The issue with the Director's argument is that in the name of security if taken further no one would be able to even look at his building for fear that, despite them being a good guy, they could tell someone about a potential vulnerability - someone _nefarious_ ! Look, anyone can fly a drone. Anyone could come by at night and take a look at the building from the outside with their eyes or otherwise. Google has already gave a general layout of your building and potential entrance/exit points. If your security relies on people not seeing things, you have no security. Use alarms, use cameras, use secured doors. Presume anyone can see anything on the outside - because they literally can if they want to.

There's a very clear change in surface and a marked boundary with USRN: 42301468, which doesn't extend into that access road. I suspect their ownership and maintenance responsibility actually extends further than Simon Says, although of course the signage should be clearer, and placed at the boundary.

Where I live, the sidewalks (pavement) is all privately owned by the homeowners, and it’s maintained by the government as an easement (i.e. I can’t trespass you off the sidewalk, even though it’s within my property boundaries). The public can access everything up to that sign and gate. There’s no other indication that the pavement there is off limits to the public.

He should have hung around for the discussion. Strikes me that those with security responsibilities should simply know these two fundamental things: 1. It is entirely legal to record what you can see from a public place. 2. Drones are in airspace and not subject to the same laws surrounding trespass. Know this, accept you don't own the world and respect the rights of others to go about their lawful activities. Shame these guys didn't fancy sticking around to watch your footage as it was recorded.
