Thanks for NOT using the palm as a reference for proper length sizing. The only time the palm comes into play is when their sectioning. the hair, comfortably holding their shear and effectively controling the comb . As a product educator I use the stylist own training of "not cutting past the center of second knuckle" No one opens their shears to 100% Typically it's 80-90%. I open the shear to that point. Using the tip of their middle finger, measuring from that intersecting point down to the center of their second knuckle . Most often a 5.5 inch shear. Sizing a shear is a personal preference.. I'd advise a bit longer than a bit shorter . Thank you for your knowledge in producing this video. Mis information is rampant in our industry

Please demonstrate the exact way to measure the length of the scissors. Is it the overall length starting at the blade tip and ending where in the offset handled scissors I wonder? No way will I EVER allow toothed scissors to touch my hair! Every time they use them for my layered cut, it ends in disaster. I love my beautiful, long, thick, bouncy hair. These scissors thin your ends out, make your layers appear like uneven, wispy, split ends, and make the under layers of your hair flat and thinned out (which usually ends up looking like a little tail hanging out.) These toothed scissors are not for everyone or every cut. If you have thick, voluminous hair, and want it to that way, stick to regular shears and someone who has good technique.
