It’s important to note half of all points and goals scored by Stamkos were on the PP this year. That’s a very scary stat line if your goal is for Stammer to be a play driving winger.

if you really look into his year he was not nearly as good as Kane. -13 at 5v5 while Kane was +2 at 5v5 for a worse team. 40 goals but half were power play from Kucherov. 3 more even strength goals than Kane in 30 more games. Kane 1.2 5v5 goals per 60, Stamkos 0.8

We just need to bring back Kane. Not sold on bringing back Perron. Letting go of Perron and signing Stamkos and then also keeping Kane would be the best possible scenario. Seider and Raymond still need to be paid. Should be fun to watch and play out. Also to note, Stamkos coming in and getting a letter on his jersey is absurd. Kane didn't get a letter, but in Chicago (obviously). #LGRW

I think Stamkos would be a an offensive punch for sure, and I would say his physicality and defense would be arguably better 200’ than Kane… I can’t see him taking less than 5 years and he’s going to be pricey. It’s time to bring up a center if they can turn it on in the spring, Kasper maybe? That gives you flexibility to be creative with lines if they signed Stamkos. I’m not sure.

Kane by every analytic and statistic was one of the Wings better defensive forwards last year. Part of why he was +2 at 5v5 while Stamkos was -13 at 5v5. Kane had the second lowest goals against per 60 of the top 6 behind only Perron.

@@paulwt9783 +/- is such a goofy stat. I looked it up and you’re right, and I honestly think Kane fits in better. I’m torn.

@@TrevWire +/- is a goofy stat, but 5v5 +/- isn't. it leaves out most of the goofiness and just straight up leaves you with how the team performed w the player out there 5v5 and no empty nets.

Although the Wings need a 2c I am not sure Stamkos is the right fit, I think he would be a better fit as a winger with Larkin and given that and how well Kane fit in, I think Kane fits the team better.

I already said it, Stevie Yzerman was the general manager that brought Stamkos then he’s going to go to Detroit, Patrick, Kane Hall and Andrew Copp. Are you gonna leave Detroit and go to Tampa and Steve Stamkos is going to sign probably a sexier deal with Detroit.

I don’t want stamkos. It’s going to be a long expensive contract going thru his late 30s. How much of his output is driven by kucherov. Detroit needs a solid 50 point guy that plays 200 feet well and wins face offs. I’ll even take a 20/20 type of player if he can play 2 way hockey. And I bet it will be much cheaper then stamkos.

Not in favor of Stamkos coming to Detroit. He spent his whole career in Tampa Bay; and he's their "Gordie Howe equivalent". Neither money nor another Cup is a reason to leave. Stay put.

Stammer is more a specialized winger not a center, unless he wants to give the wings a major discount maybe, but then you're getting older in place of going with prospects for a guy like ghost, I'd say no thanks, but media pundits are probably salivating at the possibility of someone who may add something they dont need, more goals in place of defense. Wings have done this in the past: wendell clark, pat verbeek, etc... and it never works out.

It'd be nice if Stamkos came to Detroit. We'll see, but the Wings gotta get rid of non-effective players like Veleno and others who didn't consistently make an impact throughout last season, especially towards the end.

You do understand that EVERY playe4 wants to get paid what he is worth, right? You know you lose those six players if you have no money to pay them, right? Get serious please!

Why would the wings want him? If he goes to the free agency he will want more than he’s worth.
