As a kid in the 90s, Jonathan Taylor Thomas was my first crush 🥰 when he left Home improvement I was devastated & seeing him in less movies & Tv shows,I was angry & sour that he could up & leave like that 😢 now mid 30s I completely support him & applaud his decision to leave Hollywood. His intelligence wasn't just scripted after all ♥️

Agreed. He was SO high in demand and sought after in the 90s. He was plastered all over the bedroom walls of teenage girls all over the world (mine included). He worked harder as a preteen and teen than most adults will ever work in their entire lives. I can't even begin to imagine balancing such a demanding full-time job where you're constantly in the spotlight while simultaneously having to keep up with your schoolwork, memorize and practice your lines, and then go shoot an entire episode of Home Improvement with a migraine headache. MAJOR props to him. That is some serious dedication and worth ethic. I'm glad that he did what he needed to do to take care of himself.

When I was young, I didn't understand why he'd leave the industry with so many fans. Now, I completely get it. I'm so happy to hear that he didn't stick with acting just because that's where he started. There's no point in wasting your life doing something to make others happy. I became a vegetarian because of him (still am). While I'd love to know what he was up to now, I respect his decision to stay out of the public eye.

As much as I love Tim, he was extremely selfish and ignorant for getting so mad at Jonathan for leaving. Tim took Jonathan's departure very personally, when it had NOTHING to do with him or any of the other cast members. This was about what was best for Jonathan at the time. He was SO burnt out from acting and it had gotten to the point where it was affecting his mental and physical health. He literally spent almost his entire youth in the spotlight and was never able to be a "normal" kid. He was constantly in such high demand in the 90s for movies, TV shows, etc. I can't imagine how he managed to keep up with all of his schoolwork while simultaneously having to memorize and rehearse his lines for the show and then go film an entire episode with a migraine from all the stress he was under. He was WAY too young for that kind of stress, but he pushed through and got it done for as long as he could. He obviously did well enough in school seeing how he was able to get into Harvard. Huge props to him and shame on anyone who gave him crap for leaving the show.

He definitely made the right choice. He was clearly well past the point of burnout. He was so high in demand and sought after throughout the 90s and he spent nearly his entire childhood working harder than most adults will ever work in their entire lives. So many child actors from the 80s and 90s who earned fame at a very young age went down very dark paths as they got older. Sadly, many of them are no longer with us as a result. I'm glad that Jonathan was wise enough to be able to recognize that he needed to get out of the spotlight and just live a normal life for once. I was a little disappointed that he didn't at least make an appearance for the series finale of Home Improvement, but I totally understand why he didn't. He just wanted to be done and to move on with his life. I highly doubt we'll ever see him on screen again.

I often wondered why he left ‘Home Improvement’ but he had to do what was best for him. I do think it’s a pity he couldn’t be there for the final episode because like the other cast members, he was a major part of it’s success. Yea, as a kid, if not managed well, it can seriously mess with your head but at the same time (and largely dependant on whom you’re surrounded by) financially, chances are you’re probably set for life. Thus giving you freedom, security, piece of mind and as a bonus, let’s be honest, you can get you pretty much get any girl you want so ultimately can’t really have much sympathy for the guy. The fact that he never had to work in McDonalds, a contact centre and/or any other equally crappy gig like a lot of other people have to... I won’t be crying over it. I’ve only had 6 or 8 actual migraines in my life , and not for a long while now thankfully, and it completely shut me down. I vomited a lot and couldn’t open my eyes for any reason at all. It made me realize that all those times I would be at work or somewhere and hear someone say they had a migraine that maybe they just had a bad headache . They are definitely two different things . If he is rich, then good for him for leaving the Hollywood life. That proves he wasn’t in it for the money. The small “indie” roles he sought don’t pay nearly as much as his sitcom days. The fact that he went back to school and did what he wanted not what he thought he had to do makes Jonathan Taylor Thomas a good person in my book.

He probably left because he didn't like being perved on. Poor child actors. Do some research 🥺

He wasn't a very good actor. He was a "sitcom actor" who could deliver lines and mug for the camera. That doesn't translate well to movies and more serious roles. Sorry if you are a fan, but I have yet to see him do a serious role that proves me wrong. I think he is smart. He knew where he fit in Hollywood, used it to pay for school, and has found other ways to live his life. He is probably happier for it.

He has never done any serious roles. He quit acting when he was around 17 years old and all of the movies that he ever did were targeted at kids......
