If this seems like a re-upload, that's because it is. Last version got flagged by the copyright system, and we had to go back and edit to make it more palpable for the backend robots. Hopefully it stays up this time.

DuskQuill has indeed identified the core of a hero. As Himmel says at 20:03, "But I won't ignore those in need right in front of me.". Himmel wants a fun adventure, and he is why it takes them 10 years to accomplish the actual goal of the adventure. He wants to have fun, and to help all those who actually need help. The current character who is just like Himmel is Stark. Everywhere the Frieren party goes, the kids flock to him because Stark like Himmel knows how to play and one thing all kids recognize is an adult who likes to play. And Stark helps all those he finds in the various villages who need help no matter how small. Stark is the hero of the new adventure, as Himmel was in the past adventure.

Would have mentioned Stark, but at the time I didn’t see a way to relate him to Himmel. For the most part I think Stark is more inspired by his brother than Himmel. Though, Stark does look like a red headed Himmel now that I think about it

@@duskquillteam4094 While we don't know that much about Stotlz, he does not appear to be a very playful person, and is severe about his duties especially toward Stark. I cannot imagine Stotlz doing anything just for fun, the way that Himmel does. Stark is much more like Himmel than he is like his brother although Stark's thinking about himself is more a reflection of his father and brother.

@@folcwinep.pywackett8517 Stoltz is still the kindest person Stark ever knew before the destruction of his village and was probably the biggest supporter Stark had with just being allowed to be a kid. Stark may have heard tales of Himmel and he definitely seemed to be a fan with his infatuation about the sword story...but I imagine Himmel's tales didn't really affect him until Eizen adopted him and told him stories of being in the Hero's Party. While probably wanting to be like Himmel could have been a guide, I think still Stoltz is the central foundation for Stark to be who he is. And I think a good piece of evidence of this was when he was looking at the hero's sword and we see the foreshadowing flashback to Stoltz, a bit of insight to Stark psychology implicating that he believes Stoltz is the most likely candidate of being the mythical hero of prophecy if even Himmel couldn't achieve such a status

@@duskquillteam4094 Yes, Stark is alive because of his brother. Stoltz recognizes that this is a final fight to the death in his village, and tells little Stark to leave. Stark and his wooden sword could not have done anything to help his brother and village. At least one member of the family surviving was more important. But Stark does not remember correctly and initially says his entire family neglected him on his birthday, but after thinking about it, does admit that Stoltz was probably different. We are so used to the mean older brother trope in stories, it is refreshing to see a wonderful and kind one in Frieren.

Himmel always ask for payment, but accepts anything offered. He does that so people don't feel indebted to him.

I really enjoyed your video, Himmel to me is a true hero just due to him caring about helping people wherever he’s able, I look forward to more videos

If I could sum up Himmel in 2 words, it would be "He cared", very accurate. And I'm already thinking of new ideas seeing how well received this has been so far. So, I'll probably be doing more, look forward to it

I think the important thing to note, is the Himmel we see him, are the memories of Himmel that the tellers felt they wanted to tell. Himmel works works as a great hero, because he is a great story told by those who came in contact with him. And a hero is not a Person, but a story told about someone doing a good dead, not a great dead, just a deed that another person remembers. And what tells you that Himmel was a great story, a great hero, is that a Taiwanese man stopped a knife attack because "it's what Himmel would have done".

I'll have to watch this after I finish the Anime, I watch it with a friend so it's been slow. I just saw DuskQuill's name on it and clicked but I don't want too many spoilers yet XD

Bit embarrassing but flattering to see people were interested in this simply by name recognition. I don't know what I did to receive that sort of achievement, but glad all the same to hear. Hope you do get around to watching it

I think Himmel defies the monomyth because he doesn't come back a changed man really, he's the same person he's always been, that's what makes him a real hero tbh. He was that way from the beginning, and that's why him not being able to take that sword out wasn't a big deal to him, it wasn't what made him, him.
@duskquillteam409411 күн бұрын
The only thing I can say that probably "changed" about him was maybe some of his optimism and naivety. Mostly just in relation to demons. I don't think it's too far of a stretch to imagine he probably had hope that the end of the existential threat with the Demon King could potentially end with peace talks in some compacity. But after the demon girl and village chief incident, I think just even a tiny bit of his heart got hardened as a result, coming to terms that there can be no peace with demons just by the differences in nature. But outside of that, he has always been the same person

For me, the fact that people in real world is doing good things because "that's what Himmel the heroe would do" it's enough to prove he is a real heroe in the highest order, a perfect model, because it's failures doesn't matter, even the fact that he is not real, doesn't matter.

Who? Sorry, I'm not familiar with Frieren, but the greatest of all time is from Rave Master and is **SPOILERS** Sieg Hart.
