I have been building up my power tool collection again after selling all my old makita stuff years ago. And I’ve found the Ferex tools absolutely brilliant for what I need them for. Once you build a collection of batteries and a few chargers, the cost of the tools as and when they get released and next to nothing.

I love Aldi (Ferrex) tools too, for the casual DIYer or weekend project maker they are ideal.

It's amazing! That massive haul of cordless tools for under £200. I've got corded and cordless tools from most of the big names, but just can't resist a Ferrex multi-tool for a tenner. The same applies to the orbital sander, impact driver, along with other bits and bobs I've picked up over the years. The best to date has to be the cordless mitre saw. It was on clearance at only £49. Well, it would be rude not to. And, with some minor adjustments, it cuts really well - even with the crappy blade it comes with. Again, you wouldn't want to be onsite fitting miles of skirting, but for the odd homer it is perfect. For site work, I use Hitachi and Makita, but in my wee garage workshop the Ferrex tools are absolutely fine. Probably use the orbital sander most to give projects a final once over. The runtime is okay on a the larger battery, but not so clever on the smaller, 20v variants. That said, for any prolonged sanding tasks, it makes more sense to plug in the Bosch. Don't imagine they would hold up too well on building site, but for home use, unless you're loaded, it just doesn't make sense to shell out a small fortune on Festool. Not, that is, unless you are on KZbin. Now, I don't leave my tools out in the rain, or run over them with the car. Nor do I massage them in essential oils, but have you ever noticed how pristine KZbinr power tools look? Hey, if I took a camera into my garage right now - or pretty much anytime - you'd be forgiven for thinking there'd been a break in. Anyhow, 7 months on, how are you getting on with Aldi's finest?

I can't fault them, need to do an update now I've lived with them for a while 😂 really need them to release a nail gun though. The only issue is the professional kit released a few months later that's now on sale locally but I'm happy with all this kit for less than 200 quid for a basic workshop set up

I love these cheap Aldi tools. I've got the cordless mitre saw it's great. I recently made a review video on that impact driver which is also a good value for money tool I feel. 👍🏻

Great video, I’ve just subbed.. although I thought I had already! , I’ve just bought a ferrex grinder without battery … funnily enough I’ll probably be doing a video on it soon.. question - do you know how good the battery is on the grinder, and if any other manufacturers batteries fit? I’m going to pick one up soon with the charger when they are back in store at Aldi . Thanks Rob

Hey Rob, to be honest I've still not really used the grinder so far, do have a project to tax it but that still sat on a shelf to start!!!!! Also not sure about the alternative batteries. Have a look on Aliexpress you may find a battery convertor on there but I'm sure the grinder is a 40v tool (most Ferrex stuff seems to be 20v) so you may struggle running it on a smaller 3rd party battert.

What I'd like to know is this.....On eBay the XYZ561 battery seems to have been replaced by the XYZ561a. Do they have the same fitting and use the same charger? I bought an Aldi bare unit strimmer some years back but never used it, so am looking for suitable XYZ561 batteries for it. Can you please help me? Thanks.

I'm not sure, try looking on the webpage for the current product number for it. I can't imagine they would change it as it would render old tool system tools useless. Also pop in to a local branch, some hold the batteries behind the counter so you need to ask

Why did you buy 2 chargers, If you start your job with 2 fully charged batteries and 1 gets used up by the time you put the charged 1 on and put the other 1 on charge your waiting time is down to having a cup of coffee time. I could understand this thinking if you were working in a professional capacity but for a normal DIY situation 1 charger is more than adequate.
@stephenhookings1985
@stephenhookings1985 Жыл бұрын
I guess to charge two at once and/or as a redundancy incase one of the chargers fails? I was tempted by one of their Ferrex impact drivers BUT they don't seem to sell the batteries nor chargers anymore. Maybe this dude bought them all :-)
@bayadere8308
@bayadere8308 Жыл бұрын
If you look, you'll see that one is just for 20v. and the other, bottom right, for the 20/40v. So no, one charger is not 'more than adequate.'

I've bought most of mine for less than full price, by waiting till they are reaching the end of stock. My best buy was the cordless Mire Saw. It was originally £89-99, and i got it for £49-99. I also got the table saw with legs, although that's not cordless. Originally £89-99, I got the last one in the store, for £39-99.

Ditto, on the mitre saw. I picked mine up for 49 pounds too. And most of the others on clearance for the price of a couple of bus tickets.
