Why has Raqqa been ignored? | Inside Story

It has been five years since the armed group ISIL was defeated in Raqqa in northern Syria.
The city served as its base.
Yet many of the conditions that made Raqqa vulnerable to an ISIL takeover in 2013, still exist today.
Governance is weak and attacks are common across the city.
People are living in ruins, with limited electricity, water, and access to education and medical services.
Who is responsible?
And how much of a threat is a resurgence of ISIL, in its former capital?

It's in US controlled area. It's ignored because US stole for over 150 billion dollars of Syrian oil and didn't use a single cent to rebuild what they destroyed there.

Turkey did the most infrastructure damage to Syria in the name of fighting YPG they destroyed Syria.

America and NATO did not intervene in Syria like they did to Iraq and Libya. Stop lumping the three countries conflicts together. Russia killed more people and caused more devastation in Syria than NATO did in Libya and Iraq combined.

@@Hayanomie Because you're against the government doesn't change the realities. How did ISIS become so strong? If you don't blame them, you can't blame Russia. All those actors were involved in the conflict before Russia got involved. Plus, I am not even pro Russian. Even Turkey played a huge role in the destruction of your country. The entire region was almost destroyed because of the west and the Syrian people thinking they had friends. You better stop downplaying their roles because they never cared and still don't care about your "revolution" or Syrian lives. Trust me, If they really cared, Assad wouldn't still be there.

@@tyme5514 i said stop grouping them together because unlike Libya Afghanistan and Iraq the biggest source of destruction and mass murder in Syria was the regime and the Russian and Iranian militias. Many people group Syria in with other USA interventions which plays down the role of Russia and Assad and Iran. Syria is not Afghanistan, it is not Libya, it is not Iraq. It is worse and that is because of Assad Iran and Russia.

It’s funny that even after all these years of American brutality on innocent black and brown people in the Middle East the concept of jihad still eludes you. And how convenient was it that when the US entered the fight the ISIL started to lose?
