Makes sense: if you can win via exploiting advantages in the rules of the game, there's not much reason to switch to another (potentially losing) strategy. The party is there to win. However, this strategy, seeking minority rule, I view it as really unforgivable. It has polarized _me_ . I view it as so transgressive, I don't think I'll ever get over it. And it's no secret to the GOP intelligentsia and national leadership that this is what they're doing, even if their average voters don't see it that way. The latest meeting of the federalist society in TX in 2023 was themed around how democracy, contrary to popular opinion, is actually unconstitutional. The keynote speakers talked about how our present vision of democracy goes against the wishes of the founding fathers, and we should honor their wisdom by finding legal grounds to confront "mob rule". I guess we need to undo mob rule, so we can institute minority rule. It's surreal to watch self described patriots acting this way. It's impossible for me to reconcile with this GOP with the GOP of the cold War and GWB admin, who used to say that protecting democracy was worth virtually any cost. Now, minority rule is order of the day... so long as it's "the right" minority ruling.
