Why I Am Selling My 2017 Ferrari 488 Spider Already

Its just that time, I've enjoyed it, and could further enjoy it, or I can switch up the garage and get something else. There is a premium which the 488 spiders command which I will take partial advantage of, but if that were the motivator I would have sold the car 3 months ago. Going to keep driving it and enjoying it though and sharing it with you guys until I do sell it.

Flipping is when you buy something and don't use it. It hasn't changed since you've owned it and then try to sell for a higher price to make money little later down the road. Huge difference. It's like middle men. A used lot works almost on this exact principle.

CylinderHeadE60 The 812 has a more progressive powerband because of its NA motor. The 488 with its turbo engine has a shit ton of torque and has a different driving feel. It's more in your face.

Vitoman901 The 812 is a lot harder to drive fast than the 488. The 488 has better balance and more traction, and the torque is limited through the gears. The better deal if he wants a bit more drivability is the GTC4. He's probably not going to like the overly sensitive throttle pedal in the 458 either. He's doing this to flip cars, that's it.

But I take my R8 up Angeles Crest Highway for a round trip of 250 miles, out for a couple of dates in West Hollywood and spend a lazy day in the Canyons of Malibu and out to the beach for Sunday brunch and bam! 500 miles. Not surprising. He mentioned a "balloon payment" = creative financing = very high interest rate = short term view OR he is not very wealthy. He only used his 488 as a prop to start up. He never showed the mileage. Assumption: he probably got the car as a favor to drive around a few hundred miles but that the dealer can sell the car on consignment for over MSRP. Because, as you know, Ferrari will not allow dealers to sell above MSRP. So they make a deal with an "insider", like Rob, to drive the car a couple hundred miles so they can resell it.

I live in South Africa and also got rid of my 488. After 15 months & only 1100 miles, it spent half of the time getting repaired for factory faults. Gearbox failure, engine failure, electrical system failure, PDC failure which still cannot be repaired. Managed to get rid of it to a car dealership, lost over $60 000. Personally, the only thing worse than the car is the service from Scuderia in South Africa. Still have a 458, which also spends ages in the Ferrari workshop, trying to get repaired. Great news is I've ordered the McLaren 720S. Drove it on the weekend. One word, EPIC!

Thats not always the case. Also, you have to consider insurance, potential accidents and overall the monthly payments you are going to have to make every month. On the other hand, a "30k brand new car" will most likely last you 5 to 10 years and it is more practical for day to day use.
