I appreciate Ritchie's ability to bounce back as a big name director, even after experiencing disappointments and criticisms. Also, it feels like the man has made use of that sweet sweet Disney money from Aladdin to finance whatever kind of movie he wants. I think Man from UNCLE, The Gentlemen, and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre carry on a lot of the tone and style that made Lock, Stock and Snatch so enjoyable to me.

Snatch is still one of my favorite film, such an amazing dialogue and pacing! Gentlemen was a really great return to what Ritchie’s doing best, so I enjoyed that movie a lot too.👏🏻 Frankly, I’d love if he embraced being that “one trick pony”, because his gangster movies are great, and almost no one is doing anything similar (and similarly good) anymore, which is a bit of a shame. But, honestly, he should do whatever he wants, as long as once in a while he delivers another Gentlemen or something similar for old time fans😅

Gentlemen is nifty, but it's still far from Snatch or Two Barrels, since it has moments where it wants to be taken more seriously, similar to Rock'n'rolla, his stories definitely work better as that one story a guy at a pub told me, rather than something more "serious", or perhaps I just found Wrath of Man way too meandering and boring...

Snatch, Lock Stock and Rock N Rolla are all legendary flicks in my opinion, so sharp, quick and witty. But Sherlock Holmes and King Arthur really weren't that bad either. And Aladdin was rather inoffensive and a serviceable remake. Man from Uncle and Revolver both suffered from convoluted plotlines, which were borderline nonsensica and extremely difficult to follow. But he really excels in the hard nosed crime genre, as evidenced by his return to form with The Gentlemen.

Guy Ritchie is just unique, every movie has his essence and i love it, i think nobody else would have made a better version of sherlock holmes and even rdj has been teasing us in social media about doing a third one, i don't even dislike the slow-mo or the camera style because that's what makes it good, like in sherlock holmes 2 when the germans are preparing to fire the big cannon and you can see everything, the ammo, the cogs, the struggle to prepare the shot angle and the time comparison on how fast is the cannonball, everyone is just static while the shot destroys trees until the impact, it's just too good *chef kiss*

I'd rather have a director try different genres rather than being stuck in the same one. Say what you want but his live action Aladdin remake is well regarded among audiences. His King Arthur is found to be underrated and highly entertaining. His latest film 'The Covenant' is one of his highest acclaimed films. The point being no director should stay in the same field. With just those 3 results he should be able to tackle whatever genre he wants.

I don't think Guy Ritchie should stick to gangster movies, but I do think the moment he made it big and started working with big budgets he lost something that made his first two movies great.

The Covenant and Wrath of Man were pretty solid. Man from UNCLE needs a sequel, too.

Re King Arthur. Does anyone else think Charlie Hunnam just cannot carry a movie? He was good in Sons of Anarchy, and it seems to have led people to believe he had the chops to be a leading man in movies. I have found him the worst part of pretty much every movie he's been in

The covenant was pretty great, my only criticism is that it was so outside of his wheelhouse that I think he played it safe for some of it when I think he was on the right track and should have doubled down. But overall enjoyable and well made, the performances were great too

Guy Ritchie is the director I thought of when I heard they were doing a DC Suicide Squad movie. I think he would’ve killed it

There is no reason for Ritchie to just stick to one genre. He must and he should experiment with multiple genres to evolve as a filmmaker. What he needs to do is to pick up good stories and scripts from multiple genres and then improvise creatively.

There is a short story called “Bine In The Throat” written by Anthony Bourdain that Guy Richie would be perfect to produce/direct

I don't think he has to just direct gangster movies. The man from U.N.C.L.E is a good film and i think Guy Ritchies flourishes really helps. I think he might have a problem with stakes, liked the gentleman a bit but felt like they lacked a good villian. It even worse in Operation Fortune. A big part of what made Snatch great is Brick Top, he's genuinely unnerving. Also something that sets Lock Stock and snatch apart from the gentleman is also the the heroes aren't cool capable action guys. They're lowlifes who are witty and think they are clever but usually end up on top because of luck.

I’ll forgive a few duds if it still means we get good movies in a variety of genres. I liked The Man from U.N.C.L.E and I’ve seen the Sherlock Holmes movies a bunch of times.

Critics are a joke just like politics you can't trust a f***ing thing they tell you. Both Sherlock Holmes movies are the best I've seen in my life. I'm probably gonna be dead before they make a third one

Nothing wrong with trying other things, but I really like his gangster/action films. Some guys are most at home and excel in a particular thing… but are we going to talk about how distributors pulled operation fortune because politics??? The guy makes crime films with violence and cursing etc. and no one bats an eyelash, but “oh no, we have to protect our dear Ukrainian war narrative!” Politics is ruining arts and entertainment.
