Gege left it ambiguous on who’s truly stronger. It’s like y’all ignore this. Gojo said that Sukuna didn’t give his all. Sukuna implied he needed Mahoraga to breach infinity. But what’s a fact so far is that Gojo wins every domain clash if there is no Megumi. Unlimited Void Targets EVERYTHING inside of the domain. Malevolent Shrine targets everything inside the domain EXCEPT Sukuna. Their sure hits cancelled each other out, BUT the sure hit of Unlimited Void still targets Sukuna, so to counter that, he used Megumi’s soul. It’s literally stated in chapter 230. When Sukuna said that Gojo is just an ordinary guy born in an era without him, it doesn't mean that Gojo is weak. It means that Gojo potential wasn't fully manifested. Sukuna was born in an era where conflict is an every day thing. Especially in an era where curses and sorcerers were in it's prime. Gojo was born in the modern era where most curses are weak, even with the buff given to them when Gojo was born. The battle between Gojo and Sukuna is where Gojo truly shine and gain experiences as he fight but sadly, his opponent was just too experienced. I think one possible reason why Sukuna finds Yuji boring is because of his mindset. Maybe it's just me, but I feel Yuji's ideals is very similar to Emiya Shirou's. Not to the finer details, sure, but just like Shirou, Yuji's wish for people to not die meaningless death is one that pushes him down the path of ensuring the needs of others over his own. He's essentially "empty", his desires are not his own. Which is the exact opposite of Sukuna, and frankly the exact opposite of the philosophy of jujutsu (where you need to be a little selfish at least). Why Sukuna doesn't seem to feel the same boredom towards Megumi is up for the debate, considering Megumi also puts others way before him to the point of self-sacrifice being his most prevailing trait.

So the theory I currently have is, since Sekuna said "I was unwanted" and was born during a time of constant battle, that is probably why he is the way he is, specifically that statement implies that he never had friends, he had enemies, he never had loved one, he had people who wanted him dead. As he grew stronger he saw that people wished to test themselves against him and he saw that as a type of love, people wishing for his acknowledgement of their strength. Growing up unwanted surrounded by people who would kill him without a thought, made him not desire people or particularly care for them, and with them wanting to test themselves against him that gave meaning to him, being strong meant people would rest themselves against him, and would mean he wouldn't have to worry about being killed, and once he became the strongest he reveled in it, he says himself that he does what he wants when he wants to who he wants, and he can do that because he's strong.

I feel like Gojo could never reach the heights of Sukuna because he was too human. Sukuna is a calamity, who routinely refers to humans and curses in a derogatory fashion, that is because he believes he is above them, and in some regards he is correct. Gojo stagnates somewhat because he wants to and pursues being the strongest but recognizes that this alienates him from humanity. Thus his desire to raise others to his level. Sukuna embraces his search for strength and this separation from humanity, not because of some underlying desire to be the strongest, but his unquenchable desire to maintain his AGENCY. This is also why Sukuna outright loathes Yuji, as his status as perfect vessel amounted to a cage. A rejection of the only thing Sukuna actually cares about, his freedom to do what he wants, when he wants to. It is interesting that Sukuna doesn't even care that he will eventually die... just so long as he can chomp - both metaphorically and actually - on humans until he dies. Note also that I think the complexities of Gojo's character and the fact he is NOT like Sukuna actually makes him a much better character. A symbol for the students to follow that could lead to a better world, where as Sukuna's path leads only to devastation in his wake.

@paroxysm6437 I've read the story with no bias unlike yourself and knew that Gojo would lose eventually. However anyone that thinks that Sukuna could have won without Mahoraga is delusional as fuck. First and foremost, Sukuna did hold back in that fight in terms of his actual body and weapon. However, nothing else he had was gonna do anything to Gojo. The freaking reason as to why he needed Mahoraga was to bypass infinity since none of his moves could do it. Angel and Gojo state that Gojo went all out. Now, this is the most confusing part of this. Re-reading the entire fight, you can clearly see that Sukuna does hold back in terms of trying to figure out infinity. However, you can also see that Gojo himself is handicapped even more than Sukuna. Megumi being there was used for emotional state while also being the punching bag,Gojo, the entire fight is held back by the knowledge that if he spams infinity, Mahoraga will adapt quicker,. This right here is seen in the fight itself as Mahoraga only starts to adapt to blue, and Gojo realizes that even if he uses blue, Mahoraga still adapts but slower. Gojo only used Red 4 times in the actual fight. True we don't know how many times can he cast purple or red, but if it would have been all out Gojo would have used hollow purple more. And Sukuna himself says that he can barely withstand the power of hollow purple and had to resort to use megumis body. Overall to me this battle proved that Gojo was the strongest while Sukuna is the smartest. Only times Gojo used Red: 226 , 232, 233,235

Sukunas' just different, personal theory here but we know Sukuna respects peoples mindset, even if they can't match him in strength (unless you're yuji). Maybe the Heian era was such a ruthless and shitty time to be in to the point where Sukunas' conclusion from it was that everyone is just garbage and the only way they can prove themselves otherwise is through combat at this point. That could be why he doesn't have any expectations for anyone but he still gets joy out of fighting and pays homage to the strong, because the people he probably had any connections to outside of fighting may have just consistently disappointed or been terrible to him to a point where he now has no interest in conversing with the average person using words alone anymore

Then Sukuna reveals he had a ritual to bring himself back to heian form, out of NOWHERE, Gojo himself states that Sukuna was holding bavk which undermines his WHOLE INFLUENCE in the Jujutsu world, the whole army of Jujutsu sorceres throw themselves at him to kill Sukuna and he keeps going as if nothing was hitting him despite being hit with the Soul Plit katana, Soul Cleaves, another Purple, Jacob's Ladder... it just seems like Gege didn't have any consideration for it's characters and doing them justice, while Sukuna kept being higher and higher balled by the writing. Gojo was undermined, the whole Jujutsu school was undermined, everyone was undermined in favor of Sukuna, who got progressively stronger every chapter we read through. I have come to similar conclusions on sukuna’s perspectives and therefore his narrative purpose. I just find that his place and framing by gege as a ‘dark’ divine-a kind of Buddha that revels in all things without anguish for life’s struggles, but including especially evil acts-makes me suspicious. His consistency is broken in his perspective on yuji…unless yuji represents the opposite of these ideas. I wonder if yuji’s shoen character morality and cog like self perspective may represent a sukuna of the past. It is possible that sukuna’s self rationalization has allowed him to ignore his own inconsistent view of yuji, like so many evil characters do when it comes to the flaws in their motivations.

Seems like Sukuna is the only one who is truly enlightened in this world. That Gojo was never truly enlightened, displacing this by asking if he should kill everyone in that cult. I don’t think Gojo was actually enlightened. Only after Sukuna killed him did he become enlightened. Seems like sukuna brings enlightenment to others in his own way.
@aggressivepianonoises813 Жыл бұрын
I think it’s more like Gojo rejected enlightenment. In his honored one moment, he was actually strikingly close to Sukuna’s behavior. He didn’t feel any emotions thinking about others, and was exclusively aroused by his love for himself and the world he gets to inhabit. Killing Toji left the realm of revenge and became a mere action of self-affirmation. He’s not even feeling vengeful-he just kills Toji because he wants to. And despite that, we never see him act like that again in the series. Following Geto’s defection, he begins grounding and humbling himself around others, rather than doubling down on the self-oriented mindset he found. Whether this was right or wrong, time will only tell-but it certainly didn’t help his future potential to defeat Sukuna in Shinjuku, aside from a cool Prison Realm domain trick.
@raec5426 Жыл бұрын
Though Sukuna's supposed enlightenment is chaos and calamity because of his lack of humanity. There's a cost to it and Gojo didn’t want to sacrifice his humanity.
@Soten_104 ай бұрын
I think the reason why Sukuna finds Yuji boring is because he's Sukuna's polar opposite. Yuji thinks of himself as a cog and he's shackled down by responsibility and his own set of morals, whereas Sukuna views himself as a free entity that is able to do anything he wants regardless of morality or society. It's like seeing a version of yourself that you would never want to become, which is ironic in Sukuna's case because well... they do look pretty similar.

It's funny how sukuna says he is not like gojo in that he doesn't feel lonely but i think its sukuna masking his lonely through being strong . The story states that in the Heian era sorcerers became stronger thru fighting sukuna . Where as in current time sukuna has not immediately killed anyone without scrapping with them first as a sense of "fun" . He is in search of someone which is why he left yuji alone he doesn't praise yuji because yuji doesn't emulate his power until something is lost . He praises an awaken maki but choses to not kill both when given the opportunity ,instead he let them live to scold yuji through laughter . He refers to yuji as a brat ,usually brats are spoiled and unappreciative like yuji was in shibuya until he considered himself a COG . Soldiers at war for example... sometimes it's not the sheer amount of cruelty that wins the day but the ruthless love for friends and family that justifies any means of victory in your mind. Sukuna does represent the ideal standard, selfishness, confidence, natural skill etc. However, I hope Yuji is finally given his moment to shine and surpass him and Gojo by proving that his suffering and sheer hatred for curses (even if flawed and somewhat disturbing) allows Yuji to simply let go and prove that he can reach any height of power if it means killing curses.

I'd say that while Sukuna won the fight, Gojo is still the most talented sorcerer between the two. Sukuna had many advantages: more experience (a LOT), all the info on Gojo's techniques (red, blue, purple) and domain, Mahoraga (specially the specific knowledge about how his adaptation worked, which ultimately gave him the win). Meanwhile, Gojo entered the fight knowing almost nothing about his rival. He didn't know how many techniques he had, he didn't know how his domain worked (particularly the open barrier thing), and most of all he didn't how the 10 shadows technique truly worked (and Mahoraga's adaptation ofc). Gojo relied on his instinct and talent in order to keep up, and he even managed to corner Sukuna. As another comment said, Gojo wasn't able to realise his full potential, due to being born at an age of much weaker sorcery compared to the one Sukuna was born into. Just imagine how much more stronger and complex his domain would've been had he gotten to experience the golden age of sorcery (surely he would have been capable of an open barrier domain), how much stronger and faster his techniques would be, and all the knowledge and understanding of cursed energy, specially with the 6-eyes. Still, as of now, we can only say Sukuna is the strongest, because he won. But if Gojo comes back (copium lmao), he might be able to beat him (if he doesn't lose his CT or anything ofc).

I agree! I went through a similar mental exercise not to long ago. We see Sukuana represented as the pinnacle of ideology that is born from cursed energy, a king. So what comes next? Kenjaku saw Sukuana, and was also not satisfied. We really only have two paths from here. Either he was flat out wrong, and fails. Which would result in the story most likely ending. Or he succeeds and brings about, "something more." The implications that come from that desire are astounding. Sukuana may be the strongest, but he is not the most knowledgeable. Kenjaku showed Sukuana how to turn into a cursed object. I think Kenjuku didn't know what the result would be, and is the reason why Sukuana's form was as powerful as it was. However, Kenjaku ran his experiment, and decided it was not enough. It follows that Kenjaku believes that there is more than just this philosophy brought about by cursed energy. Simply living to meet one's desires. The Curses say it around him all through the first few arcs, and they are laid to waste by his plans.

Not only is that cliché af, it doesn’t even apply to Sukuna. It would’ve been impossible to survive in the Hein era without the determination and drive to get stronger. Yuji’s weak because his mindset is weak. Mahito literally said this while beating the SHIT out of yuji

@@xenoemblem7 Yuji’s mindset literally changed. He accepted Mahito’s words but still twisted it to fit his still flawed mindset. Yuji’s fight with Sukuna will show us whether or not Yuji finally changed his philosophy

I dont understand how anyone can legitimately believe that Gege "Hates Gojo"

While Gojo is *self proclaimed* the Honoured one, Narrator on the other hand himself proclaimed that Sukuna is the *honoured one*

Are you Satoru Gojo because you're the strongest? Or are you the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo? I feel like Gojo was reaching the heights of an enlightened one both in and after that Toji fight as he kept getting stronger and stronger alone but then, after what happened with Geto, that changed his mindset as he is still human. Looking back on it we probably all wanted en enlightened one moment to happen but with an adult Gojo that was burdened with the worlds protection, what happened in that toji fight never would've happened again. It's like Gege made it so that for one that stood far away from the other humans because of his power, Gojo pretty much lost throughout the series because of his humanity, deep.
