Thank you so much for this video. You are not alone. Many of us who raised children and husbands while working full time dream of living for ourselves. Some of us are brave enough to do it. You are a brave woman. I hope your sons are proud of you

I bet you are brave, too, but haven’t realized it yet. Live for yourself in whatever way makes you happy. Hugs to you, and thank you.

Me too. I felt I needed to put a new roof on my house in order to sell it. 😩 I am having a blast living in my van. I have lived in Alaska most of my adult life. And I have seen and done many amazing things. But now I'm seeing the rest of the country

Well, thank you for a down to earth account of your journey. You are not so dissimilar from many travelers. Although in another continent my journey is not so dissimilar from yours. Especially the care of and eventual separation of loved one. One's mind seems to evolve and what was once important with ownership, along with attendant effort and cost, becomes all a non-event. One realizes what is now of value is not the hard graft that no-one sees or needs but personal peace, space and quietness. Although a van doesn't look to offer these things, the mind senses them in abundance through easing of distraction. So may God bless your journey, mentally, physically and spiritually.

There no shame in wanting to downsize and live a simpler life with less material things to take care of.. Hang in there and stay safe.

I’m with you on the downsizing thing. I’m retiring very soon. My wife and I are selling our house and moving on to our boat full time. Our boat is our happy place, with dolphin and manatees in our backyard. Living costs will be a fraction of living in our house. We will not miss the house.

This is your time for you… to discover who you are, to get to know yourself on a much deeper level and find out the things that matter to you, what makes you happy and what brings joy to your life. There’s a saying that I love and chose to live by as my own philosophy. Maybe it will inspire you as well. It says- “Everyday may not be good, but there’s something good in every day.” Finding the goodness and joy in everyday and allowing it to resonate within your soul. Reflection and journal writing for your special time with yourself. Also finding those connections with others when it brings you positive energy and yes finding your tribe of trustworthy people who bring light into your world. That’s the goodness of life and this new chapter of your journey. And the best part of all, is you are the writer of each chapter that each new daybreak brings. Seems like it’s the start of a beautiful story.

Phyllis, You have tremendous skills--executive, social, mechanical and only the Lord knows what else. Maybe a break from the road would help by adding stability and allowing some roots to grow so you can "branch out" from there.
I would do it to avoid having to cut grass every other day. I like being outside. I don't like continous manual labor at 59. Btw, I posted this before you said it yourself.😊

Understand how expensive it can be to keep a house. Went through the same experience. Including the yard 😆 and mine was small. No point in trying to keep a house if it’s draining your financial resources. Keep traveling, enjoy life, be safe in all aspects of life.

Yo Phyllis. I see this was posted some time ago and I’m sure a lot has happened since then. Anyhow, I live in Rosarito Baja, and we’re trying to put together a caravan to drive south in Jan-Feb to see the whales in Baja Sur. Might you be interested? It’s not a paid thing , just a small group caravaning together. It’s totally in the formative stages now, so all input is welcome.
