The 250 Rebel is one of the greatest bikes of all time. I still have my '99 after all these years. Bigger bikes are a different experience and require more skill. Rebels are user-friendly to new riders and reliable, but still capable of highway speeds. The perfect first 'real' motorcycle.

I bought a new rebel 250, in 1986 $1450. My ride was 28 mi back and forth, very comfortable. My farthest ride was about 130 mi Round trip and I was sore after that ride. The rebel might be the best transportation purchase I ever made

Rebel is a perfect bike, though poorly tuned from factory.... Sprocket change to 15t/30t, K&N filter, iridium plugs & sport CDI, Carb upjet make the bike MUCH MUCH more rideable on highways. Good for 80mph!! Bore the jugs out to fit 57mm pistons and the bike no longer bogs down in wind or on hills!

Started riding at age 8 on a Bultaco 100cc dirt bike. Got my first street bike at age 16, in 1975, a 1972 Suzuki GT380. Went from that to a brand new 1980 Suzuki GS450L. That started my love affair with cruisers. Went from that to a Yamaha XS650 Special, then to an XS1100 Special. I've owned a lot of large cruisers and a couple of Goldwings. I've also owned 4 Rebel 250s. Bought the first one brand new in 1985. I didn't need it, I just loved the look, and it was dirt cheap, like $1200. Since then I've had a used '99 Rebel 250, an '08 Rebel 250, and now have a bought new '16 Rebel 250. When I saw the disgusting POS that Honda replaced the Rebel 250 with in '17, I rushed right down to the local Honda dealer and bought the new 250. I have put over 50,000 miles on Rebel 250s, over half of that on the highway at full throttle. They are unbreakable. I used to belong to a Honda Rebel forum, and the owner of the forum was a big guy, 6'2, 250 pounds. He had put over 100,000 miles on a Rebel 250, a lot of it on the highway. Besides the Rebel 250, I also have a 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan 750, and a 2006 Sportster 1200L. Both are carbureted. I have never owned a computer bike. I bought the Sportster used with 4700 miles on it. It's white, gloss black, and orange, with LOTS of chrome. I don't like the Sportster Iron because I can't stand flat black motorcycles. And I wouldn't touch a crotch rocket with anything but a sledgehammer.

I traded for a 1987 250cc Rebel in 1988 and rode it for while before I sold it. Now I am 70 years old and looking at another one. I've owned motorcycles since 1967, mostly Japanese models and four Harleys. I will NEVER own another Harley. My last one cost $37,000 and broke down four times within the first year of ownership. I am looking at a 2013 Rebel with 1700 miles. If I buy it I plan to buy a small Puig windshield and change the rear spocket from a 33 tooth to a 30 tooth which will lower the RPM's at highway speeds. Thank you for sharing this video. You be sure to ride safe and enjoy every journey.

I got a free 2007 "Zhejiang" 250 4-stroke dirt-bike two years ago. (I'm 52 years old... I don't need a dirt-bike). All summer, I'm thinking... "okay, what am I going to turn this into?" (I like to cobble). That autumn, I discovered a 2009 Honda Rebel "rolling chassis" on Craigslist for $125.00. BINGO!!! My Boss at work allowed me to bring the bike(s) into work so I could do the engine-swap throughout the winter. (I work in a tool-and-die shop). By springtime, I was finished. (Mostly..... there's ALWAYS more to customize,... right?) I did some custom artwork on the gas tank, this spring. I LOVE my Rebel. And the best part is...... I have a kick-start!!! ... (I will NOT own a bike that doesn't have a kick-start). I've always liked the looks of the Rebel. NOW I have one. And that one-lunger 250 gets 75 miles per gallon!!! (Awesome when gas is almost $5.00 a gallon).

Pablo Myers Myers not necessarily.. region matters. Same for season and a couple other factors. I watched listings for months and bought in January. The guy was moving in a few weeks so pretty much any decent cash offer looked good on this case. They were asking 18 or 1900 originally. Also worth noting that the previous owner dropped it once or twice and I have a tank dent. It belonged to the sellers girlfriend, was her first bike.. I've put about 5000 on it myself with no issues tho. Hasn't needed anything but oil changes. I've also noticed that prices on them seem to be going up a little..

Pablo Myers Myers might have been a little high but if you like it, there are totally worse things that could have happened. Especially if you plan on keeping it long term. A few months ago, I found a "new" old stock 09 with 5 miles on it for 3400.. that's the most expensive one I've found. Generally running, "ready to ride" rebels seem to range from 1000-2500 in my area though, Denver.. mine was just the best I could find for the money after several months of watching.

I was "only" in my 20s when I realized I like "cruisers". Different bikes for different riders! No different than cars. I was a 28 year old "kid" when I bought my first (and so far ONLY) NEW car: A 1990 Buick LeSabre! At the time I had to be HALF the age of the average buyer of THAT model. I didn't CARE. It rode nice and was DAMN NEAR a Cadillac for way less money!
