Well, in one of the episodes of The Clone Wars Grievous said that clones are much better than droids and it would be good to command them instead, but yeah, it wasn't looking like a real, deep respect. It's so sad that Grievous remained so simple character, they could have given him a lot more depth and that would be really awesome. We can even see that they've tried to do so in some episodes, but in such small and brief way... What a loss of a good character

I wish we had a novel that covered Grievous’s back story. A warlord who was cold and brutal on the battlefield, but one who loved his people and would do anything to save them. Perfect set up for a good story. Plus, he’s one of my favorite characters, so anything with him in it makes me happy.

Glad you mentioned the Magnaguards since they potray well the camaraderie that Grievous is missing so much. He even called them his "Elite", which was what the special division of his best troops was called back during the Huk war. The Magnaguards are also so intelligent that they resemble human behavior very closely. In essence, Grievous is actually coping for his warrior past that meant everything to him. Now he only commands emotionless machines, but while being one himself.

Yeah, and before he did that, he respected that Clone by grabbing him with his foot and swinging him around like a rag doll and using him as a blunt weapon against other Clones before he slammed him into the hanger deck and doing what he did. He also probably knew that would piss Obi-Wan because he's fought Oobi-Wan so much and knows how much he cares for his troops, so he probably did that just to get under his skin.

I think you're right. General Greivous would never hesitate to kill who he deems needed, though his respect for them is another story. People saw Greivous for the monster he was made into rather than the man stuck within the mechanical prison who was forced in there, like vader. While vader had a good side that I don't believe Greivous had, Greivous still held respect for those who showed the spirit he so rarely saw in the greater evils who had made him.

Grievous was probably not a good person, but after his cyborg transformation where they messed with his brain he was turned into a complete monster. Before he was a warlord, brutal but not so machine cold. A good comparison would probably be someone like Saw Gerrera.

I really wish the clone wars show had a scene that illustrated this kind of respect for the clones. Imagine a scene where a clone makes a valiant stand against Grievous alone to allow his (perhaps wounded) brethren to escape. Obviously the clone would die at the end of the scene but it would be a great opportunity for some dialogue between two warriors. We never got a non-combat interaction between clones and Grievous and I think that is a missed opportunity.

I honestly feel the only ones who really respected the clones were Anakin, Obi-Wan seeing as there were multiple points where they would ask about the well being of their men, and got pretty upset when they lost men as well as Plo-Kun, as he told his troops they weren't expendable to him when they got trapped after the Seperatists started using their Ion Cannon, and even Yoda when he told some of his men that while they had the same face, they had their own personalities, so he acknowledged each clone was unique in their own way.

Grevious = A machine created for war / Clones = Soldiers genetically cloned and created for war. / We have seen that in both the stories of the Clones and that of Grevious, they both are creations that wish for a level of freedom but are forced into war. In The Clone Wars, Captain Rex finds a Clone who took his armor off and went rouge who had a wife and daughter. Captain Rex made the decision NOT to inform the Republic of this Clone so that the Clone can stay with his family. Clones are not mindless soldiers, and neither is Grevious.

Honor among soldiers and warriors is something understood for years. Either it be by giving them an honorable death or simply respecting them during combat and letting them live to fight again. I'm not really surprised another warrior would respect a group of other warriors . Such as grievous respecting the clones. They never ran away from him . Thinking back to the 212th fighting him in the corridor . And the 501st fighting him on the comm station. Both fights witch had purpose to stall him or to capture him . I really appreciate this video. I love it when people actually pay attention to the past that Grievous had, prior to his confrontations with the Republic. It's a shame that the 3D Clone Wars series kind of brushed over it. This made for a deeper character. Much better than the moustache twirling caricature that the 3D Clone Wars series depicted him as. Might be onto something. After all, when the droids are given their orders, they just follow them, and march head long into hostile contact, even if they're outgunned, and never take cover. Clones have a man go down, and they help the wounded if they can, they take cover, and as stated, they know when to fall back when a fight isn't going well, celebrate in their victories, a lotta things his own people probably did. And after all, we do have to consider, most battles where Grievous wasn't leading the droids, they did seem to lose more battles than they won.

Imagine an AU where Kreia either won out, the Jedi told the republic to BTFO, Dooku's imprinting didn't stick, or whatever else needed to happen, but Grievous still ends up a Cyborg but he's with the Republic, instead, whatever it takes, Just imagine if Greivous had but 1 Clone Army.

Maybe Grievous might have respected clone troopers, but would they respect him? I would divide clones into two groups. Those who served under the Jedi and those who served under regular officers. The first category would hate him. While they wouldn’t accept all Jedi values, they would accept a few and are also the ones most bound to the idea of what the Galactic Republic should be, a force of good and justice. Because of these values they accept to an extent, they will see Grievous as a monster. Sure, any who find out about his pre-cyborg state would be sympathetic and hurt to see the Republic and Jedi are far from perfect. Still, if they really believe in the values of the Jedi and the Republic, they’ll see Grievous as a guy who’s crossed so many lines. Now for the clones in the second category who served under regular officers, I would expect them to be more loyal to the Empire. They are of course more brutal and view stuff like mercy and laws on war crimes to be ways to limit the military from doing its job. They’ll hate Grievous for his crimes of course, but they’ll also respect his brutal side. Some may even wish the Republic could just do the same things instead of trying to act moral. Expect these clones to resist the Imperial order to be phased out and stay in the Empire anyway they can, and to be the type to support stuff like the Death Star, Moff Tarkin, and Vader.
