I love the idea of taking everything special about the car and emphasizing it. Boosted or K swapped engines have the same energy as LS swapping an RX-7, just turns the car into something it was never meant to be. Always rooted for J's racing on hot version, lol.

I owned EK Si, DC2 GSR, and S2000 and rev'd the engines out to redline at every outing. The build of power at high RPM and the sound that Honda engines make is bliss for those that love to drive.

I loved the format of this video. I owned an S2000 for 5 years and still thought this was an informative video with practical points on all sides. A couple questions if you could share more? 1. How tall are you and is that a limit for tracking it or can the platform accommodate tall drivers with the right seat choice? 2. Did you consider safety as a con? It is a very small car after all. If I were to track it, I’d have a rear roll bar and not a cage.

Nice video! One of the cons of tracking an S2000 is the cost of replacing an engine and limited avalability vs. a Miata powertrain for example. I would still rather be on track with the S2000. Driving on an S2000 on track and the backroads and just a special experience.

Just in response the cons (I'm also a honda fan boi and love the NSX and the S), maybe a controversial topic but the differential has been something I've been trying to work through. I think the transmission can also be a weak spot as well considering the miles most of our S2000s have these days. Would be nice to have a place that could rebuild these to something track reliable to match the motor.
@brookhammerschmidt4464 Жыл бұрын
I guess I have been lucky because I haven't had any issues. This may change in it's new form. Puddy mod can beef up the diff but as for the trans I know PPG sells a dog gear set up for the stock box.

So... my AP1 s2k like many others does burn some oil specially when driven hard. You say it depends on which oil. I've tried many different oils as well as two weights 10/30 and 5/40 and it still burns the same amount. Perhaps you know a brand and weight I haven't tried yet? What do you recommend?
@brookhammerschmidt4464 Жыл бұрын
It might just vary engine to engine. I was using Penzoil Ultra platinum but I think they changed there formula and not for the better. I just started using the Motul competition oil.

As a S2000 owner, I'm debating if I should K swap at this point since F20c engines are just so darn expensive and are tougher to rebuild but we'll see. I am kind of tempted to also look at a F20c2 block and build that to mitigate the oil burning issues (which my S2000 has unfortunately) and benefit from more experienced Honda development

i drove C6 and s2k on the canyon on summer days. i always thought about reliability. the c6 i can see the temp goes up and the s2k goes up a bit too. the c6 get so hot and the inside the cabin you can feel the heat coming thru the floor near the middle console. i pull to the side and turn off the engine. it feels like it got hotter. when i start the engine again, the temp goes way up. i left the car on idle i guess thats the way you should do it so the oil circulate. i was driving it really hard too. reliability comes to mind that day
@mk.h2 жыл бұрын
I drive my car on street only, no track. What aero modifications are you doing? anything worth considering for street use? Just thinking if my car is a bit more aero-efficient, when driving spiritedly on the back road, might get more pedal response out of it. Also when cruising around, might save just couple percent of fuel? Also would you consider carbon fibre prop shaft? It is lighter and it’s rotational mass.
@brookhammerschmidt44642 жыл бұрын
Spoon top is a good one to be more efficient or a basic flat bottom. You just need to make sure you keep the trans and diff cool. I will be doing a carbon prop shaft in the future.
