I actually recommended moderating for specific gamemodes around a year and 3 months ago. Having specific players people know they can message for a game is useful

I’m happy that the overall performance of the game master team will improve, but I am sad to see the volunteer roles leave entirely. It’s really sad for someone like me who really wanted to become a helper and eventually a mod, and I wish there was a way they could’ve implemented the whole game master thing and kept the volunteer positions, since they don’t cost anything to hypixel, and maybe just given them a more narrow job description like dealing with reports on the spot to keep the consistency brought by the game master system. Either way, great video, thanks for explaining the whole situation!

Side note, the second biggest server, "Minehut" has also done this change before Hypixel even announced it. I was on the staff team for a year before the change, but only knowing about it a few days before hand. I brought this up due to you saying you don't think any other server has hired a smaller team to do the job

I think there should still be a helper role. However, it just shouldn’t be required to go through it to become a paid worker. They can have their team composed of paid members, but still have that role for players who want to help out a bit, or aren’t 18 yet.

1 way to solve staff bein inactive is by givin them like a list of jobs on the server that they have to do for like next week (one of the examples would be like you havw to go thru 10 reports a day or stuff like that)

lol about a year and a half ago i logged on the hypixel to play with my friends and note i have not been on the server in at least 6 months at that point and i come to find out i was 2 months in the a 1 year ban. i went to a appeal it and as show a email from Mojang saying my account was compromised but they just said no your banned. so yeah they did not even let my try and defend myself so cool people that wont just write me off. but even then have not been back on that sever since left a bad taste in my mouth

I feel like they easily could have kept helpers and moderators. It was very helpful having them in lobbies and guilds to keep things peaceful. Now lobbies are super toxic and there’s not a staff member in sight. I have zero faith in the admins because you never even see them. I really think this is a mistake, even if hackers end up getting banned slightly sooner (still after your game has been ruined by the cheater so it doesn’t matter). The idea that 30 people can manage a server with up to 100k-200k players on is a joke, no matter how efficient they are. I’m sure hype do has crunched the numbers but either way it hardly makes sense to make staff even more outnumbered than they already were. I hope the best for this god forsaken server lol. Oh and to people point about the quality of moderation going up, how much quality do you need to catch a fly hacker in skywars?..

Yeah I think atlas. Made moderators less useful since many people are over level 50 which would mean that bassicly every player that uses atlas would be moderators (yeah I know you can only report but reports will likely be accepted if there is proof) so its probably part of why

Personally, I've always found it kinda odd that a for profit server would have volunteers, however, it makes sense economically speaking. Really do love this though just because I'd rather my ban be based on a paid staff's opinion rather than a volunteer's opinion. Great change imo! GG hypixel

Yeah i guess. I have about 3 of my alts banned on hypixel since I used to hack on them... I wish they do an unban wave where they unban everyone permanently banned.. Sure, it would spike hackers for a good 10-20 days but after that playerbase would increase by loads.
