I remember in the Darth Plagueis novel Plagueis says that you can find humans in any occupation from bounty hunter to politician. Also he said that the reason why humans dominate the galaxy was because it seemed that the force either chose or greatly favors humanity to spread across the galaxy thus why they were the first to do so.

What always fascinates me about Star wars is who you consider human and alien. For instance, you have the mirakulans who are sometimes considered a separate species but are blind humans who have developed the way to see through the force 🤔 The way I see it if a species can breed with humans through the normal way than they're probably just a human race that's different than the races we have on Earth

Hera Syndulla (a Twi'lek) and Kanan Jarus (a "standard" Human) were able to produce a son together. The long time scales in Star Wars and the many evolutionary pressures of living on different worlds seem to produce a great many Near Humans. Some have diverged enough for speciation while others remain interfertile with at least some other Human/Near Human species. The "aliens" are therefore variable based on the definition used. Some are actually Near Humans, despite appearances. Then you have species that are entirely separate from Humans and may even have Near "X" sub-species of their own (e.g. Duros and Neimoidians).

Its believed one of the reasons Homo Sapiens out competed all the other hominid species such as Neanderthals was due to our willingness to create networks and trade with other communities openly. Neanderthals weren't technically inferior to our ancestors, we just happen to be more socially connected with other tribes of people, and as a result more capable of forming alliances and confederations to achieve greater goals. The same could apply to the Star Wars galaxy.

I feel like the fact that humans have relatively short lifespans is actually a net positive to our species. Yes, other sentient species in the galaxy such as Hutts, Wookies and Yoda's race can live for centuries, if not millennia, whereas human beings only have 100 years on average, and about 70 to 80 years before our bodies and faculties begin to waste away (assuming we are lucky enough to live for that long in the first place). It is because our lives are numbered in decades instead of centuries that forces many of us to make use of the short window of time we are given to achieve our dreams and fulfill our goals. This combined with our species innate drive and tenacity has pushed us to achieve more decades than more long lived species such as Wookies can achieve in a lifetime. Another thing to consider is that while getting to live a long life is undoubtedly a blessing, as a long life allows us to share our wisdom and experiences with the next generations. But if everybody was able to live for centuries, it has the potential to stunt the progress of the civilization we live in. Because older generations tend to be stuck in a mindset and culture that is different compared to their descendants. Already on Earth, older people have different values because they came from a different period in time and have trouble adapting to newer trends and technologies. Basically, because we are only able to live for several decades, that means while humans may die sooner than other species, we are at least able to cycle out the older generations more quickly. This means we will always have innovate young minds able to take the place of their seniors sooner than later, and this allows us as a species to build on the successes and achievements of previous generations more quickly as well.

@ronaldsmith6829

I disagree with your second paragraph. "Because older generations tend to be stuck in a mindset and culture that is different compared to their descendants." This is the attitude of many people nowadays. However it didn't used to be. This is also why things are so unstable with, for, and around the current crop of young people. They are going through a lot more stress and labour than they need to be. The elder generation provides a more stable influence and considerable wisdom to the following generations. Many societies in this world value that highly. We used to as well. You can't learn what works and doesn't without people with a long enough memory available to consult. As we see around us now, history can be corrupted and massaged to fit agendas and political ambitions. If there are long enough memories around to refute this kind of thing, if those long memories are respected, in lieu of dismissed, the younger generations can be protected from predatory Corporations, Politicians, and would-be despots. However our institutions of learning have been working hard at divorcing the youth of this country from their families and elders. This is a way of making young people more malleable and easily directed by ambitious Politicians and social engineers. Obama spoke of this during the latter end of his second term of office. "the next generation will be more open to our policies." Yes, and they are demonstrating this. The poison from the fruit of their heavy labours in this direction is showing considerable results at present.

Interestingly enough it is a myth that humans have slower reaction speeds compared to most species. At least terrestrial ones anyway. We simply have lower BASE reaction speed. A well trained human's reflexes can actually exceed those of a striking snake by up to a factor of 4. But yeah, what makes humans dominant is that we are generalists. We aren't the fastest runners, but we can run. We aren't the best or fastsest swimmers, but we can swim. We aren't the best or fastest climbers but we can climb. We do have one advantage no other species, again terrestrial species anyway, has. We have nearly unlimited endurance. A fit human can quite literally run any other living creature on this planet to death. Humans can quite literally run until we die, not of exhaustion...but of sleep deprivation. So yeah. A himan can run for 11 days straight. That is just insane!

I've always been a fan of the subtle human supremacy in a lot of stuff with aliens. The first couple that come to mind are Mass Effect and Invincible. In Mass Effect, despite being the newest species to the galactic community, we've developed technology and concepts that the other species all just completely missed or couldn't figure out, like quantum entanglement communication or fighter carriers in space combat. In Invincible, humans came up with the weird noise technology that can hurt or even kill Viltrumites, and in the show, they apparently invented "quantum bombs" that were able to kill Viltrumites. Both of these ideas proved incredibly effective against Viltrumites, and yet no other species that they'd ever conquered seemed to even really consider those ideas or they'd have developed them already.

Short answer: Rakatans. Watsonian answer: The Rakatans loved to use humans as slaves and imported them into multiple other worlds. Like the Goauld did. So when the Rakatans lost control of their empire, humans were well placed to take over. Doylist answer: The stories are written for humans, so having humans as main characters means the audience can better relate to them. And it saved money in make up, costuming, CGI, and puppetry to have more humans around than aliens.

I think this is often why humans are often portrayed as quite xenophillic at times. Humans integrate fairly well with alien life forms. But at the same time we can also be extremely xenophobic and exploitative with aliens in some stories. Especially in Star Wars where discrimination and even outright slavery seems to be commonplace throughout the galaxy. But then again in some places humans are the ones who are slaves, and in the past most aliens, humans included, were all slaves to the Rakatans.
@stygianoatman

@@therealspeedwagon1451 Yeah, I think humans (both in real life and in Star Wars) have greater social skills as both a strength and weakness. For example, humans that perpetuate slavery in Star Wars, do so because they have the ability to form complex societies and to "domesticate" Humans are also weak to manipulation both in real life and Star Wars, because our willingness to be lead means that we can be trapped by the same societies we form. Real cults work by basically convincing people they benefit from this thing, when it benefits from you. Sort of a stockholm syndrome situation. We're kind of like zombies, in a way. Very strong together, but also inevitably we tend to crush those beneath us in order to reach greater heights.

Look what we humans did here on earth, spread everywhere as soon as the technology was barely sufficient.

I knew bits of why humans were everywhere in the Star Wars galaxy, but not the entire backstory. It's awesome. Mentioning how the Rakkatan's used humanity as slaves reminded me of the myth of the Anunnaki. The Anunnaki were much taller at about 8 - 10 feet or something. They blended their DNA with primitive humans. We were created to be a slave race to serve them. Humans are everything you mention in the video; very adaptable, inventive, stupid yet intelligent, willing to do new things, ect.They used humans to mine gold that they needed for their own planet of Nibiru. Nibiru only passes close enough to Earth every few thousand years. They left humanity, the Younger Dryas happened (the global flood - I'm still convinced the Eye of the Sarah is the location of Atlantis wiped out by it), and boom. You've got us - descendents of the survivors created to be slaves to giants who considered themselves gods. Conspiracy theorists call Planet X in the Kuiper Belt Nibiru. When it comes back around, the Anunnaki will come back. I love sci-fi, which is why find this story entertaining.

Video Idea: Similar to your dream-team videos make a series on redesigning the new republic. However we would have parameters on what the New Republic could reasonably do after the sequels. Would the citizens accept us using first order weapons and ships? Could we keep them as mothballed fleets? Maybe you invent new ships that fit our new doctrine. Do we use battle droids in our military or is that slavery? Is our navy carrier based? EP 1 Government Overview. Joining requirements, constitution, etc. Maybe include a NATO esque military alliance for neutral words (for instance allowing the new republic to have helped nevarro with the pirates). EP 2 Military and Policing. Explaining how planetary defense forces fit within a larger military, separate System Guard (coast guard) and police agencies (new republic marshals) from the military. Navy/ Marines and independent Starfighter Corps are the focus to quickly respond to member worlds acting up or being invaded. The Army is smaller to keep from being scary but can be bolstered by planetary defense forces and militia groups during war (National Guard?). Maybe also allow groups like the resistance to exist kind of like a space second amendment in addition to a standing army, this way it's another checks and balances against an empire. EP 3 Navy (carriers and interdictors?) EP 4 Starfighter Corps (cool new starfighters?) EP 5 System Guard and Policing (Lancer pursuit ships and E-wings?) EP 6 Army & Marine Vehicles (Combined Arms...clone ATTEs, first order ATSTs, and imperial marauder troop transports? ATRT/ Swamp speeders for scouting? ATRTs for old school cavalry charges?) EP 7 Army & Marine Soldiers and Weapons (Cool good guy armor? Arc trooper helmets that can open when not in combat so you don't look like an angry faceless stormtrooper, like Ezra's stolen stormtrooper cadet helmet?)

IDK if human supremacy is such a good idea, especially this early on. Assuming that one or multiple alien species know of our existence and is keeping an eye on us, they see our social problems where we are willing to fight and kill each other over frivolous concepts like nationality, ethnicity, religion, ideology, etc. In our current state, an advanced alien species or potential galactic community would want to keep us restricted to our solar system at *least* due to our species immaturity. We'd likely be a threat simply because we're so volatile by ourselves. A part of maturity, on an individual, and certainly species level, is getting over oneself.

Humans in star wars evolved alongside the ORIGIONAL Mandalorian species known as ''the Taung''. that alone is a pretty big indicator to the successful nature of humans as a species.

Remember E.T.? His species is found in the "Star Wars" galaxy, giving it a distance from our own Milky Way of at least three million light years according to what definitive statements I've tracked down. (As is to be expected, there are conflicting figures.) That is roughly half again as far as the Andromeda galaxy, so it is a nice long drive but still extremely close in a cosmic sense. Now recall that E.T. was frightened to see Humans, but not a little Human dressed as whatever Yoda is. The simplest explanation is that while Humans were common in the era depicted in the movies, they are quite rare or even extinct in modern times. Humanity's extinction was likely related to the latent evil carried by Rey Palpatine.

The near human races can't possibly be evolutionary given the tight (geologic) time frame this all happens in. I thought in Legends it mentioned somewhere that some higher power like the Celestials had manipulated a common ancestor to the humans and all these other races. Or maybe I'm combining Star Wars and other sci fi in my head.

Kind of hard to visit Alderaan these days, Alan. Thankfully, Star Wars never got into time travel or different universes and such. Those things make story telling far more messy, as well as kind of pointless, if in the multiverse, there is a different ending to each story. Marvel made that mistake and is paying for it now.
@irystocrattakodachithatmooms

Marvel is just incompetent. It's possible to use time travel and multiverses well, just that you need some hard and fast rules with good implementation. If there are no restrictions on what can be done and you use it as a deus ex machina you get a Marvel situation. However in the case of the Sunrider series there are some hard and fast rules. The rules do have exceptions but they are extremely rare and can have consequences of their own. The main rules are that if you are to time travel you must go to a different universe and that both universes must be destroyed and replaced by a new one when the future is changed. This is because spacetime doesn't like it when you mess with things. You can't do time travel in the same universe as it would break spacetime and changing things causes a paradox meaning that the universes must be replaced with one that takes it into consideration. This makes it so that there has only been one thing where time travel actively happens to the player and it isn't even canon. I can't think of any other examples of time travel and multiverses having such consequences and limitations sadly. Again, there are exceptions but they are quite rare and can have consequences of their own.

The comment about the Corellians being the first to reverse engineer the Rakatan hyperdrive is not right. In Expanded Universe material it was the Duros who did this first and then the humans further improved the tech and developed related tech, such as hyperspace beacons. The reset cannon has not made any point that contradicts this, to my knowledge.

There's only 3 types of aliens. 1st Humanoid, everything from Superman to Kilngons. A guy in a suit. 2. Then you got your Non Humanoids, your ETs and your Tribbles or Jabbas, basically just a puppet... 3rd. Then you got my favorite type of alien, and he Special Effects alien! You got your walking piles of Goo, your sentient fart clouds and living CGI monsters.. and that's how life works according to filmmaking
