One thing you can say for the 'chop' function is, the rotation reverses direction every time it starts/stops, producing more evenly-chopped pieces (in THEORY, anyway...) I would say Ninja tends to engineer/manufacture a "higher-quality" product than average, but this model, anyway, is a big disappointment for all the reasons you cite. Thanks for testing this food processor, AND thanks for comparing the feed tube of this Ninja with that of the Cuisinart Prep Line... That image is worth a thousand words-!!

Always appreciate your thorough reviews Amy and Eric!! Do you happen to have the KA food processor attachment? Curious what your thoughts are on that. Does it have a narrow feed tube as well?

Hi, Amy, I would really recommend Hamilton Beach: Hamilton Beach Stack & Snap Food Processor with Bowl Scraper, 10 Cup Capacity, Black, New, 70822F. The Food chute is huge, give it a try. It can accommodate whole foods I use it all the time and love it.

I have the red version of the one you tested, but mine came with 2 additional round slicing/shredding blades. Mine works great but I only use it for specific things and it does the job, and I understand your reasons for not recommending it. Always enjoy your videos, Amy.

I returned my brand new food processor because of that horrible plastic/ burned motor smell. It was a different brand (quite expensive) and the smell was getting worse and worse with every use. The quality of appliances is getting really bad.

Should have watched this before i purchased my ninja wide cup. Haven't opened the box as yet though. Thoroughly agree with you about getting a wide mouth cup as that has now become important to me since watching your demo.

Oh dear. This was painful to watch. Surely, the point of these gadgets is to make a cook's life easier? This was horrible watching Amy struggle to perform basic tasks. I can see that on the lower end machines, a smaller feed chute makes sense for keeping costs down whilst maintaining safety. The Breville/Sage and Magimix both have an additional switch for the pusher to prevent hands being inserted into the wide feed chute. That additional complexity has additional cost. So, the smaller feed chute makes sense. That said, if you can't even slice a tomato, what's the point? Also, given the amount of faff with having to presize other veggies for slicing, I think you'd be better off with a mandolin. This isn't saving much time. Whilst we're on the subject of slicing, I'm not sure it even does that well. Those slices looked pretty uneven to me. There wasn't a consistent thickness, and some of the slices looked wedge shaped. Really, the only thing the machine seemed to do well was grate the cheese. OK, it's a budget machine, but considering its capability to do the job, it turns out to be a pretty expensive cheese grater.

Does anybody wonder how some of these products make it to the shelves? Truly and genuinely, when they are doing testing or whatever, and they see it just doesn't perform, they just say, "welp, put it out anyway."?
@davidbgreensmith10 ай бұрын
@@treasurethetime2463 I often ask myself the same question. The Ninja brand seems to have a fairly good reputation, so this kind of misfire is baffling. For me, this machine would be unusable.

Hi Amy, My first food processor was the 9 cup KitchenAidv and it had the same problem, feed tube was too small. Gave that to a friend. I use my Vitamix for chopping, and if I need items cut a certain way, I cut it myself. I bought the attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer and it shreds great, I haven’t used the slicing part. I had the Ninja Storm and it was a great machine for chopping and crushing ice and drinks. Those blades are dangerous , so I have been trying to consolidate these gadgets, that’s why I got the Vitamix, but basically I chop some items myself

I can't even count how many times I've cut my hand on food processor blades. 😂 They are so sharp, there is that moment of disbelief when you know you touched it but aren't sure if you cut yourself. Then the blood. 😂.
@outcast61874 ай бұрын
Great video, yeah at 24:45 where u show the problem with a lot of smaller food processors, my conspiracy theory is a lot of food processor brands deliberately put a smaller feed chute to force the upsell of their bigger more expensive processor models. When mentioning the KitchenAid, maybe u should have said "9 Cup" as well so people who didn't watch the whole video know which model u are referring to.

Hello, I love your Videos and this is one enlightening Video more 👍. I loooove my Shark/Ninja products, the Ninja foodi max pro and my Shark Vacuum ckeaner. But for Food Processor, I chose the 3.1 Liter KitchenAid. Because I love the "plunge and use "concept, no more twisting around the Bowl, the lid, etc. 😂. And the slicing disc which is adjustable from the outside is Genius! In connection with the cube dicer it makes slicing and dicing so much more convenient. And that all accessories are placed in the machine is great too. The chute is wider than the smaller modell. Interestingly, the Ninja Double Blade concept is not doing the work much better than the single blades of other Machines🤔

Hi Amy and Eric, I have to say I hate the Ninja stacked blade design in both their blender and this food processor, that design is so dangerous for cutting you in use if you want to check the food in the bowl or in cleaning the blade assembly. I also have a problem with the height of this style as well not to mention the small feed tube. I was so sure it was going to fail at the cheese shredding test, if you had shredded more cheese it might have. Best to you both from Oregon.

Unfortunately, Cuisinart changed the design of their 7 cup food processor. It now has the narrow tube, just like the Ninja does. Best bet is to spend a little more and buy a Cuisinart Pro Custom 11 instead.
