He was rarely in that spot though and therefore was rarely exposed because of San Fran’s great supporting cast.

I think the media talked Lynch and Shanahan out of drafting Mac Jones at 3 instead of Lance. They needed a game manager who doesn't get hurt all the time but all the talk about how you can't take a guy like that at 3 and Lance's "ceiling" convinced them to take the guy who had only played low tier college ball, as if the occasional sensational scrambling play or 70 yard throw is more important than reading defenses and making the basic throws.

Leadership is also part of the QBs job, too, but it's also other players' jobs, too. The good teams have a leader in the room at every position group. That said, great QBs take leadership of their teams. Fights happen at camp all the time, but to say leadership isn't part of the players job just isn't true. That's like saying leadership in the military is only a general's job. No, the guys in the trenches or on the field need leaders closer to their rank that unsweetened what they are going through by experience.

Hypothetically speaking, if DJ were to not work out, and if they were to had enough cap space ( they’re presently $5 mil. over) why would a rebuilding team trade valuable draft assets for a 30 year old average QB who has basically peaked, and would only take you but so far. That’s the type of QB you would commit $20+million a year to? Whereas, they stand a much better chance of drafting from a deep pool of QBs and continue to build up the roster for the next four years while carrying a cost effective rookie QB salary.

Ofc as a Giants fan I want DJ to succeed but I’m also realistic and know from watching ALL of his starts that he’s not even close to an NFL qb.
