So many times, I and my team go into salons and talk to hairdressers that are still using a straight handle scissor. They'll often say that they have problem with their neck and shoulder, aches and pains.
When you show them what they're doing to their hand -- like this, this is straight scissor -- which automatically tucks the thumb underneath your fingers. Well, anybody knows that if you push your thumb, which is normally in front of your fingers, behind, what that does is it helps to lift your elbow in the air. Lifting your elbow automatically can cause problems with the neck and shoulder muscles having to hold the scissor higher in the first place.
Whereas if you use an offset scissor, like this, where the thumb is further forward, I can now bring my elbow lower when I'm working and reduce the stress and aches and pains on my neck and shoulder muscles.
