He worked harder as a preteen and teen than most adults will ever work in their entire lives. I can't even begin to imagine balancing such a demanding full-time job where you're constantly in the spotlight while simultaneously having to keep up with your schoolwork, memorize and practice your lines, and then go shoot an entire episode of Home Improvement with a migraine headache. As much as I love Tim, he was extremely selfish and ignorant for getting so mad at Jonathan for leaving. Tim took Jonathan's departure very personally, when it had NOTHING to do with him or any of the other cast members. This was about what was best for Jonathan at the time. He was SO burnt out from acting and it had gotten to the point where it was affecting his mental and physical health. He literally spent almost his entire youth in the spotlight and was never able to be a "normal" kid. He was constantly in such high demand in the 90s for movies, TV shows, etc. I can't imagine how he managed to keep up with all of his schoolwork while simultaneously having to memorize and rehearse his lines for the show and then go film an entire episode with a migraine from all the stress he was under. He was WAY too young for that kind of stress, but he pushed through and got it done for as long as he could. He obviously did well enough in school seeing how he was able to get into Harvard. Huge props to him and shame on anyone who gave him crap for leaving the show.

He definitely made the right choice. He was clearly well past the point of burnout. He was so high in demand and sought after throughout the 90s and he spent nearly his entire childhood working harder than most adults will ever work in their entire lives. So many child actors from the 80s and 90s who earned fame at a very young age went down very dark paths as they got older. Sadly, many of them are no longer with us as a result. I'm glad that Jonathan was wise enough to be able to recognize that he needed to get out of the spotlight and just live a normal life for once. I was a little disappointed that he didn't at least make an appearance for the series finale of Home Improvement, but I totally understand why he didn't. He just wanted to be done and to move on with his life. I highly doubt we'll ever see him on screen again.
