It's over rated. Does it work, yes, but not as good as if you had an opponent.

I agree, the map and counters look great and It was one of the reasons I bought It too. There are some things In the rules that are confusing, but Compass Games are not well known for the rule books, although there getting better. A lot of things got cleared up for the better In the expansion Indian Ocean. If your looking for a Harpoonish lite boardgame experience you might want to give Blue Navy also from Compass Games a try. But to be honest, there´s nothing out there like Harpoon, you do have Modern Naval Conflicts 1970s (WargameVault) as a Harpoon lite In my opinion, but that´s about it that I know of. I know your Into naval from your videos, you might want to look at Heart of Oak by Jon Williams and published by Fantasy Games Unlimited, can be found also at WargameVault, but sisnce your In the US, I suggest you buy direct from Fantasy Games Unlimited as the version on WargameVault Is not to well scanned. Ahoy!

@@jshabadoo it's a great hobby with many options. Just go slow because you'll end up with games you'll never play, but you have them on your shelf lol

I have this game and it is pretty good but if you really want a real Naval game try VG fleet series (Out of print for 30 years) A more complex system for sure but far. far more in depth. The series is modern warfare in the late 80's-90's. There are online updates that bring timeframe up to the present. One thing I don't care for in the SCS is the air combat. To abstract with no CAP missions.

I've heard off and on that Compass is supposed to be reprinting the Fleet series. This has been persisting for years so far, so I guess there's something to it.

The “Fleet” games were good for their time, but their game mechanics are dated and are not up to the standards of today’s games. I wouldn’t waste the time and more importantly the money on these games. They are grossly over-priced because they’re considered collectors items now.
