How did I go from being forced to be in band in 6th grade to being a band director?
If you have any suggestions for future videos, please feel free to let me know in the comments! Upcoming video topics include: How to Network; How to Manage Time As A Music Major; and hopefully some videos with practice hacks. Your feedback will help me decide which content to create!

Oh hey look I’m in this! Lol. I’m really glad you made this and especially those questions at the end it made it so much easier. I do love band, I don’t want to quit, and I believe I want to make others like it as well. Wow maybe I do want to be a band director. :)

Good luck! It's a long and bumpy road full of self-doubt, practicing, and realizing that band directing is mostly not band related. 🤓 But other than that, it's great! lol

This made me have a new perspective on band directors. And why they helped the students and push them to become better players

Awesome video, very inspirational, and love the new logo. I went 13 years without playing my trumpet. I was in the Marine Corps, got out and got a regular job(s) all the while wanting to be a band Director (ever since high school). I am now a Music Education major. I love band and I love music though sometimes it has its difficult moments. I am currently 31y.o and come across others that play so much better or are just better than myself at other tasks and it can make you feel really intimidated, but you are very right. You can’t give up, you can’t quite especially when this is where your heart is. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and have shared your page with a couple of Band Directors that I know. Keep up the awesome work and thank you for doing what you do!

That's awesome! It can be tough trying to jump into music after leaving it, so I applaud you for that! And thanks for the shares! I don't think there are many band directors creating youtube content out there. I'm hoping there's a market for it!

Awesome video. Really informative and helpful for aspiring band directors. Just a suggestion, but perhaps new directors would benefit from a video with any tips you may have for them to help them with their first job interview. I know when I started off I was very nervous about interviewing for a teaching position and the advice I gained from mentors really helped me. On a separate note, I'd just like to say that I am a big fan of your channel and throughly enjoy your videos. Thank you for the awesome work that you do! :)

Hey I have a question!! Do you think band director jobs will last the next 20 30 years? This is my only concern of pursing a music education degree! Any answers will suffice!
@thefuturemillionairebanddi4528
@thefuturemillionairebanddi4528 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! The short answer: Most schools will always have a band and a band director. The cultural and community expectations of having a band at the football games and to march in parades keeps bands in the schools. The long answer is: I believe that most bands are currently and will continue to shrink in size due to the increase of electives offered in many districts (CTE, engineering, coding, etc.). Bands will likely not go away, but I do see a downsize in staff size, budget, and student enrollment in the next few years.

Question, do you have to know how to play every instrument to teach band?, because my band director always knows what fingerings and notes and all that stuff about every instrument.
@bassbyrdtx
@bassbyrdtx Жыл бұрын
Yes, you learn that in college music school. Woodwind methods, brass methods, percussion, strings, and voice, too. Usually a director will have areas of specialty though.

In Texas, it’s not bad. Middle school and high school assistant directors can expect to make $60-70k, in most suburban or urban school districts. Head directors can make $90-100k+!
