I have a numpad as a layer in my keyboard. If I would use one every day I would have a seperate numpad left of my keyboard because then I can type with my left the numbers and can still use my mouse with the right comfortably. I just type a lot and have in another layer put all the brackets, simicolons, apostrophes etc. On one for easily accessibility because I use them a lot while programming. Everyone has different needs and uses and I prefer to tailor the tools I use everyday for house on end to perfectly fit my needs. That took countless of hours, but the ones it saved me were well worth it.

It is worth the quality of the keys, the key-press feels, and the responses for any purposes. The only two issues for me are the price and its noisy clicky sound. I work in an office/lab that is shared with other people. My slow 66-wpm typing speed is still noisy for a mechanical keyboard. As for my personal gaming PC, the non-mechanical keyboards are much more affordable (less than 40% of the price of mech keyboards) and they are still convenient for gaming.

A mechanical keyboard is worth it because of the experience it provides. No other peripheral in a computer environment offers the feeling that MKBs provide, every time you press a key and you feel each and every part of that switch working just feels so awesome it's actually quite undescribable. The customization available is also a huge plus especially since you can change the look with just a simple swap.

I love my corsair K70 M.2 with Cherry MX Brown switches. Sure, it costs $140. But it's something I'll use 8 hours a day for years. Plus it gets alot of attention around the office, with it's metal casing, rgb, and sexy looks. For that $140 is nothing... I miss it when I leave the office every night, lol.

Chicklet keyboards are definitely the way to go. They feel better to type on (imo), they are much much less fatiguing, the are thinner, look nicer and more modern, and overall usually look more professional. Unless you're a gamer, then get mechanical lol

I cannot believe I have never seen your channel before today! I use an IBM 42H1292 date 9/21/95 since the day it was brand new. I have it rigged with multiple connectors to work on modern PC through the USB and it gives occasional hiccups because of that connection. I would LOVE to get a new mechanical keyboard with the same click/sound/feel as my favorite KB of all time and because I just stumbled across your video - I see that it is possible! THANK YOU for sharing!

Hello there TaeKeyboards, loved your video. I'm living in Turkey and prices are very high here. I'm using Steelseries Apex 7 with red switches. But i took a liking to custom 60% keyboards novadays so i want to buy one. No one sells keyboards like keychrone or drop alt kind of stuff here. And they get very expensive even i want them to be shipped to Turkey. Can you recommend me a solution, What to buy, and where to buy. Thanx in advance.

I just ordered a mechanical keyboard (HyperX Alloy FPS RGB). I thought it was pretty expensive to be honest but after doing some research, they said mechanical keyboard has a faster response time and also I love the clicking sounds. But this! This is a whole new world of keyboard! Didn't realize that this was a thing with people. Cool.

I'm in the market for a Mac/Windows compatible keyboard, and was looking at a KeyChron one, which led me here. However... I'm not convinced. I remember back in the 90s/early 00s when mechanical keyboards were still prevalent and they were fine, but then I discovered the soft-touch, silent membrane-based keyboards and have used them ever since. They are used in (I think) all laptops, including the high-end ones. Personally, I feel that the "clattering" sound of mechanical keyboards is a step back (although I do appreciate that some folks find it endearing). I don't care much for the customisation either - colour, macros, backlighting etc. As for longevity, can't argue that but I agree with what was said in the video, I've never had a keyboard fail on me either. The reasons I've had for replacing keyboards have been compatibility - software or hardware. For example - upgrading to one with a Windows key (mid-90s), PS/2 was phased out for USB (00s). And now, I need a dual-OS one. Anyway, I respect why others would choose a mechanical keyboard, but personally I don't think they're worth the price tag.

I love your reviews!! Just wondering do you have a video about mechanical keyboard buying guide for the newbies?? I’ve used membrane keyboard for my whole life and I kinda got interested in mechanical keyboards. But all I know is the typical brands like Logitech, Corsair, steelseries etc. do you have any recommendation from these typical brands??

I have only bought my first couple of keyboards for work and for home, because my previous keyboard has gone through hell and back. I appreciate the quality of the keyboards I bought (one is Leopold, one is Keychron) and I enjoy the feel. I don't feel compelled to dive deep into the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards that some do, but I appreciate that there's a market and interest in providing a lot of different products for people's desires and needs. It's pretty cool.

I've been using a Dell wireless keyboard for over 12 years, and the keyboard itself is at least 15 years old. It's a full size keyboard with number pad, and I'm wondering about possible replacements for the future. This video is really helpful, so thank you.

Fell down the mechanical keyboard by start of the year, I don’t game and have had laptops for more than 10 years so never had the need for external keyboards but my last laptop’s keyb died last year and had been using a real cheap one for months thinking “this thing sounds awful, it missinputs like crazy, the cable is dying and disconnects on its own” and decided to go for mech. Down the selection was tough on a budget, my dream build would’ve been a 96% compact because I do need the numpad for my work, and I need it to be wireless for convenience with my desktop setup, after looking around for switches found the white box kailhs to sound amazing but couldn’t trust my soldering skills from uni nor really wait for a PCB, body and set of keycaps from china nor was willing to pay for a hotswappable one so went with a Keychron K4 with blue switches but I now know _exactly_ what I want next and will get around it on the future. This channel has been my guide and mentor through this wild ride and I’m thankful.

I recently got a Gamakay (Wormier) K87. I turned off the RGB and I now have a well built, relatively good looking keyboard. I got the version with Gateron yellow switches, and I *enjoy* every word I type on it. The switch press, weighting, bouncy return make my fingers feel like they are running on a tiny bouncy castle. Remember running across a bouncy castle when you were young? Like that. Such a satisfying, rythymic bounce.

One of my friend gave away his custom mechanical keyboard (XD60V2(60%)) to me cause i really wanted to try it out, at first i really didn't feel that much of a difference but after a week of use when i tried membrane keyboard i really wanted to use the mechanical keyboard, using the membrane keyboard didn't felt like home anymore. I am still really grateful that i can use a mechanical keyboard. I also added the F keys to my second layer using qmk firmware and programmability is the second most important thing to me, that makes me feel like its my own keyboard and i can do whatever i want the imagination is the limit.
