Good video, I noticed this with other chocolate/sweet stuff also. I put it down to "time to mature". Normally the stuff you get when its NOT Christmas is fresher with a longer "use by" or "best before" date. The stuff you get around Christmas seems to have a far shorter life, often sometimes even going out of date within a month of Christmas being over or even before! Its normally sold cheaper also around Christmas and more per box. I figure its just old stock they stick in a new more "Christmassy" box" and try get rid of at a discount quick. Ether way it seems to taste better... I'm sticking with it being more mature. I also stock up on the eggs, my planning is the same as yours. Always overstock and have a supply.

I think a big part is how fresh the product is, the holiday candy is produced for a limited time and after the holiday it gets reduced in price to clear inventory in stores. Compared to the standard cups, which may have been in the store for a long period of time.

Ever try the Fresh Reeses when they were available? Factory fresh is amazing. they changed the way the make reeses in the late 90s the faster way leaves that hole a the bottom. The old way was better but it took longer. So the trees are better because it takes a bit longer to dry them into that perfect shape
