and power hitting. So I maintain that in general, boxing styles/skill sets vary between weight categories. You can laugh it off but I would guess that most boxing aficionados would laugh at the the thought that Canelo at the time of fighting Mayweather could be considered to be as dangerous a prospect as facing Liston, Foreman or even Frazier. Remember, greatness is assessed by the caliber of the opponents a fighter defeats. And where did I guilt trip? Hypothetical? Perhaps if I mention "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" the penny with drop.
@maskedsage28712 жыл бұрын
@@DealerD8vE Most boxing aficionados have their being. If we look at the facts it's that Floyd was 36 which is really old in boxing. Canelo was 23. Was younger stronger and bigger than Floyd. But Floyd didn't just barely beat him he easily beat him. This isnt a common thing in boxing.

Lucky Nangnang the reason the new boxers dont have the same competition is beacuse there is a big gap from the elite wich is the boxers that are state sponseret with peds, steroids to the rest off the boxers

I reckon Paul Williams would have given Mayweather all sorts of problems. It's a shame what happened to him.
@retiredclassroomjoker4479 жыл бұрын
123 Quintana didn't end his boxing career, a motorcycle accident did. He still beat Martinez and Lara after that fight. Oh and he was 6'2, huge reach even for a welterweight which would have given Mayweather all kinds of problems and when you add his unique skillset to all of that.

i get and agree on some of the points your making but if you want to be honest, how can we really gauge this..also most of the greats have lost to those that wouldn't be considered as the top 3 so its fair to say mayweather should of lost by now considering the level of competition he has faced, just food for thought.
@sulaymanabumalik69379 жыл бұрын
MENACE A-KIN interesting comment, to me it's imposible to compare two fighters that didn't fight around the same weight classes (floyd never faced a guy with foreman's power like ali never faced a guy with judah's speed...) or didn't fight in the same era, how are u gonna compare a guy who fight 3 to 4 times a year with a guy that almost fought twice a month? all these debates on who's p4p the best ever is irrelevant, just give props to the ones who deserve it, there's too many all time greats to just pick one and said "he's the goat" imo

50-0 and the big names it don't get better than that. Mayweather's record speaks for it self. Floyd proved to be one of the greats if somebody thinks differently than they are blind. It ain't about fanboy stuff it's what he's accomplished.You don't have to like him, but it is not going to change where he fits into boxing history's elites. Whether he's the best ever or not is just a matter of opinion, but he did prove to be one of the greats.Comparing him to ali is silly nonsense. Different era and weight class.

My best source for boxing is this KZbin channel, really appreciate the work you put in. It sickens me to hear all these more formal channels sucking up to Mayweather, lying about the great PPV fight "Brooks vs Gavin", former boxers breaking down fights as if they don't understand boxing, etc. I think Jim Lampley talks as much rubbish as Spencer Feron, we'd do well to be rid of most of the pundits. I don't really care about this fight either, but due to the way their fans' BS covers all boxing outlets, I'm affected. For that reason, plus my dislike for Mayweather as a person and my like for Pacman for his kindness to the less well-off, I hope Pacman beats him decisively, and that hopefully puts an end to the BS. Perhaps a loss would do Mayweather a favour?

Hatman you said nothing but truth although you're about to be attacked by flomonation once they find out you don't agree with floyd there god .solid points Liston was real competition real! With everyone of Floyd's fights theres been some kind of advantage or trickery I strongly believe that floydina is disrespectful for such comment .and not only that the problem with his fans is they wanna play the race game like if you're not black and you don't like Floyd its has nothing to do with his persona you dislike him cus he's black its getting pathetic I honestly want this to be over many fighters deserve the shine and spotlight that womenbeater is stealing from them

All fighters maneuvered around certain fighters so what are you really saying. Research all boxers and then come back with some kind of real conclusion. All fighters believe they are the best until they have a loss. Would you say Rocky Marciano was the best ever (Boxing Records only.) or Mahumid Ali? Let it go, it's all opinionated.

Your all just hating on Floyd bc of his cockiness and trashtalking. He’s probably the most accomplished boxer off all time, the whole World wanted to see him lose but he faced adversity and perservered. He can’t control the opposition off his Era, although he beat the best Fighters there were to offer. Beating the best of ones Era is all a boxer can do, Floyd (other than past greats) did exactly that but without losing once. Just like the tyson ali debate comparing past and current fighters isn’t easy, hearns Robinson and leonard would have been very interesting fights but athletes become better overtime and Floyd might be the hardest working and most disciplined Fighter ever, he dedicated his life to the Sport and he earned the tbe title. You can’t write off the competition he faced. If you watch his exchanges in slowmo its hard to write off his skills. Disregarding weight Forman would receive a major whooping from Floyd due to his technical flaws

Y’all trippin how many times y’all say somebody can beat this man and you threw the remote at the tv get off his sack. He made whoever you thought could beat him look like a amateur.
