Cordelia Maria Del Rey I don’t think it sounded lifeless but the reason for that is bc he was slightly off on that note, the more off they are the more auto tune will react, that’s why bad singers sound robotic and good singers don’t even if they use the same amount of auto tune (this is not always the case, good singers can sound robotic if there’s enough like T-pain and bad singers can sound natural and on pitch depending on the settings it’s kinda complicated until you see auto tune itself then you realize it’s quite simple, but I see where you’re coming from)

I completely agree but I also feel it's a bit more like poeple assume if someone sounds good it's autotuned because they're so used to hearing it everywhere becaus even if someone has real talent, sometimes they feel they need autotune (which is completely their decision because let's just be honest here we like the music either way 🤷🏻‍♂️). I feel like some get insecure because sO many people can be sO mean especially because they don't truly have to own up to what the said.

@@smolbean8919 If it's good autotune you CAN'T hear it because it's made that way. Autotune is just to correct one note maybe. So it also doesn't make sense to take a bad singing person + autotune to have a good artist. What you mean what everybody hears everywhere is often distortion or another settings.

The problem is, people think that because you're a "vocal coach" you should be a perfect singer... and that is such a misconception. A vocal coach doesnt have to be a perfect singer to teach someone else to sing. I mean look at football coaches, they are mostly old men who cant get out there and do the shit their players can do but they are able to teach them the technical things needed to be a good player. Same with a vocal coach... they arent there to be perfect themselves... they just need to have a good ear and able to teach someone how to utilize their vocals but the main thing is they have to have a good EAR not necessarily a good voice. I mean they should be able to obviously show some demonstrations of what they are trying to teach but they dont need to sound perfect. No singer out there, professional or otherwise is a perfect singer and all the popular pop singers and any singer has a vocal coach to help them and thats the truth. But using auto tune doesnt make you a shit singer, unless youre using it for every single note but if youre using it as intended, to fix a minor flaw here or there, there isnt anything wrong with that... its a tool just as anyone has a tool on their computer to get their digital artwork to look better or a calculator to help with math problems... its just something you use to help in recorded audio. Give Tristan a break. I have a decent voice and have coached people vocally who are way better than me... but i was able to hear things they coulnt in their voice and help them adjust it because I have a really good ear.

Using pitch correction does not cancel any existing natural talent, people should understand that. It's totally fine to use it because it makes everything sound professional and blended. Not to mention, when you "professionally" edit a vocal, you're gonna compress and equalize it as well as add reverb and delay therefore "amplifying" it, and you really don't want to amplify imperfections.If you wanna listen to autotune free singing at this day and age just go listen to Opera or something like that lol (i love opera) :D ♥

@@Bc232klm I respect your personal opinion. I just simply cannot comprehend how putting a vocal in perfect pitch can render it "bland" or "weaken" it as it is meant to do the complete opposite. It's totally fine to prefer raw vocals, but, if done correctly, I don't see how tuning them can make them suddenly sound bad.

두 니 야Dounia Yes, exactly. Every artist has the right to edit their music whichever way they want to and they should not be judged for using pitch correction if they are simply trying to make their voice sound more professional. Raw talent is important and so are constructive comments full of criticism if they provide advice on how to improve one’s voice. Leaving hate comments on the other hand, do not get any points across when you could just click away from the video and avoid all the drama.

This autotune discussion is silly. Anyone with a good ear and basic musical/production knowledge can instantly recognize a good vocal performance even though it's autotuned. It takes some really good singing to make autotune work the way it does on a lot of vocal tracks. So yes, some times you use it to correct a bad note, but most of the time you slap some autotune on the vocal tracks just to make it sound professional or "radio ready". It just comes down to the way music is being produced in this day age. Everything is grid based, you quantize and correct everything into perfection since the development of DAW's and digital tools and the use of perfect pitch samples and synths and so on. And to make the vocal performance sit right in this "perfect" digital track you need to change the sound of it. This includes compression, distortion doubling, breathy doubles, exciters and pitch correction. What you hear as a vocal performance in a pop song today is almost never just one single vocal track, it's a lot of tracks stacked together. You just do this because it's what the listeners ears are used to now and its what they like to hear.
@sheridansheridan8946
@sheridansheridan8946 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! In the same way that a clean, technically perfect photograph is not considered "professional" unless it has some sort of processing filter applied before being made public, so has the music industry evolved to a place where the sound of processing and autotune is what people have learned to "hear" as the norm. We are always pushing the boundaries of what CAN be done technologically, but that doesn't always mean that we SHOULD do it. At some point I'm sure the pendulum will swing in the opposite direction, and sound will move along a different tangent. That's what evolution is...

Unfortunately, It’s a lose-lose situation here for us Singers. If we keep our voice raw, make a few pitch mistakes and *don’t* correct them, we get shit for it. If we *do* use some auto tune to fix up a few pitches that were a little off, we get shit for it. 😂😂 Similarly, when we see people singing Live on TV, it’s most likely dubbed to make it almost perfect. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Either way Tristan, I think you sound great with or without the auto tune. I am a music producer and I’m telling you now, you can’t take an awful singer and make them amazing with auto tune. You can make them sound like T Pain maybe. If you’re a good singer, all auto tune does is keep your voice in a pocket. It stops random rogue notes and tones, but is hardly even noticeable if done right. It’s the industry standard. I simply don’t finish a mix without auto tune.

Using pitch correction is the industry standard so why wouldn't you use it? I feel like people think it's a magic wand or something. It can't make a shit singer good! There is barely a difference. You certainly didn't need it. If anything the pitch correction just made it sound a bit robotic in the odd place. I think people saying this was not a good song choice are crazy. In my opinion, you sounded brilliant. You don't like it because it's out of your comfort zone and your tone gets dark in places but that's why I love it lol. Seriously though your voice is gorgeous in both versions and I truly loved hearing you do something a bit different. I could hear that it was just your voice on that "you" and I feel for you. When people hear my music from like 20 years ago there is always someone accusing me of using autotune and I actually never used it ever and that's not because I'm just too good for that shit. I'd have had it sometimes if it had been an option but it was bloody expensive and not the standard within my genres either back then, no idea about now. Venues would hire us based on the recordings so we had to sound as good live. You are so bloody patient with people. I admire that quality. I'd have lost my shit by now lol

@joshual1021
@joshual1021 5 жыл бұрын
Why do you think people attack people like this? Because they don't bother to attempt trying to be good at it. To look into the process or attempt to even get to the point of failure. You can white-knight all you want, but doesn't change psychology. People attack what they are jealous of, especially in the case when they're so afraid of failing they don't even bother to attempt it. Anyone can become a singer, but that's only when they TRY. That's why people can't be Doctor's just by saying "Y'know what? I'm gonna just do this once a year and count myself as a professional". That's not how it works, even born with aptitude in anything. Just because they have the potential to be a doctor doesn't mean they can now tell a heart surgeon he's doing it wrong, lacking any sort of research in the procedures and tools that he uses. That's an educated way of looking at it.
