Darlyn, Ghana has only one major City, that is Accra, which cannot even be compared to Port Harcourt. Saying Nigerians went to Ghana to shoot movies bcuz of Infrastructure, is totally off. You just said Ghana doesn't have alot of Cinemas. There is hardly a City in Nigeria without a cinema. What is called city in Ghana is a mere town in Nigeria

My dear “Darling Lyonga” I know this comment has nothing to do with this current content but just to correct some comments you made in one of your content … Concerning that Nigerians were shooting movies in Ghana because of infrastructure that’s totally incorrect that’s wrong statement. Nigerians never go to Ghana to shoot movie because of infrastructure. But they were shooting movies in Ghana as a result of “Genevieve” when she was accused of owning a house at Lekki Victoria Island Lagos said to have been bought for her by “Atiku” who’s the Nigeria VP then. And he the VP was having a problem with his Boss Obasanjo between the years 2004 to 2007. So there was rumor then that “Genevieve” will be arrested that makes her flew from Nigeria to Ghana getting there she wanted to continue with her movie career. So she invited some Nigerian movie actors and actress to join her there to produce movie and for them to be allowed they invited some Ghanaians counterpart and start doing collaboration with the Ghanaians counterpart. That’s how they started naming their movies “Nigeria / Ghana” movies and this collaboration grows until envy and jealous started in the Ghana circle. And Ghana movie industry players started introducing anti-Nigeria measure that Nigerians movie producers should be paying $10,000 dollar before they could be allowed to film and produce each movie in Ghana. When Nigeria movie industry players tried to let them know that the idea is not right they refused to understand thinking that those Nigerian actors and actress cannot do without them. The Nigeria movie industry players now said this people think we cannot do without them. This resulted those Nigerians actors and actress moving back to Nigeria. …So we want you to correct that statement / impression. ( FYI) … my dear Nigeria has 36 State plus “FCT” that amount to 37 and each state’s has enough infrastructures for movies to be shoot there. Are you talking of buildings or public places or what? There’s never a time when Ghana has infrastructures more than Nigeria in any form. Is it that because Nigeria Infrastructures are spread throughout the 37 Autonomous Republics. Nigeria infrastructures are Decentralized and not Centralized. This gives everyone in the country to have at least a taste of the Government not like everyone should be running to one location before one can have taste of the Government.

Toosweet Annan is half Nigerian and half Ghanaian. Yvonne Okoro is half Nigerian and half Ghanaian. Also many of those Ghallywood Actors and Actresses are Liberians and Lebanese. Many of those Ghallywood Actors and Actresses are not fully Ghanaians and some of them are not even Ghanaians at all. The Ghallywood movie industry is Accra based movie industry and those Ghallywood actors and actresses act in English because they can speak English very well. And the Kumawood movie industry is the Kumasi based movie industry and those people are very local and over 90% of them cannot speak English that's why it's very hardly to see Kumawood actor or actress in Nollywood movies because they can't speak English. But over 70% of Ghanaians prefer the Kumawood movies than the Ghallywood movies because it's local dialect "TWI" and also the Kumawood actors and actresses are very popular in Ghana than the Ghallywood Stars. The top Ghallywood actors and actresses are popular outside Ghana because of Nollywood.

The nail on Ghana movie coffins is Jealousy and envy. Collaborations from Nigeria and Ghana got to a stage , Ghanaian thought they could stand on their own and do not need Nigeria again. One of the ways they thought they could kick Nigeria out is to place an exorbitant levy on film shooting by Nigerians in Ghana. Hence Nigerian left them . And the results is the collapse of Ghana film industry. I can tell you authoritatively Ghana hasnt learn there lesson.

NOLLYWOOD is not divided into two in Nigeria. What we have is different branches of nollywood based on languages being spoken. In the North where Hausa is the common language has their branch. In the south. English is more spoken so you see actors from both side east and west acting together. Even there are still sub groups of actors strictly acting in Yoruba films and actor strickly acting in ibo films and actors who may be from the west or east strictly acting in English nollywood films.

Ridiculous to say Nigerians went to Ghana for infrastructure, very laughable cos Accra, the Ghana capital wouldn't even make the top 5 Nigeria cities 😂. Those Nigerian actors who went to Ghana were on a contract rather. Make more research

It wasn't a collaboration. Nigeria was engaging them, and they were being paid for their services. Then movies were being bought from the script writers and producers from marketers, which almost killed the industry until covid-19 people were now sitting at home, then people started consuming it again. Nigeria 🇳🇬 using Ghanaians very much then wasn't because of their talent, many of Nigeria 'A' list actors and actresses were banned from marketers then because of their charge rate. So they settled for the faces of Ghanaians but I hate to say it Nigerians wasn't enjoying it anymore someone like me until destiny etiko group now started growing

The Nigerian movie industry is generally divided into Nollywood, Kannywood (the Northern film industry), and the Asaba (Eastern) film industry. Many actors from outside Nollywood often do not attend the AMVCA, as their films are not typically featured at the awards. However, there is considerable collaboration across the different sectors, with actors from Kannywood or Asaba frequently appearing in Nollywood films. The industry would benefit from more collaboration, as well as improvements in scripting and production quality, particularly in the Asaba film sector. Though they were among the pioneers of Nollywood, the Asaba industry has struggled to evolve beyond a "marketers-driven" business model.
@potentiacognitionis

@@zc3443 Nollywood primarily refers to the majority of productions centred in Lagos, though not exclusively. Over time, it has evolved beyond the marketer-driven model of earlier years, adopting a more structured approach to filmmaking. The Asaba film industry, which emerged from Nollywood, was created to provide opportunities for talents in the Eastern region. Since many of the investors in the Asaba/Enugu axis were the original marketers who laid Nollywood's foundation, it was natural for the emergence of the industry to thrive in Asaba and Enugu. However, the challenge with the Asaba industry is that it hasn't kept pace with the growth and advancements of "New Nollywood." The stories and production quality remain unchanged, although the region has produced notable talents. On the other hand, Kannywood, based in Kano and Abuja axis, has experienced significant growth during this time. While there is room for improvement, the industry is making notable strides. The actors you mentioned primarily collaborate between New Nollywood and the Asaba industry. In my opinion, actors like Mr. Ibu (RIP) and Rita Edochie are more closely associated with the Asaba sector. This isn't a reflection of their talent or status, but rather where they predominantly work. The broader and more decentralized the industry becomes, the better it will be for everyone involved. Just as the U.S. has several thriving film hubs apart from Hollywood, Nigeria benefits from having multiple centres of film production. Ultimately, it's all part of one large, interconnected industry with different areas of strength.
