Whenever I tried to talk someone into playing Legends of Runeterra, the SECOND that I mentioned League of Legends they immediately say No Thx. The one person I did manage to get to play, didn't know it was LoL related (infact they didn't even know who jinx was). Like it or not, League of Legends is absolutely massive and at the same time has the WORST reputation (other than Blizzard itself). People assume everything about the game is bad because the main game is extremely toxic. It was a lot and I mean a LOT of work to convice people to watch arcane, let alone play a game based on the LoL IP. To me, that will always be a big factor that LoR has to against. Because people who play card games, already have a card game they love and have spent countless hours on. People who are kinda interested in card games *might* try LoR, or they might run away after seeing it's from Riot. And then there's people like me who like LoL and gave LoR a chance and loved it. We, I assume, are a big part of the playerbase, but not enough to rival Hearthstone which came years earlier.

Yeah, there is a lot of truth in your words I can relate to myself. I also convinced my friends to watch Arcane and they loved it! but they also have the image of League is Toxic... and while the game is good, the community is known to be very toxic by "outsiders"

In defense of player count. LOR's mobile app is very good and a lot of non card-game players play it. No other card game on the mobile comes even close to it.

i came to runeterra because hearthstone is just all hyper aggro, otk's, win more cards, and WAY too much mana cheat. i mean rogue has a 4 cost rare or epic that makes your next spell cost 0. i got tired of the devs shoving power creep into the game instead of balancing the overall experience. so i downloaded runeterra and it was the best decision ever. a game that actually rewards you for playing, doesnt have predatory monetization, and has a core gameplay system that makes cheese much harder than in HS. glad i came to visit, now im going to move in. oh also, as great as HS's art is, runeterras artwork is absolutely fckn insane. can we talk about the balestriders art?! OMG one last thing: thank god runeterra doesnt use rng as a crutch. and theres very little board clears. its just more skill based overall

Yeah I think the big difference between heartstone and Runeterra is the complexity and we can see Runeterra focusses on the professional card gamer scene ... It's nice but it makes it much more complex for casual players

@@Zoofus a fair point. hearthstone is easy to pick up and runeterra is quite the opposite. even after years and years of playing HS and consistently climbing to semi high ranks, runeterra was a TRIP to play for the first day or 2 hahaha

I drifted over to Runeterra after Elder Scrolls Legends discontinued support, and I burnt out of MtG's outright greed and disrespect for their customers. Only thing that echoes what TESL brought to the table. 0 interest in Hearthstone just because if I want to deal with predatory pricing I'd just play MtG.

Actually, i think there is so much LOR players in indonesia. but, they never even use twitch as a platform for streaming. Even i dont have the app😂 And yeah, i'm playing the game on mobile. The fact is, There is so much mobile players in indonesia than pc players. _Sorry for broken english🙃

The twitch comparison is not really correct. The main twitch draw in Hearthstone is Battlegrounds…. to compare correctly you would have to compare LoR + TFT

Yeah but still... Sometimes the twitch numbers for LOR are so ridiculously low that it's almost shameful... Don't get me wrong I love TFT and LOR. I think lor could be more popular for the amount quality of a game it actually is!

Hello u made a verry good video sir earned my subscribe, I gotta say I grew up with league universe more therefore I love Lor I have played hearthstone but I had no money to play competitive cuz I was kinda young for a job, I managed to get diamond 3 on Lor last season, this one feels so bad I think that developers lost themselves into this many mechanics the game was supposed to be big but the game is not making enough money to sustain and it is so sad their team got hafled because they had no salary for them and they moved them in other projects Lor got me into loving card games , but if rotation is not gonna save it they got to do something I personally think that it's a lot of work but I think we all agree the game has potential it just need the help..

But on the flipside, they may keep LOR going instead of pushing on the trigger on it. LOR is the only game they have which is setting up their Runeterra universe lore for the upcoming MMO and other massive projects, including arcane.

I think You should've mentioned that in LoR a meta deck costs only around 30 - 50 bucks when u would buy every card in it. Also comparing HS twitch viewers with LoR viewers is a bit missleading when over halve of the HS viewers are from Battleground and not the actual Cardgame, but yeah there is sadly now way LoR has more Players then HS .

I am new to the channel and i gotta say i like your voice. I play both card games and i have over 2 milion shards while in hs i have only like 1/3 of the set that came out even tho i max out rewards track there. And with twitch i feel like hs is easier to understand from a casual viewer and also since in hearthstone you play your cards and then can interact with the audience. And another thing to that since it is likely that most people playing runeterra have the cards that the want to use they can just make that deck on their own and play it. But Hearthstone at least from my perspective you don't have a cool legendary and it will take a long time to get it but you can just go and watch someone else use it to know how good it is and things like that.

That's so weird to me because I don't like my voice 🤣 and yeah I can agree, heartstone is more stream friendly with a lot more options to interact with audience between rounds.. and the legendary cards feel also really legend , in Lor it's normal to test different builds so there is less effort needed to play the game or stream it, thanks for sharing! Hindsight is 20/20. I spent $1,000 on Hearthstone, lived in Diablo 2 and Starcraft for a decade, Blizzard is dead. All the people that made is great are gone and rightly so. I love LoR and it's honest with the player base. You work hard you get results. Not so with Hearthstone or anything Blizzard related today, Blizzard is a shell of its former self. If you want to spend your weekly salary play Hearthstone, if you want to get twice your effort for a CCG game without having to pay, play LoR. Pre-2005 Blizzard>Riot>Modern Blizzard In Name Only. I grew up with Blizzard, they're dead and everyone that made them the CASH cow they are now left before it was all about the $$$!

while runeterra crafting system can really be appreciated in the long term, for people who want to start and jump into the game, it can be pain in the ass. In hs at first you're given 1 meta deck out of your choice, you can also disenchant cards as you like giving the option to switch to any decks in a matter of first week. While runeterra is longterm progression, meaning you will probably won't have fancy stuff on your first week, or even first month. You make one deck, then turns out you don't like it ? well another 2 weeks wasted in a sense and you will need to save up again.

There is definitely more people playing HS than LoR, but I dont understand why. LoR is better in almost every way. The only reason I see why some people like HS more, is the utter randomness of some games. Crazy rng-nonsense, while possible in LoR is much less common. So a casual player who just wants to "press the button" and see what happens (ala Yogg Saron) will enjoy HS more. But the monetization alone makes LoR the clear winner in my book. That it has the more engaging mechanics and competitiveness is just a very nice bonus.

I got literally all cards by just playing the game. I don't think it's expensive in the sense of playing the decks you want. It's more expensive if you want cosmetics. But then again, it's just cosmetics 🙂

Meta decks in HS are broken too. But the main difference is most players can get meta deck in LOR bc of generous ftp so the whole ranked ladder feels miserable. While in HS meta decks are costly and not everyone can afford them. In a way being so ftp is kinda hurting the game for LOR.

I played legends of runterra I was returning to rhe game few times. Its really nice game and i want to like it, but i cant for some reason... Dont know if its because i feel like there is no much cool decks to build. Because game is based on keywords and i really like that, but when i look at the game and see Lurk, Forge, Fated, Poppy.. all decks feel the same, there is different way they work but it really feel the same. Then maybe its the problem with atnosphere of the game.. dont know something about it just dont click with me, and probably many other people.. i love the art style, i love the boards (even tho i am fully F2P and looking just in opponent boards) but music is what ever.. in the game and out the game im feeling like i would reather mute music then play with it. Its so chill and boring, i dont feel competitive when i hear it xD And game really looks boring when you enter, there is some random background, there is play, there is shop and maybe a battle pass sometimes, it really feels like there is nothing to look at, i feels better when i enter yugioh what i hate playing in late years (because game feels like chain effects for 10 minutes, then wait opponent to chain for 20 minutes, if you are lucky you have some conther or hand trap and thats it) because there is music that feels competitive, there are ranked rewards (rewards are crap but at las something..) there is stuff When i deck build in that game everything looks nice, i see like 100 cards. When i build in runterra i see like 10 cards in my deck and 8 - 12 cards i can put in the deck. I NEED TO KNOW all cards in the game, all cards i have, all cards i dont have, all cards i want in my deck, all cards i cant put into that deck and make all in my head, it feels so junky i never build a singe deck there i copy all from mogwai. And now dont have who to copy anymore so i play marvel snap xD There are more things i feel bad about this game but no one reading this long comment anyway.. so yeah xD

With new expansion and exodia Ryze is coming, I believe it will be fresh for a couple of months before getting stable and boring. Another thing is that you played Mogwai's deck, but have you checked papayalord aka grapplr and Snnuy? Both make very good content and grapply videos are really funny coz he is that level of joker xD

I love LoR & I Appreciate their F2P friendly approach, but I feel like Hearthstone is "Cleaner"... the color choices of the game are clean, there's not too much animation on the board, I'm a F2P hearthstone player since 2014 (It's a miserable experience but I'm managing to live with that), but I wish to move to Runterra when the game suits my taste well enough.
