I was really torn on this reveal, but after re-reading the kuma backstory I think this is great. Kuma was never truly free and the celestial dragons and World Gov. destroyed his life, so his daughter assuming the form of the hero who's stories he would tell her about being the embodiment of freedom is besutiful writing imo.

It fits the story but what i have problem with it and a lot of people do as well, is that we spend years reading and watching luffy adventure seeing him overcome obstacles, grow and inspire everyone around him for 1k chapter of manga and almost 1.1k episodes of anime and him achieving gear 5 joyboy felt like a reward for it and a sign he can finally stand up to big boys in the story (it has it problems too, like luffy is all about the freedom so is nika, but joyboy has a role to play which luffy would be against doing if he know etc but that side discussion, also it is a god form so that also has problems). On the other hand Bonney was barely around the story we havent spend much time with her most of her story was through retrospection and you can argue that her story was mostly about kuma not her as well. So the joyboy forms and luffy achieved feels cheapened when a newish character can just turn into joygirl like that. I think i would have no issue with that if it turned out to be that it was luffy power that mostly did that and her state of mind etc like a effort of both characters that would still be insane but better i think personally.

​@@sgnox7781The issue imo is the way people like yourself interpret Bonney's power to begin with. She essentially perceives different realities and that becomes her ability temporarily. Here shes is copying Luffy's metric and idea of freedom to turn into this form. Her ability being a mimicry of sorts is just that and its limitations are decently written in stone. If anyone makes narrative sense to be joygirl it is absolutely Bonney as not only is she a child still but also one that was bred with the belief of Nika, which is tantamount to her father and her life. We can argue that her ability may be busted but considering it has a cd, and potentially permanent limitation post transformation (can't do it again, has she ever repeated a distorted future skill?) This really isn't an issue. None of Luffy's achievements are affected by Bonney copying or using him as a reference to perceive a new "future" reality. It's hard to say its not even earned imo. Narrative wise she makes the most sense. The WG tried to stop Nika from existing and ironically created a second one due to their actions.

​@@sgnox7781I think most people misunderstood her power. You said she can become anything without doing anything. Theoretically, yes. But she still needed to meet some conditions. This fruit has a really big weaknesses which also one of the condition she needs in order to transform. She need to fully believe she can become into that future otherwise her transformation will be incomplete. Even a bit of doubt can affect her power. That's why she can become Nika since she already has faith in him since the beginning. Now to the next condition. She also need a blueprint for that potential future. Before seeing Luffy's gear 5, all she does is just transform into gear 3. Saturn is aware of this and glad she hasn't seen Luffy's white form. So, in order to transform into that potential future, she also need to know what her form will looks like and what they capable of. She can't just imagine she has Kaido's fruit and somehow can transform into a dragon. No, she still need to see with her own eyes how Kaido looks like. Also, many people speculates that she can also copy haki. In my opinion, it's impossible to copy haki since haki is tied to the person will and spirit. It's like when Nami swapped body with Sanji. She doesn't use any haki when in his body (although you can argue that she doesn't know how to use it). So, Bonney can't just imagine where she has Roger's haki. Not only that this doesn't make sense since how does she has the same spirit as Roger, but also it's bad in narrative and power scaling side. I doubt Oda will write her like that.

@@BAlex2209 "weaker" is just up to the user. Still gonna die on this hill. Flame as a concept has no real up temperature, depending on source of fuel. Ad Heat is the opposite of Aokiji's Cold fruit and both deal with concepts as opposed to specific elements. Iron is frozen at room temperature but the oxygen in the air freezes at much lower. Both of them should be the top of the heat/Cold fruit paths. Akainu should top out at roughly 1200° F and be easily meltable with both Oven and Sabo's fruits. The strength of Akainu's magma isn't its temperature. It's it's density. Having that much mass transfers a shit ton of energy when it hits and that's before the heat transfer coefficients start to come into play though. I can make an argument for a lot of these that looking at them as stronger or weaker versions of the fruit are wrong and that's only ever been talked about as distraction.

I can not agree this is more powerful than Luffy's devil fruit. Beliefs require much more than creativity alone. That is the restriction. It also has a much greater drawback, because Beliefs can be influenced by outside forces, while creativity can't. Think about this. If Luffy faces a stronger opponent, he can always come up with a creative way to escape, no matter how absurd. He can also devise a creative way to be strong enough to beat them, no matter what he believes. Now let's compare to Bonnie. If she faces an opponent significantly stronger, she will never be able to escape from them, much less beat them. Her Belief on what is real is holding her back. Basically, while very powerful, the Nika fruit still surpasses that of Bonnie's. Bonnie's fruit is basically a Nika fruit with a limiter, that limiter being the user's understanding of the world. Meanwhile, Luffy's fruit doesn't care if things make sense to even the user. Just imagine it and it happens.

I know ill get crucified for this, but i really didn´t like Bonney becoming "joygirl" I´d rather would´ve had her powering up luffy or making someone older, idk now it feels like she is an absolute cheat code and all i could think about was "why does´nt she just imagine a future where she mauls her enemies everytime she is about to loose" since she apparently can do anything and the "options get smaller" thing doesn´t work either imo since she could just imagine being the strongest anyway i don´t know, oda probably has something planned to make it work out but for now I´m not really happy about it it just opens so many potential "plotholes" imo

The limitation is probably that she has no real experience with these abilities and also doesn't have the same strength of their original owners. For example, while she does have a Nika-like body right now she doesn't also have Luffy's raw strength or Haki. Luffy destroyed nearby buildings with Haki alone by entering Gear 5. Right now Bonnie just has enhanced physical abilities. She's just aping what she thinks it should be like.

Slightly outlandish theory/idea here. What if D stood for Dreamer/Dreams/Dream? That the Dreamers were the original people able to manifest their wills, hopes, and dreams into reality. These were later turned into Fruits (on the OG Tree) or their dreams were manifested into the Fruits themselves. Thematically it makes sense. Thus anyone with a D in their name now has the inherent and or inherited Will to excel in the world and a closer attachment to their ultimate dream in life. (Which increases the D. individual's connection to their Devil Fruit due to being naturally more compatible.) This also explains why Haki would be the antithesis of Devil Fruits. It's one's Will coming into direct opposition to another's Dream. Willpower being the tangible to Dream's abstract.

The drawback seems quite obvious to me with is a timelimit. Everytime she's used it on Egghead it's for a short period of time and if you factor the gear 5 time limit too then she will less than Luffy does in gear 5 and will probably be knocked out as she doesn't have Luffy's crazy endurance

You keep saying in this video no one saw it coming, but I feel like as soon as we heard about Distorted Future, most of the fandom came to this conclusion as a matter of when, rather than if. My predictions going forward are; - The iron giant will make the big save, allowing for an escape. Maybe it gets one or two words out about joyboy, but I expect Oda to give us it's internal monologue of regrets for not having the chance to talk longer with Luffy and Bonnie -When the iron giant comes out of the water, Vegapunks transmission will get one last big reveal in, but we will miss the D message due to the disruption. It'll likely be about the Elders - Imu will likely want to use the mother flame to use Uranus to destroy Elbaf. In the end it'll take both Nika's together to stop it, potentially leading to the theory that was floating around where Luffy will in some way consume the mother flame. For Bonnie, you may be able to see her powers as handing off a controller. You may be playing a top tier character, but if you don't know how to use it, there's only so much you can do on intuition alone. I think this for a few reasons, but primarily I just think it'd be fun to give her a training arc where she works with distorted futures to make learning easier. For example, she could produce a Swords Master future. That form would have muscle memory, but she may not gain the knowledge of that future. So using a form like that and then training with Zoro would give her actual understanding of those abilities. This would be especially fun because Luffy is known to be an awful teacher lmao. So yeah, these are my thoughts :3 Just wanted to put em out there.

Years ago, I came up with a One Piece OC who specialized in Devil Fruit extracts. He thought of himself as the Michelangelo to Vegapunk's Da Vinci. One of his achievements was injecting a Devil Fruit with the substance of other fruits and plants, including previous hosts of Devil Fruit powers. (1 Fruit + 10 Devils = radioactive vessel, for example) I guess Oda had this idea brewing all along.

part of me think the limit of this ability is exactly as saturn said. as your future becomes more and more narrow the more clear it becomes. because a future where a person can flood the work wouldn’t make as much sense because(in their mind) how would they do that? you’d have to find a way to belief that you could actually flood the world, so you’d need an actual understanding o how to do it. if they had this fruit and it could do that thered be a very important someone locked in a room using it behind the scenes. also

I heard someone mention that Egghead has a lot of similarities to the Sabaody arc. Maybe this means we’ll get another “Time Skip” where Bonney ages the Straw Hats up a year or so with Distorted Future to make them more powerful. The only problem is, that feels way too broken. But you can write around that, like say that to create a permanent change, she can only use it on anyone once and can only advance them a set number of years

In dieser Folge sieht man nachdem Clash, dass Vegapunk Ruffy als weißen Krieger bezeichnet und seine Hypothese über Teufelsfrüchte mit den restlichen Strohhutmitgliedern teilt. Vegapunks Aussage: Alle dinge werden in diese Welt gebracht, weil sie begehrt werden! Zum Beispiel gilt das auch für die Teufelsfrüchte. Die teufelsfrüchte sind das Potenzial der Wünsche nach menschlicher Evolution! Sie zeigen das Verlangen auf, etwas zu werden, was man gesehen hat. All die Kräfte repräsentieren die verschiedenen Zukünfte der Menschheit! Und diese Unnatürlichkeit existiert mit der Strafe von Mutter Natur, dem Meer, verabscheut zu werden! Die teufelsfruchtnutzer sind diejenigen, die in verschiedenen Realitäten leben, die sich jemand ausgedacht hat! Das ist meine Hypothese! "Vom Meer verabscheut zu werden" - wir finden Bonney in Egghead als aller Erstes in einem Strudel voll Meerwasser gefangen. Ich tue mir sehr schwer, von den Fakten der Verbindung von Vegapunks Hypothese und Bonneys Fähigkeiten, weitere Theorien rauszufischen. Aber Oda baut hier was krasses mit Bonney auf.
